Yet another post!

We have added a bunch of new content into the game and it is back to testing everything and writing down bugs. So far I have noted down at least 100+ stuff or (61 pages). We are still adding more stuff and will continue to do so after the testing.

But testing the game over and over is really the only way such an experience like this is better, this is true for most games, it also makes me blind to stuff which is why we frequently take in playtesters to verify everything is being played as expected.

It is amazing that we are in a luxury position of redesigning some parts that we thought was really “it is good enough to be shipped into the game” and be able to go in and really try to make something good, not necessarily rip everything out but able to really make something that will be appreciated. If Everhood were to be made in a “traditional game studio” most manpower would have been started looking into another project as “the game is already finished”, but we are just focusing down on Everhood, to just squeeze in stuff without feeling bloated or inconsistent but just make the game more interesting. Something I felt that the game really could have is more environmental art and I got tons of ideas, I just needed that extra time to pull it off. I suspect I will be doing a lot of that stuff during late november, probably earlier because I am always underestimating how much time it takes.

We get a steady supply of fanart from a bunch of artists which is awesome!

I am always happy to put in artists who haven’t done art before here!

Make sure to repost in the fanart channel in discord, we always peek in there because it's filled with awesome.

Re-evaluating the game!

We have started looking more into how to adjust more of the core-problem we encountered that we did not feel we had time to adjust even if they were good suggestions.

Mostly all playtesters have reported they enjoyed the game except for a few parts, some are major things to tackle but mostly minor stuff.

So we have decided to take on a major part and see if we can get that to a state that feels better, I am sure we are able to tackle it and it will only take a few months, I usually have a tendency to underestimate how long something actually takes(rare in the industry, hah).

We have also gotten some help from several people doing things for us for free for Everhood, I don’t want to name call them here but they will all be mentioned in the credits when the game is released, I hope you know that it is very appreciated of all the things you do to help me and Jordi.

Me and Jordi have done most of the game but there are many parts that I don’t think we could have done alone and I am very grateful to have the Everhood in the quality it is right now, even thou the game is currently broken as we are fixing some stuff :)

Game release post poned

Game release is postponed

Unfortunately we have to postpone the release for Q4

We know you been waiting, it sucks, we know

But we want to be transparent with you

It is not because of any development issues or problems that have occurred during playtesting, though some problems have appeared but we are confident we can solve them in time.

We reached out to marketing firms that focus primarily on games and we got the advice that if we can, we should postpone the game to 2021 Q1 mainly due other big budget games tend to release during Q4.

Some of you might ask that it shouldn’t really compete with a game like Everhood, it has nothing todo with Cyberpunk 2077 or assassin creed valhalla?

Yes, that is true but they also take up spots which leaves less chance of us getting any traction.

From that perspective it makes sense, and we are in a position that we can wait with the release as we haven’t put our entire savings on this project and we could if we wanted work for a very long time, but we feel we want to release what we have as soon as possible.

I hope you understand our decision as we also want to release the game, but rather than pushing ourselves into a finish line when we know that the game could do _better_ if released later we rather wait that extra time and focus on polishing the game.

This is not something we will change our mind as we have already confirmed this with other partners and adjusted our schedule.

On brighter news is that
We will be putting our efforts in having a custom battle editor alongside release and see if there is anything else we can make within the extra time we have gotten to squeeze in a few extra stuff

Polish, polish, polish

We been asking some playtesters to play the game

Initial response has been positive and so far not so many bugs at all, just some balancing issues which have been easy problems, it is said that if a game is too hard it's easy to make it easier and that is true.

We thought about some life-quality(great features that helps a lot, usually things you find in options) and already implemented some which feels great!

But we are holding our tongue and still trying to dig out anything bad, we always try to keep a lookout of game breaks or saves becoming corrupt and doing weird things with the game

As of now we have also started developing the release trailer, we are starting with some internal mockups, I think you can expect similar things like the previous announcement trailer as we thought it was good but want to have a faster beginning and maybe just get it overall a bit more polish towards the end. We will also make sure to have a chinese version as Surefire asked for previously but time was limited back then

That is what is mainly going on at the moment!

We also like to mention that we have decided the name for Vampire boy, but we won’t reveal it until the game is released! (SORRY NOT SORRY!)

So we will be taking away the vamprieboy channel until release on discord

Exciting days are coming and we can’t wait to show the full game! :)

Also one of our discord member (@sawn) started an indiegogo page, give them some support !
