Devlog or “what's happening lately?”

☀️ Hello everyone! ☀️

You’re often asking about the progress on Yacht Mechanic Simulator. We’ll be more than happy to answer those questions today!

We’re working hard to provide you with an enjoyable experience of bringing old yachts to life. We have two models fully finished and we’re preparing more, to give you a variety of boats to choose from. Actually, we wouldn’t be surprised if we tweaked the first two, as we come back to them with a fresh mind later!

When it comes to the overall look of the game, we already achieved great quality. However, we’re perfectionists at heart, so we continue working on this part as well, until we are honestly satisfied with the looks. This is going to be a realistic game; sadly, we won’t be able to give you the feel of the sea breeze, but we can help your imagination to do the job.

Speaking of ideas - there are some parts of the game where the gameplay must speak for itself, instead of forcing you to fill in the blanks with your imagination. We pay great attention to even the smallest details, to make sure that the direct work on the yacht won’t be clunky. With that in mind, we already finished most of the mechanics and animations.

In real life, screwing parts has its physics and those can’t be altered. Otherwise, the whole construction won’t hold together for a long time. To develop the same mechanics, we watched closely what the process of fixing real boats looks like and then we successfully transferred it into the game. Sometimes imitation is the best way of doing something right.

Developing the deck cleaning mechanic was really time consuming, because of how complex it is. You will have to get rid of the old furniture, walls, floors, lights. It will also be a good idea to refresh the whole interior before you start arranging it from scratch and modernising it. It does sound like a step-by-step process and we had to make sure that each of those steps is working properly.

You know what kept us awake at night? Side-washing the yacht! You’ll get to use a hose with water under high pressure and, believe us, animating it was a real challenge. Water interacts differently with different surfaces, so we needed to adjust the animations to make sure the process feels natural.

The mechanic of exchanging parts is also finished, as we’re working simultaneously on other games and we’re trying to use similar methods across titles from our portfolio. What was also very helpful was our own experience with yachts - all this combined helped us make this mechanic very realistic.

With all of those features finished, we can focus on the remaining elements of the process. Mechanically, the biggest challenge for us, so far, was the yacht’s engine and replacing it, so we keep on polishing that part.

Phew… That’s a lot!
It was just a brief recap on some of the changes, but we already can’t wait to share the future updates with you. It is even possible that we will have a cool surprise for you next time 😉 Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Yacht Mechanic Simulator - FAQ
When is the game releasing? I want to fix and drive the boats NOW!
Please be patient for a bit longer. We will keep you updated on the development of Yacht Mechanic Simulator and when we’ll be ready to announce the release date, you’ll be the first to know!
Are you planning to release a demo of the game?
If you all really want it, we can definitely think about it!
What can you actually do in the game? Paint the yachts? Install new furniture? What else?
First of all, you can buy a crappy boat and fix it up. Clean it, wipe it, paint it, put in new equipment and fix whatever is broken. Once everything is nice and shiny, you can think about some visual tuning and finally put the yacht on sale to get money for new projects. You can also take on jobs and gain sailing ranks.
How will I be able to fix the boats? I don’t want to do a sloppy job…
There’s nothing to be afraid of - the game will explain what each element does and what requires fixing. Give it a couple of tries and you’ll be a pro yacht mechanic!
I have a soul of an interior designer, so I want the interiors of my yachts to be stunning. Is that possible?
Of course it’s possible - Yacht Mechanic Simulator is in a way like House Flipper, but with yachts. There are tens of elements waiting for you - railings, couches and chairs or even clocks.
What happens after I pimp my yacht?
It depends what your goal was. If you had a fixing contract, your job is done. But if you want to put it up for auction, don’t hesitate and try to sell it for as much, as you can!
So how many yachts are there going to be in the game? How big are they going to be? You know, they may be small or big…
Our goal is to put 12-15 boats in the game. They will differ in many aspects, including price - while you’ll be able to get the the cheapest and smallest boats even for $15-20k, the most expensive ships will cost up to 30 million dollars!
Alright, which boat will be the biggest?
The biggest yacht in the game will be 33 meters long. That’ll require some work!

Hobbies and games that come together. Why Yacht Mechanic Simulator?

It is wonderful to be passionate about something. Find an activity you enjoy doing and which enables you to try out and learn new things. It is great when you get to do it in your spare time, even better when it becomes your job, because you are basically doing what you love for a living. When we came up with the idea for Yacht Mechanic Simulator, we were mostly thinking about what we would like to play as a form of replacement, if got disconnected from our hobbies.

Being keen on something, combined with being a game developer is a perfect mix. You can make games about various topics, which at first may seem completely incompatible with virtual entertainment. It is thanks to the fact that you have enough knowledge on specific subjects, so you are able to use it and create good games, which reflect reality in their mechanics. Thanks to this expertise, you can familiarize the player with the best aspects of your interests.

Because of our interest in yachts and sailing (and making games!), we have decided to create a simulator that will give players the opportunity to look at this passion from the best perspective possible - professional. We were wondering, what we - yachts’ enthusiasts - would like to see in such game? Which part of the hobby lured us in the first place, when it was just beginning to develop? We wanted to be authentic and put existing processes into the game. Thanks to that, people who already know yachts well, will find themselves in familiar conditions and those playing for the first time will feel they are doing something close to reality, while having fun at the same time.

Yachts are wonderful vehicles, interesting both from the outside and the inside. They operate with the help of extensive machinery, so working on them will, for sure, delight many engineers. Their layouts are marvelous. No matter which size you choose, the designers always put their whole heart into the yachts’ appearance. They are able to take people on wonderful adventures, allowing them to visit magnificent places. They are associated with luxury, spending your free time in unusual places or simply being on vacation. Our goal for the players was not only to work on yachts and admire them , but also to feel the atmosphere around these machines, unmatched by anything else.

Making a game about something we know and like is a wonderful experience. We were given the opportunity to use our entire knowledge in order to create a game which will show other people how entertaining our hobby can be. We hope there will be many similar enthusiasts among our players, but we also believe that we will be able to spread our passion for yachts to other people.
