Notice on Pearl Abyss Account Registration for Steam Players

The scheduled update regarding the Pearl Abyss Account registration for Steam players and OTP service has been changed to February 16 (Tue) February 17 (Wed). (Modified)

After the update, please complete the Pearl Abyss Account registration process after starting the Steam launcher as explained below to continue enjoying Shadow Arena.

We would like to inform our Steam players about the recent updates on the “Pearl Abyss Account” service, in which you can enjoy the games Pearl Abyss services more conveniently with a single account.

: When signing up to Pearl Abyss, you can use all the websites and games of Pearl Abyss affiliates or subsidiaries with a single account (however, you will have to agree to the Terms of Service of each game before playing).

You can protect your Pearl Abyss account more safely by activating the OTP service, which is a two-step verification service that requires you to enter a one-time password each time you log in.

Players who are using the Steam launcher will be able to use this service after the maintenance on February 18 (Thu) February 16 (Tue) February 17 (Wed). (Modified)


However, please be noted that you need to register your Steam account as a Pearl Abyss account and provide additional information including your email address and region information as you need to have your email address verified to activate the OTP service. Therefore, please start the Steam launcher and complete this process to continue playing Shadow Arena.

Also, as our games are enjoyed globally, we are taking into consideration various aspects such as unique characteristics, laws, and local conditions of each region to provide a more adequate and optimized gameplay environment for our players. Hence, the serviced region of games playable with a Pearl Abyss account may differ, and players residing in certain regions may not have access to our game(s).

You will have to change your region information if Shadow Arena is not serviced in the region you have selected. If you need to make changes to your account information such as your name, region, or date of birth after registering your Steam account, please contact Support.

[DEV Notes]
Before we dive in to our patch notes, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by some issues related to normal combat.
We will do our very best to make sure such issues do not occur preemptively and put our utmost effort to correct issues that are critical to your gameplay as soon as possible.


[h3]■ Black Spirit Skills[/h3]
- Added stiffness resistance effect when using Matchlock.
- Changed Matchlock use to have approximately a second of shooting preparation time when clicking LMB before immediately being shot.
- Increased the time it takes for the next motion after shooting matchlock from 0.67 seconds to 1 second.

[DEV Notes]
We had an issue where monsters such as Shadow Lords could be immediately killed as Matchlocks had an effect that deals extra damage to Monsters.
Also, it had been hard for players to respond to their opponents' Matchlock attack, since it causes immediate damage and CC effects from afar unlike “Kick,” a Black Spirit skill.

While "Kick" has an advantage where players can continue on with combos in a melee range, "Matchlock" had a greater advantage on top of this where the player could inflict damage to the enemy from a long distance with a high amount of damage.
Thus, we have added a short delay in shooting to Matchlocks in a bid to reduce cases of it being used as a combo, and gave a more legroom for the opponent to dodge the skill.
Still we granted a stiffness resistance buff to Matchlocks so that the firing motion would not be interfered by the opponent’s basic attack.


[h3]■ Hero [/h3]

- Fixed an issue where Heroes could escape with Blink right after being hit by Vice of Badal the Golden.

[h3]■ Item[/h3]
- Changed the Attack Speed of Crooked Hook to show up on the below status information UI.
- Added “Ignore defense” to Crooked Hook item descriptions.
- Decreased the damage dealt proportional to the maximum HP of enemies of Crooked Hook from 3% to 2%.
- Fixed an issue where the cooldown of Chain Mail Armor was being applied as 35 seconds, not 30 seconds.

[DEV Notes]
Crooked Hook is an item made to keep the opponent’s growth and play in check.
However, as this item was too efficient since it afflicts a fixed amount of damage proportional to the enemy’s HP ignoring the defensive effect, we decreased the HP proportional figure to 2%.

Additionaly, we do know that the efficiency of certain items including Crooked Hook (i.e. items with buff by the number of hits) is affected by the number of hits made by the Hero. As such, we are preparing to make detailed corrections in the limit that does not damage each Hero’s concept. This correction can make a huge change in the battle, so we are planning to apply it in the next week update after going through various tests and internal verifications.

We would like to once again sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank our players for their unwavering support. We will continue to do our best to make Shadow Arena enjoyable.

We increased the amusement of controls by slightly increasing Venslar’s monster hunt efficiency and the response of Radiant Pursuit and Breath of Elion. We deleted the charge spec of Breath of Elion and modified the immediate casting effect.

[DEV Notes]
Hide-and-Seek (Q) of Wu-Ju was a skill that is very difficult to use with no significant advantage upon a successful hit. Therefore, we have changed the skill to be an explosive skill.




| Shield of Revenge (RMB)
- Fixed a typo in DP decrease buff message that is applied when the counter attack succeeds.

| Thunder Strike (Q)
- Changed charge to be enabled when maintaining skill.
> Smash attack will be enabled when cancelling charge.
- Improved the speed of smash attack to be faster after charging.
- Fixed an issue where moving after smash attack was awkward.

[DEV Notes]
It was hard to know intutively when and how Thunder Strike should be used. As such, we changed controls so the Thunder will be mainained when pressing Q, and the thunder to be instantly thrown when not pressing the Q.

| Final Stage of Battle
- Added 3 final stages that changes in every game-play.
1) Village near the Tulip Farm

| Objective
- Fixed the issue where the range of Light of Ascension would not be seen by the surrounding background.
- Reduced the flame damage of the Red Dragon by 12.5%.
> Players with DP 400 will lose approximately 8,500 HP when hit by the flame.
- The color of the Fairy of Light will change when a Hero approaches it.
- When the Fairy of Light reaches the Relic of Time, an effect will be shown indicating the activation of the Relic.
- Unified the appearance of Ancient Relics to be rectangular.
- Improved the visual effect shown when an Ancient Relic is destroyed.

[DEV Notes]
The newly added final stages are places where players can engage in fights using geographical features, for example, hiding in certain spots. Apart from mere changes in the location of the final stage, we expect team fights to be more diversified where teams have to plan strategies to ascend while looking out for other teams.

Also, obtaining the Ancient Relic (Red Dragon’s Offering) by a team, an objective added to vitalize the later part of battle, had too much advantage leading to the Light of Ascension. Therefore, we have reduced the overall damage for defensive/brawler type Heroes to better resist the flames of the Red Dragon. So, we try not to delete the elements that teams can take advantage of, but come up with solutions for others to respond to them, diversifying options players can take to win.

We would like to apologize for the issue where the range of ascension was covered and unseen in places near the water or hills. We have added dimensional effects to it for better visibility.

Players can engage in fights using geographical features by the newly added final stages.

[DEV Notes]
Chain Main Armor is the only gear that has Use Effects, but due to its high price and short duration of the effect, it could not be utilized well enough in battles. However, unlike other offensive items, it deals damage to enemies as passive, in which we are careful in adding high efficiency to it. Therefore we have added a pinch of upgrade to it in this update, and we hope players find it helpful in battles.

To prevent matches where players focus on raising DP to defend themselves to survive longer in battles in the later part of the match, we have added certain skills for Heroes and effects that “ignore and reduce DP” to items and objectives. This also implies that the advantage of purchasing defensive items has dropped. Therefore, we have added item “Cloak of Giants” that can help you survive longer regardless of your DP. We have also added “Corrupted Hook,” a final item purchaseable, for attacking players to respond to the heightened HP of the enemy.

- Changed the time UI on the right side of the World Map to only display the remaining time.

- Changed the default number of tokens provided in each play mode as follows:
  > Sparring Grounds: 100,000 Tokens

  > Trio: 600 Tokens (No changes) - Fixed the issue where the Back Attack damage would not exceed 191%.
- Fixed the issue where damage would not be applied when Ignore DP was 100% or higher.
 > Maximum Ignore DP will be limited to 100%.
- Fixed the issue where the background music would be turned on 2 minutes after the final stage begins.
- Fixed the issue where AI players would not be revived periodically. - Simplified phrases related to objectives or defeats.
- Fixed the issue where there would be no sound when an AI player dies.
- Enabled changing the status window in-game and settings for chat macro in the settings window.
- Fixed the issue where the kill streak information would not be reset when an AI player dies.
