7/9 (Thu) Maintenance Update Details

Greetings, this is Shadow Arena.

Here are the updates made to Shadow Arena during the maintenance on July 9 (Thu).
* Patch Size: 392.03 MB (Approx.)

Check out all the details below, and we will see you in the arena!

■ Major System Improvements
- Fixed an issue where using the Matchlock, Stun Trap, or Red Dragon’s Offering sometimes caused the item to be consumed without the item’s effect being activated.
This bug took longer than we expected to fix; we apologize for how long it took. We will continue to focus our efforts on reducing bugs one-by-one such as issues where projectiles are ignored when an enemy is stuck close to a wall or using a skill with charge.

■ King of the Hill Mode
- Added the King of the Hill mode.

> Players select a Hero to enter the arena and receive 13 skill points to learn skills.

> Once all 5 players have entered, the match will begin after 60 seconds and all players will be transformed into Black Spirits. At this point, the players will also be organized into an order for 1v1 duels.

> The 5 players will duel in this order and the winner of each duel will continue to the next duel.

> During the duel, the Dark Fog will slowly narrow the playfield.

> The match will come an end once a player achieves a set number (determined by the number of players) of wins.

▶ Go to the King of the Hill Guide

We’ve consistently received requests for a pure 1v1 mode where players can show off their skills since the beta tests. It’s a format which doesn’t include many of the factors needed to win a normal game, so we worried whether it was right to add such a mode even from the very start. Nevertheless, we started to develop this kind of mode since many players requested it and we felt that it could be a good mode for players to practice and improve the core skills required by the game.

The King of the Hill mode we’re adding today is the basic format that we designed, and we will continue to develop it further into a team battle, tag battle format, or maybe even something else based on our players’ responses.

■ Clans
- Added Clans.

> One Clan can have up to 50 clan members.

> You can access the Clan chat feature in the main screen.

▶ Go to the Clan Guide

We felt that the current lobby chat system is too open for players to gather, share tips/info, and socialize with each, so we’ve added a Clan system for players to enjoy chatting and playing with fellow clan members.

Today’s introduction is meant to test the stability of the system first, and we plan to add content, events, and etc. for Clans if we deem the system as being well-implemented.

■ Additional Spectating Feature
- Added a feature to allow you to spectate other players who are in a game.

>In the UI to enter the game, you can choose to spectate and be able to enter the game immediately as a spectator.

- Click the Friends List or Clan Member List to view the sub-menu and spectate someone.

- Added a hotkey (Q) to allow you to use the Cheer function.

> You can cheer a player you are spectating by pressing the Q hotkey.

Being able to watch other players is something that can greatly help improve your game skills and can also offer an alternative when you want to take a break from actively playing the game.

That’s why we’ve added a feature to enter as a spectator to watch a friend’s, clan member’s, or random player’s game. You can also use the Cheer (Q) feature when you’re watching someone to earn some silver rewards whenever that player kills an opponent.

■ Heroes
- Changed the term shield endurance in the skill description to Guard Capacity.

- Added details for the changes of the next level to the skill descriptions of all Heroes.

- Fixed an issue where equipping gear and dying during the grace period (before the Blackstar awakens) sometimes caused you to revive in place.

- Improved Sprinting Jump Attacks to allow you to perform another action more quickly afterwards.
With the CC time of sprinting jump attacks having been adjusted to 0.7 seconds, we’ve reverted the delay after using a sprinting jump attack that was implemented to block infinite combos.

- Improved Sprinting Jump Attacks to allow you to perform another action more quickly afterward.

- Unleashed Beast (RMB): Fixed an issue where the skill’s effect was applied twice if the skill was enhanced.

- Added “Mark Damage” to the description of the related skills.

- Thunder Rip (3): Reduced the total damage (including mark damage) by approximately 11%.

- Uproot (2): Reduced the total damage by approximately 9%.

- Mirage (4): Reduced the mark damage by 11%.
Haru has recently risen to the position of the most powerful Hero. While she is Hero that has a high level of control with her stealth and double jump, she also made a strong showing in 1v1 situations with her powerful combos. As a result, we wanted to lower her strength in head-to-head situations by reducing her damage potential.

- Blood Flurry (4): Reduced damage by 11.5%.
We’ve recently been balancing Heroes around the direction of reducing the instances of taking someone down in one barrage of attacks. Hence, we’ve adjusted Goyen with this in mind.

- Asura Tread (RMB): Adjusted the skill as follows.

> Increased the charge distance by 0.7M.

> Reduced the attack range by 0.5M.

- Enhanced Sleeve Tangler (2): Fixed an issue where the inflicted damage did not match the skill description. Due to this change, the maximum damage has been increased as follows.

> Level 1: 40%

> Level 2: 17%

> Level 3: 17%

> Ultimate Level: 12.5%

- Sleeve Tangler (2): Fixed an issue where the grabbed opponent was sometimes moved behind Badal causing the skill’s strike to miss.

- Sleeve Tangler (2): Fixed an issue where the skill did not inflict damage when used near a wall.

Badal has undergone a lot of changes lately.

Our adjustments were intended to shorten combos that lasted too long or combos that were difficult to react to and were capable of dealing too much damage. However, Badal combos were inherently too long from the onset, so there came a limit to balancing with just damage reduction. Thus, we shortened his combos and increased the power of his skills.

Unfortunately, the July 2nd update set the damage incorrectly for his enhanced Sleeve Tangler (2). You'll notice that its damage was greatly increased in this update.

- Fixed an issue where the skill enhancement was being applied twice when using the following skills.

> Radiant Pursuit – Courage Stance (2), Radiant Slash – Courage Stance (3), Breath of Elion - Endurance Stance (3), Switch Stance (RMB)

- Changed Endurance Stance to only be switchable once Venslar’s guard capacity is fully recovered.

- Removed the Super Armor effect for Courage Stance when switching from Endurance Stance with her Guard Capacity completely consumed.

- Changed Venslar to no longer be able to immediately perform another action immediately after the animation that is displayed when her Guard Capacity is complete consumed in Endurance Stance.

- Shield Throw – Endurance Stance (1): Reduced the Knockback effect from 1.5 seconds to 1 seconds.
Venslar was able to maintain her shield stance even if her guard capacity was insufficient in Endurance Stance and there were barely any risks to just holding her shield back up when her guard was broken to block an opponent’s skills. As a result, we’ve made there be more clear risks for her when her guard breaks in Endurance Stance with this patch.

- Wing Breaker (2): Fixed an issue where using the skill while turning right caused it to apply as a Back Attack.

- Wing Breaker (2): Increased damage by 50%.
Using Wing Breaker (2) while turning right caused it to apply as a Back Attack. This is kind of play that was utilized by some extremely skilled players. We felt that instead of just removing it altogether, it would be better to make changes to allow all players to use it easily. That’s why we’ve increased the normal damage of Wing Breaker (2) to have the same damage that was applied as Back Attack damage instead.

- Fixed an issue where the Sandwich would not be visible when being used.

- Fixed an issue where the Matchlock would not be visible when being used.

- Fixed an issue where logging in with Lahn temporarily caused hair not to be visible in slow loading conditions.

- Death’s Crossing (3): Increased the total damage by 23%.

- Orchid’s Dance (RMB): Increased the damage by 24%.

> Increased the damage of the last hit by 33%.

> Increased the damage of the other hits by 11%.

- Fixed an issue where Lahn appeared unnatural when using the Dance (F4) Social Action.

Lahn, the Hero released last week, was designed to have impressive movement potential at the cost of lower damage potential, but in reality, it seems her damage was too low making it difficult for her to fight enemies. In order to give her more kill potential, we’ve raised the power of her combo-finishing skills: Death’s Crossing (3) and Orchid’s Dance (RMB).

■ Ancient Weapons and Red Dragon
- Added Blowback and Guard Break effects to all the attacks of Laytenn and Puturum in Solo, Duo, and AI matches.

> Note: This excludes Laytenn’s step attack when moving normally.

- Changed the Puturum that appears in the Ancient Weapons Showdown as follows.

> Increased the HP from 20,000 to 30,000.

> Increased the HP that was consumed every 3 seconds from 700 to 1000.

> The motion of Puturum flying into the air after you get on will now be 20% faster.

- Changed the Laytenn that appears in the Ancient Weapons Showdown as follows.

> Fixed an issue where riding Laytenn with Herawen/Orwen sometimes caused the laser to not inflict damage.

> Increased the cooldown of the Laser attack by 0.3 seconds.

> Reduced the projectile speed of the laser attack by 8,000 to 4,500.

> Increased the attack AoE when the laser attack hit from 200 to 250.

- Removed the warning message that appeared when using the Red Dragon’s Offering.

- Fixed an issue where the Red Dragon that was summoned by using the Red Dragon’s Offering would sometimes not attack and despawn.

Since many players might not know the existence of the Red Dragon in the beta season, we made warning message appear when the Red Dragon’s Offering was used. Now though, most players are aware of what the Red Dragon does, so we’ve removed this warning message in the hopes of the item becoming a kind of “turn the tide” factor.

■ Items
- If you defeat a Hero with Shadow Lord’s gear, they will now drop them at one grade lower.

> Shadow Lord’ Main Weapon/Sub-Weapon → Dandelion Main Weapon/ Dandelion Sub-Weapon

> Shadow Lord's Armor → Dim Tree Spirit's Armor

> Shadow Lord's Gloves → Bheg's Gloves

> Shadow Lord's Shoes → Muskan's Shoes

> Shadow Lord's Helmet → Giath's Helmet
The current game situation plays out with players snowballing as they keep getting kills, and the final remaining players have high-grade weapons and easily surpass the gear you can get by farming monsters. Therefore, we want to add more value to farming monsters to bring it closer to getting items from just kills, and the same time, to make fights at the end more intense and make it more possible to turn a fight around, we’ve made it no longer possible to immediately get red gear by killing another player. This change is part of the changes that will be implemented to prepare for the upcoming second round of the Beta season. We’ll be adding more changes next week as well.

■ Monsters
- Fixed an issue where the Hungry Black Spirit would still spawn and attack you even if you have the defeating the Mountain Stoneback Crab.

- Fixed an issue where the Shadow Lord would appear before its appearance time when you destroyed a Suspicious Cauldron.

■ Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed an issue where the practice Laytenn and Puturum did not appear in the Sparring Grounds of the EU/RU, NA, and SA servers.

- Fixed an issue where the following skills of the Herawen AI Bot dealt an abnormal amount of damage.

> Fairy Flame (RMB), Seed of Ice (1), Ancient Dragon's Breath (2)

- Changed the skill EXP obtained by defeating a Specter from 1500 to 1000.

- Fixed an issue where the Orwen AI Bot carried a dagger in her hand.

- Fixed an issue where the AI Bots would not sue the Dark Shift (Q) and Blink (E) skills.

- Fixed the distance AI Bots would travel when hit by a blowback skill to match normal Heroes.

- Changed the nicknames of AI Bots to be set randomly.

- Changed for a color to be displayed according to buff effects as follow.

> 0 - 49: White

> 50 - 74: Green

> 75 - 99: Blue

> 100 - 149: Yellow

> 150 or higher: Red

> 0 - 9: White

> 10 - 14: Green

> 15 - 19: Blue

> 20 - 24: Yellow

> 25 or higher: Red

- Limited the number of characters you can enter for the title to 15 when creating a room in Custom mode.

- Fixed an issue where the cursor was positioned leftwards in the name and password UI when creating a room in Custom mode.

- Changed the UI for creating a room in Custom mode to allow you to see all menus without having to scroll when setting the game mode.

- Changed the UI for turning off a party member’s voice chat in-game into a mic-shaped icon.

- Removed the Hero Mastery level that was displayed in the main screen and replaced it with your current Solo/Team mode tier.

- Changed the button to view the mastery of another Hero to view another Hero instead.

- Added a button in the main lobby to turn the background music on or off.

> This setting only applies to the main lobby and does not apply to the background music in-game.

- Fixed an issue where consumable items were consumed without the item actually being used when there is a server latency issue.

- Fixed an issue where the promotion UI and the game type selection UI did not adjust according to the resolution setting.

- Fixed an issue where the Cheer button was displayed for party members in Team mode.

- Changed the party UI to display a text bubble to the left when a party member chats in Team mode.

- Improved the in-game party UI to display a party member’s chat content in a text bubble.
