Devlog 48: 💕 New Romanceables

Hey there, lovely Pachans! 💕 It's time for a love-filled chapter of the Pachan Prophecies in honor of the day. In today’s update, we’re unveiling exciting new details about two new romantic characters, which also means some heartfelt new child dialogues—just in time for Valentine’s!

And remember, if you wish to learn about these characters on your own, now is the perfect time to stop reading 💕
Two Romanceable Characters

Sayra of the Yakuans
After a heartbreaking change in her life, Sayra moved to the island to live near her brother Ugvin and his daughter Fayra. Overall, she keeps a cheery attitude, although she still carries a lingering hurt that still needs healing.

She loves being creative and helping with the two kids on the island, and she always gets excited when you give her popcorn.
Azkel of the Mograni
You will notice that many considered Azkel a hero, as he dedicated his life to disbanding raider clans. But as time went on and one adult daughter later, he is starting to face the fact that life isn’t what it used to be – and maybe that's okay.

He can usually be found hunting, as it helps him clear his mind. But he's more than a little appreciative if you give him pierogies.

Many in the community mentioned wanting an older romanceable character, which would allow us to explore more about a character's past and their more established life before meeting the player.

Azkel was inspired by the idea of a “silver fox” who became a rogue hero type, so having him become vulnerable with his feelings felt like a perfect match for character growth and romance. Although Sayra isn’t as old as Azkel, she has a past on her own, including a time when she was in love.
Two sets of child dialogue
With two new characters players can form unions with, that means we now have new possible dialogues and hairstyles for children.

We’re so glad players are enjoying this aspect of the game. We put a lot of love and dedication into it. We hope those who choose to romance Sayra or Azkel will enjoy meeting the children you’ll have together with them.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Devlog 47: 🐄 New Animals & Animal Mutations

Hello Pachan friends, We’re back with another Pachan Prophecy! Today, we’ll share some details about the animals in the 1.3 update. As always, if you want to be surprised by the new animals you encounter, take this as your 'spoiler alert' warning from here on.

It’s easy to fall in love with the animals we encounter in the wild. Many of us have since befriended these lovely creatures, inviting them to live with us either as pets or on our farms. So, of course, the new regions needed to have some new animals. Who wouldn’t want a dodo as a pet? 😀
New Animals
With this new update, we’re introducing four new animals to the game. Dodo, mouflon (ancient sheep), sivatherium (ancient giant giraffe), and panda.
New Farm Animal
The mouflon can still be found in our world today, but its ancient history plays an important role. Considered one of the ancestors of modern-day sheep, it will join your farm once you befriend it. You’ll encounter this fine-footed friend in the mountainous region that the Mograni’s call home.
New Pets
The sivatherium was suggested by a Kickstarter backer who pledged at the animal tamer tier and chose it for its prehistoric awesomeness. You’ll be able to find this new animal in the lowlands of the Tundra. Though it may resemble a reindeer, this prehistoric pal is actually more closely related to a giraffe and okapi.

The fabulous, feathered friend, the dodo will live in our homes and become our pet. But don’t worry, your cave lions and wolves will treat them as friends, not food.

The panda was another fantastic suggestion by a Kickstarter animal tamer tier backer. As we explored its prehistoric origins, this animal became even more intriguing. Fossils of these bi-colored bears have been discovered in Asia and Eastern Europe. While their evolutionary roots remain a mystery, their undeniable cool factor is timeless.
Evolution through Domestication
As you explore the new caves mentioned in a previous post, you’ll come across items allowing you to breed animals in a new way. For example, you’ll be able to breed goats from your forest ibex and sheep from the new mouflon, which you’ll encounter in the Tundra.

We hope you’ll enjoy meeting these cuties. We sure did enjoy making them!

Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned for more prophecies.

Devlog 46: ❄️🌴New Regions

Access the Tundra region and Turtle Islands where the Mograni and Yakuans live

Hi, lovely Pachans! We’re back for another Pachan Prophecy! We hope you had a wonderful holiday. We've rested and recharged, ready to continue work on the 1.3 update for you all 🙂

Today, we’ll explore the two new regions. We don’t think we are giving too much away here, but spoilers may be ahead depending on how “fresh” you want to go into the update.

We’ve already met some characters outside our clan, like Touk, Vallah, and Zeda from the Mograni, the people of the fire-loving northwest of The Land. As well as Krak, Brub, and Inza from the Yakuans, the people of the sea-loving south of The Land. But we’ve never seen where they actually live and come from - until now.

After completing the Forest Caves, Inza and Zeda will invite you to their camps, each asking for a small favor. So, just like other updates in the past, no “new” saves will need to be created to enjoy this content.

Explore the lands of the Mograni and Yakuans by traveling to their camps and visiting their sub-regions. You’ll discover new seeds, animals, their culture, and if you wish, play mini-games such as “Dice” in the Tundra or perform a song on the Turtle Islands. The Mograni and Yakuans have heard about what your clan has accomplished, and each has a new Idea they would like your help with. Then, as you complete more of the main story (if you haven’t already), an additional Idea will arise in each area.

When designing the regions, we wanted them to reflect their more spread-out nature and how that contrasts with the life the Pachans live. For example, the Mograni “follow power,” so their Leader, Zeda, and the clan’s spiritual advisor, Anda, sleep alone in a Cave on a hill. While most of the Mograni prefer to sleep “independently” in tents.

As for the Yakuans, they follow “tradition” but are slightly more community-driven. They have something a little similar to the Pacha Hearth, where people gather. However, unlike the Pachans, they live spread out and rarely interact with one another.

Relatively little is known about our ancient history, which leaves a lot of room for imagination. When we take inspiration from the past for our new regions, we like to imagine what a collective history might look like and how it could be shaped by the cultures of the clans we’re creating.

We hope you’ll enjoy the new regions—we’re so excited to share them with you! In the next Pachan Prophecy, we’ll talk more in detail about the new animals we’re introducing.

Until then, take care, and thank you for being amazing!

Devlog 45: 😶‍🌫️A mysterious visitor
Welcome to the Roots of Pacha 1.3 Prophecies Series!
In the coming months, we will be focusing on Update 1.3 for Roots of Pacha, which will be our final massive update for our Kickstarter content. We’re incredibly proud of the team’s work on this update so far and can’t wait to see the final results of the team’s combined efforts and creativity once it all comes together!

Some of our future Pachan Prophecies (otherwise known as Devlogs) may include details that you might prefer to discover on your own. While we will try not to give too much away about the story, the Pachan Prophecies will contain more in-depth information. We’ll mark some with “spoiler alert” for those who want to enjoy some details without revealing everything. But you may want to steer clear of our devlogs if you want

First of all, we wanted to thank you for all the support you have given us throughout the years. The amount of love that has been shown for this game is beyond gratifying. That’s why we want to get this update to you as soon as possible, which we expect to be sometime in the spring of 2025.

The 1.3 update will introduce new features and content across all aspects of the game. Today we’d like to focus on a mysterious visitor who will play a role in helping you find all there is to discover in Roots of Pacha.

And before we get into some of the update details, we want to give an extra special thank you to all who have filled out our survey. We never thought we’d get such a massive response, even in our wildest dreams! If you’d like to add your voice to the survey, you can find it here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/55Y3RK8 (and our privacy policy HERE)

[On to the possibly spoiler-y side of things!]
A Mysterious Visitor
Once you complete the main story, you’ll encounter a mysterious figure who introduces you to a new mechanic, bug-catching. This will enable you to retrieve items that will allow you to venture into some new caves.

Inside these caves, you’ll discover new materials and ideas for working with them. But that’s not all. Bug catching opens the door to learning line fishing, where you can use your catch as bait for even more exciting fishing adventures!

There is so much we’d love to include in Roots of Pacha, but the more we add, the longer it will take to reach you. After this patch, we hope to continue adding content if the game continues to sell and allows us to sustain development. As much as Roots of Pacha is near and dear to our hearts, we are starting to dream about what a second Soda Den game could look like.

We can’t wait for you to play the update, but we still have more cooking to do in the game development kitchen. Starting next year, however, we will return to our old cadence of sharing Pachan prophecies, where we’ll dive deeper into the new regions where the Mograni and Yakuans live.

Until then, we wish you a happy holiday and a happy new year!
