Sept 1 (Wed) Update Details




Here are the updates made to Shadow Arena during the maintenance on September 1 (Wed).

[h3] Separate Item Slots [/h3]

- Changed the shop and item inventory to 5 slots each.
- Changed so consumable Items slots and equipment slots are seperated.

- Changed the interface of party member information, survivor status, game results and slots.

[Dev Note]

Previously, there was no distinction between consumable items and equipment item slots. So depending on when the consumable items were acquired, the item number was always different because they were mixed in with equipment items. It was also very inconvenient as there were no free slots to obtain Red Dragon's Offering or Hand of Salvation if you already had a certain amount of equipment in the mid-to-late stage of the game. Therefore, by separating the consumable and equipment item slots, players can now manage consumable items without worrying about equipment items they've acquired.

- Increased basic moving speed while crouching by 20%.
- The roll motion for all heroes has been increased so invincibility has been reduced by about 0.2 seconds.

> Decreased the travel distance of roll by approximately 1m.
[Dev Note]
In the past, roll's invincibility used to last a long time, approximately 0.6 seconds, which naturally caused battles to drag on. Furthermore, even if the opponent's attack was avoided by rolling, there was insufficient time to counterattack, so it was only useful for evasion. As a result, we slightly increased the roll motion and slightly decreased the travel distance. This will decrease the duration of invincibility of roll and make battles more exciting by allowing players to target an opponent's weakness in a shorter amount of time, allowing it to be used as a "evasion to counterattack" concept rather than a "evasion to escape."

- Matchlock has been removed from the Black Spirit skill.

- [Dark Shift] skills have been changed to the following.

[Dev Note]

The previous Dark Shift skill allowed players to knockback and counterattack their opponents, so victory hinged on whether or not they had it equipped. Furthermore, the skill granted invincibility up to 3 seconds and the ability to return from Black Spirit form, which made it hard for opponents to predict the time to evade making it difficult to be used intuitively as a skill.
As a result, we changed it so that once Dark Shift is used, it will immediately knockback the opponents and the Dark Shift effect will be disabled when the opponents’ super armor effect ends. Since both the player and their opponents acquire the same transition time to the next move, the side with Dark Shift will have no advantage over the other. We hope that this will allow for "fair and strategical battles."

- [Kick] Increased cooldown from 25 sec to 30 sec.
- [Taunt] Decreased the duration time from 60 sec to sec.
- [Taunt] Increased AP against monsters from 150 to 300.
- [Taunt] Decreased the cooldown from 60 sec to 50 sec.
- [Electric Shock] Decreased the cooldown from 50 sec to 40 sec.
- [Hand of Healing] Decreased the cooldown from 75 sec to 60 sec.

[Dev Note]

In this update, the base HP and attack damage for “brawler-type” Heroes in Trio Mode were adjusted. Although their base HP was decreased, this is made up by the slight increase to their attack damage. These changes may blur their respective role in Trio mode, but they were made to address a performance gap situation where the difference in base HP could be as much as 3,300 (Jordine vs Ahon), which was the main issue. As a result, we decided to make these changes in order to narrow the balance gap for each hero, as this was an issue that needed to be addressed. We anticipate that these abrupt changes will have an impact on game play. We'll keep a close eye on the situation to see how it develops.

- Increased base AP from 200 to 220.

- Improved so blowback is applied when performing smash attack.
> With this change, the effect of blowback is applied 0.43 sec faster.








- Decreased base HP from 8000 to 7200.

- Increased base AP from 200 to 220.









- Decreased base HP from 6400 to 6200.









- Decreased base HP from 7000 to 6600.

- Increased base AP from 190 to 200.









- Decreased base HP from 8200 to 7300.

- Increased base AP from 180 to 210.









- Improved so a 10% movement speed buff is applied for 8 sec when getting a hit with all skills.









- Decreased base HP from 6200 to 6000.









ㅣHide-and-Seek (Q)

- Increased cooldown from 12 sec to 14 sec.









- Decreased base HP from 6500 to 6400.









- Decreased basic HP from 7300 from 6700.

- Increased basic attack from 200 to 210.



ㅣ Frightening Crow B (R)

- Improved the effect that appears when you successfully target enemies using the skill.









- Decreased base HP from 6300 to 6200.

- Fixed the issue where sound effect of repeatedly rolling to the right would not be played.




[h3]■ Dark Nebula [/h3]


- The Dark Nebula, previously appearing in a concentrated area near the center of the shrine has been changed so they are dispersed and appear in all areas.

- Improved so other sounds become smaller when appraching the Dark Nebula.

- Following improvements have been made to the Dark Nebula.
> Decreased the activation time of the Dark Nebula from 3 sec to 2 sec.

> Changed so buff effects are only gained if you sit in the Dark Nebula and will not be gained when lying down.

> Changed so you remain stealthed in the Dark Nebula when crouching.
> Improved so stealth is not disabled after 20 sec when you continue to sit in the Dark Nebula.
> The Dark Nebula will follow the Hero while crouching within it.
> If Heroes stand up or lie down, stealth mode and the Dark Nebula will be disabled.
> Improved so Fog vision range is doubled when gaining the Dark Nebula buff.

[Dev Note]

It was difficult to utilize the Dark Nebula as stealth would immediately be disabled if you moved while inside it. As a result, we changed the location of the Dark Nebula so that it would be near various major objects, and so that stealth would not be disabled even if you move while crouching in it. With this change, the Dark Nebula can be utilized more conveniently in battles and the ability to move the location of the Dark Nebula in advance will allow players to use it more diversly than before.


[h3]■ Dark Fog [/h3]


- Changed so the fog slowly decreases to a 15m radius from 13 to 15 minutes.

(Double the radius of Light of Ascension)

[Dev Note]

Even at 13 minutes, there was a wide safe zone, which made the game feel tediously long when playing defensively. Also, when a player is holding the Light of Ascension after 15 minutes, there was a tedency that players who bravely tried to stop them took a loss. Finally, we narrowed the final safe zone even further so that players could see each other and stay within range of each other, with hope that that everyone can participate in the final battle.


[h3]■ Monsters [/h3]


- Improved so Mountain and Steppe Stoneback Crab’s special effect to be applied precisely.

- The appearance location of the Mountain and Steppe Stoneback Crab has been changed to the following.
> (Before) : Appears in 1 out of 3 locations
→ (Now) : Appears in one specific location.



- Doubled the appearing number of Level 1 Blackstar Fragments.
> (Before): 25 Blackstar Fragments will appear in all areas at 0-1 minute
→ (Now): 50 Blackstar Fragments will appear in all areas at 0-1 minute


- Shadow Lords can now destroy Barriers nearby when they attack.

- Changed so Blowback is not applied when performing Gigagord’s jump attack.
[Dev Note]
During battles over objects, it can be aggravating for players when their hard-won conquest is thwarted by another player who uses Barrier to get the final hit on the object. Therefore, Shadow Lords will now be able to destroy all Barrier with each attack. Of course, Ataraxia's Garden of Rose A remains unaffected by this change, as the skill can still be used strategically.

- “Elixir of Corruption” item name and icon has been changed to “Berserker's Elixir.”

- Removed the text “Upon use” within the consumable item description.
[Dev Note]
As mentioned before, we will be adding a variety of consumable items. These items are directly related to survival and are quite powerful. However on the flip side, players may not be able to grow as much if they rely too much on these items, so it’s important to weigh the risks that are involved when purchasing these items.
- Decreased the HP effect of equipments by approximately 20%. Please see below for more information on the changes made to items for each mode.

Defense increases naturally until the match concludes in Solo mode which is why stacking HP is effective. Since survival is an integral part of the game, it may be more cost-effective to increase maximum HP instead of offensive abilities. However, this may create a scenario where players will only go for defensive builds which in turn will make rounds unexciting, which is why we decided to lower the overall HP effects on certain times. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom has announced the Children’s Code (or Age Appropriate Design Code). In accordance with this data protection code, we will be changing sign-ups and game/paid services to require the consent of parental/legal guardians for Players under the age of 18 starting Wednesday, September 1, 2021.


If you are an Player who is under the age of 18 and has previously used or is using these services, you will be requested the consent of your parental/legal guardian when you log in for the first time after this change.
