We admit, it has been some time since our last devlog. But as we reach the later stages of development, we're ready to start discussing some of the recent major changes we've made to the game. Buckle up, this will be a long one!

Let's start by discussing the thing you're probably the most curious about - the Career Mode! Yacht Mechanic Simulator 2021 was always meant to have an engaging campaign with natural player progression. You will begin your journey with limited funds and access to only some of the cheaper yacht models. As you start earning more money, you will gradually gain access to bigger, more impressive, and more expensive vessels. Moreover, you can charge a premium for redecorating a yacht completely - the more work you do, the more valuable your boat will be. It won't be long before you get a chance to experience a short preview of the campaign mode so stay tuned for updates!

Speaking of yachts, every month we've been adding a new yacht model to the game. We already have quite a few of them finished and most of the armada is ready to sail! Check out our most recent addition below:



Meanwhile, there was a lot of work on expanding the audio side of this project. In order to maximize immersion, we've implemented dozens of new sounds and noises, in addition to tweaking the ones already present in the game. All of the new sounds are also scalable, meaning that their intensity will differ depending on the situation.

We're also improving the economy. This wasn't our main concern at the time when our demo was released, since it was mostly a proof of concept and a bit of sandbox-y fun. But now that the Career Mode is looming over the horizon, it's about time to make some changes - and so we did! All of the prices in YMS2021 have been completely rebalanced. Additionally, there are new sources of revenue as well as new expenses to take into account. Even your trusty tools might show signs of wear and tear over time.

Finally, you're prayers have been answered and YMS2021 is getting a proper inventory system! No more selling and repurchasing cables that are in the way. Now you can just put them aside and use them at a later date.



Aside from all of that, we're fixing various bugs, either the ones that you reported or the ones that our QA team spotted. We're preparing a new, bigger version to share with you and our current priority is to make sure that it plays smoothly. Speaking of which, there is an announcement we need to make - as of today, it's no longer possible to play our public demo.

The reason is simple - our demo was getting rather old. We published it during our Kickstarter campaign and it hasn't changed since then, as we've been working on the main game. At this stage, our demo shows some outdated mechanics and features bugs that are long gone by now. It's about time we say goodbye. Of course, our backers will still keep their access but the demo will no longer be publically downloadable. Worry not, you will get something much cooler this summer! :goldenstarDPW:

That is all for this devlog. This is just the tip of the iceberg though, as there are many, many more things we did since our last update. The last months have been very intense for the Yacht Mechanic Simulator team. We’ve been pushing our work to the next level! Thanks to that we’re thrilled to show you new stuff that just arrived to the game. It brings us one step closer to the final release that is going to be public this year. The game is looking brighter every day especially thanks to the feedback you left us. It’s time for the update’s info!

[h2]The Update [/h2]

For the past months, we have been listening to your wishes. Our top priority was to update the game with what you wanted to have in it, especially the new boats. We are proud to say that the new ships have sailed! We have finished the models of most of our planned yachts, now that our roster was refreshed by these newcomers. Check them out!



We care about every detail of each boat. It is going to be your job to do anything you can in order to make the boat sail freely on the ocean. Buy the parts, replace them, unscrew them, and of course make sure a yacht stays clean by brooming and treating it with the pressure gun! You can do all sorts of stuff. And of course, it is all applicable to our new sailing representatives. Don’t forget to test them out once you know the boat’s good to go, but don't treat them too harshly!

Besides that, we fixed some bugs. Now the game works smoother. Moreover, we're hard at work to provide you with rebindable keys and controller support once the game officially comes out! This was one of the more requested features of our demo players and we took that request seriously.
