Launch Day!

šŸŽ‰ we did it! The Song of The Fae (SoTF) is officially in Early Access. Phew.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

What does this mean? Well, it means we need your support & feedback. After almost 3 years of work during nights, weekends and spare moments we have a build of SoTF that captures our vision of the game. But is it complete? Hell no.

SoTF is a highly replayable, procedurally generated game. Currently it has three biomes, two bosses an assortment of enemies and challenges to overcome. All in all a winning run will take 20-30 minutes (though I suspect it'll take you a few attempts šŸ˜‰). We intend for this to increase in length and breadth but it will remain a one-sitting kind of game.

Once we've dealt with the launch-day bug reports we will start working on the first content update. This will likely feature an additional biome and boss along with increased unit & map variety.
As we grow SoTF we need players (like you!) to help us find the fun and refine the overall design of the game. We've still got a long path ahead of us and we appreciate every one of you who comes on this journey with us.

The game is launching at $10 USD with a 10% launch discount. We plan to increase the base price as the game approaches a 1.0 release, this means that SoTF is currently the cheapest it will be for the foreseeable future. So, yeah, buy it if it looks good? Please?

As with any game launch we expect some of you will run into bugs, you can report issues to us via the Steam community and our Discord.

Please be patient with us, we have very limited time to work on the game but rest assured we will read all posts and prioritise fixing bugs ASAP even if we can't respond to everyone.

Aside from bugs, we'd also love to see any cool moments you have in-game so please share them with us via the Steam community, Discord or Twitter.

For those of you who (for whatever reason) feel compelled to support us beyond buying + playing the game, we also have a Patreon.

Thanks for all your support, hope you enjoy the game!

Live on Patreon

In our last newsletter update I mentioned the Patreon and our plans for Early Access on The Song of The Fae. Well, our plans have come to fruition.

I'll cut to the chase, as of right now anyone who supports us on Patreon at $9USD tier (or more) will get access to the current build of The Song of The Fae via itch.io for both Windows and macOS. Because of how we're using itch.io you can technically buy the game for a one time payment, but I've set the price at $50USD which is definitely much more than what we'll be charging on final release.

Anyone backing at the highest tier will also get access to source code snapshots. I plan to release those monthly so expect the first one around the end of July.

✨ Get access now ✨

If you would like to stream, record or cover the game in media capacity then you are free to do so. All I ask is that you direct people to our Patreon and notify us of any coverage :)

If you'd like to discuss the game, report bugs or just vibe with us then you can join the TwoPM discord community. I'm not a huge discord user but I do read every message eventually.

Last but not least, I've attached some updated screenshots of the game in action.

Thanks for all the support so far, we're proud of the game today but we are incredibly excited to see what it can grow into.

Public Demo 3 is here!

Hello friends, hope the year is off to a good start for you. It took us a few weeks but we’re picking the momentum back up on The Song of The Fae (SoTF) and we’ve got a special announcement…

SoTF is participating in the Steam Games Festival, kicking off February 3rd!

We are launching our third public demo (how the time flies) and brings quite a few new features:

 • Massive balance changes
 • Unlimited units in your party
 • Units ā€œelementsā€ (fire, air, water, earth, wood, metal)
 • Refined and redesign UI
 • Performance improvements & bug fixes
 • A simplified tutorial šŸ˜‰

We’d love to hear your thoughts on twitter and/or discord, after the Steam Games Festival ends the demo will no longer be available.
What’s next?
First off, we’re extremely happy with how the game is progressing. Yes, we’re taking our time but we’re also making leaps and bounds forward in the design space lately.

This will be the last free public demo & the demo will no longer be available after this festival. This will allow us to focus on spending the following months preparing the game for Early Access, which will initially be done through Patreon to keep the audience limited.

We will use this time to implement some massive new features we’re planning right now, including:

 • Deeper procedural generation of battles
 • Massively improved replayability
 • ā€œTraitsā€ which give each unit unique gameplay abilities and/or afflictions
 • More varied encounters
 • More bosses
 • The story we’ve been planning to tell this whole time

So, please, check out The Song of The Fae: Demo 3 and let us know what you think!

Join us on Discord, stream and/or record your gameplay and follow along on twitter to keep a close eye on development. Oh, and subscribe to The Tearoom if you haven’t already.

Until next time,
šŸµ Ben
