⏰ New Update Alarm for PC & Steam Deck

Wake up, dreamers! Our first update has arrived.

With over 200,000 player deaths (and counting), we figured it was time to give you a few more tools to fight back… or at least die in slightly more comfort.

This update brings quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, a touch more light, and some important fixes for those of you playing on Steam Deck. Let’s dive in:

🌕What’s New

  • Locked 60 FPS option for those who prefer their nightmares smooth as butter
  • FPS Canvas now scales with resolution (no numbers for ants!)
  • Automatic language detection will pick the right localization based on your Steam UI
  • Chapter 1, Level 15 — Music no longer restarts every time you die. You’re welcome!
  • Chapter 3, Level 8 — Scene lighting updated to make that one item easier to spot

🌓What’s Fixed

  • Fixed issues with Steam Deck optimization not applying
  • Cleaned up control hint layout for Steam Deck (shout-out to @Amferatus for the catch!)
  • Fixed inconsistent font sizes in Portuguese
  • Fixed typos in the German localization
  • Chapter 3, Level 16 — Fixed a bug where music would stop permanently after dying at the end (it was pretty creepy)
  • Fixed a few other behind-the-scenes bugs. Some harmless, some… not so much.

One more thing: if you have bought and enjoyed Through the Nightmares, please consider leaving us a review! Steam reviews matter even in the dream world. Trust us, we know.

Thank you for dying, retrying, and dreaming with us!

200,000+ Deaths and Counting

Hey everyone,

We’re excited to announce that in just three weeks since launch, Through the Nightmares players have collectively racked up over 200,000 player deaths. And the number keeps rising!

Whether you charged at Morpheus head-on or slipped up on one of the (many) tricky platforms, every spectacular demise has been making us happy as the developer. We’re love to see many of you embrace the challenge (and often the agony) of escaping the Nightmare. THANK YOU!

Through the Nightmares Launches June 19th

Hi everyone,

It still feels a bit unreal to write this, but it’s official:

Through the Nightmares launches on June 19th.

We’ve spent years working on this game — chasing wild dreams (and sometimes losing our minds). If you’ve played the demo, gave feedback, or even added it to your wishlist, you’ve been part of this journey. Thank you.

To celebrate, here’s a fresh look at what’s coming:

We’ll be back soon with more updates. But for now, we just want to say:

This is happening. The game is finished. And we can’t wait for you to finally play it.

See you in the nightmares on June 19th!

Sweet dreams,
Sandman Team

Through the Nightmares arrives June 2025! Check out our new trailer on IGN

Hey dreamers!

We’ve been dying to share this news: Through the Nightmares is officially launching in June 2025 on Steam and other platforms!

To celebrate, our brand-new trailer is now live on IGN’s YouTube channel, showcasing an action-packed glimpse of Sandman, Morpheus, and some of the setpieces waiting for you in the game.

We’ve also treated our demo to a fresh update — go check it out and let us know what you think!
And that’s not all: we have a sparkling new cover art, courtesy of our friends at Pingle, who will be bringing Through the Nightmares to consoles. Don’t you just love that yellow?

(The most eagle-eyed of you will notice we’ve also updated the game’s logo. It’s the same idea, just… nicer.)

One more thing… We have a cool new studio logo!

It still feels surreal — we’ve been working on TTN as a three-person team since 2016, and it’s hard to believe we’re this close to waking up having the game out. Thank you for sticking with us on this journey!

We’ve got some more announcements to make before June, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, join our Discord if you’d like an inside look at the final stretch of development!

Sweet dreams,
Sandman Team
