Only twenty days left until the release of "Esports Godfather"!!!

Hello everyone, I'm 1000water, the producer of "Esports Godfather".


Thank you all coaches for your patience! We are now just twenty days away from the official release of "Esports Godfather", and we are in the final stages of preparation and bug fixing. So far, everything is progressing smoothly, and the game will be launched on May 24th as scheduled.


Recently, we have received many inquiries regarding pricing and specific plans. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to communicate our plans with everyone.


Firstly, regarding pricing, the official version of "Esports Godfather" will be priced at 78 RMB in the domestic market (19.99 USD in the US, and 129 HKD in Hong Kong) upon release. We will offer a promotional discount of 12% off during the first two weeks, making the price around 68 RMB in the domestic market (17.6 USD in the US, and 113.5 HKD in Hong Kong).


Additionally, we will be launching a new trial version around May 16th. This trial will include customizable options, all heroes, six matches in the internet cafe league, and six matches in the amateur league, offering approximately 5 hours of gameplay. Moreover, we will ensure compatibility between the trial version and the official version saves.


For those still hesitant about purchasing the full version of "Esports Godfather", you can use this trial version to make your final decision. Except for some locked features and incomplete systems, the trial version will provide a consistent experience with the full version.


However, regarding the new trial version, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the previous flawed data management. Due to this issue, the previous "Esports Godfather: Internet Cafe League" had some corrupted data which rendered the game unplayable. We will replace it with a new APPID for the trial version, accessible at:

Upon the launch of the new trial version, we will shut down "Esports Godfather: Internet Cafe League". I deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


After the official release of "Esports Godfather", we plan to continue improving the game for at least six months, until the end of 2024. We have allocated sufficient funds for this purpose, so rest assured, May 24th is just the beginning for us, not the end of the journey.


As for future updates, the World Championship module has been confirmed. We estimate spending three months to refine and develop the World Championship as the ultimate challenge.


Furthermore, regarding hero additions, I want to mention that while we initially stated there would be 54 heroes, there might only be 53 upon release. This discrepancy occurred because I counted some heroes twice due to having multiple portraits. To compensate for this mistake, we plan to introduce four additional heroes for free after the release.


Now, regarding promotion.


Those who follow us on Bilibili may have noticed my recent posts.

I want to explain to everyone who follows us why we have decided not to engage in commercial cooperation for promoting the game. There are primarily two reasons for this decision.


Firstly, there have been instances of fake positive reviews on games recently launched on Steam. We have also received numerous advertisements regarding "controlling reviews" lately. From a personal perspective, I consider this behavior unjust. From the standpoint of our studio, we firmly oppose any form of review manipulation. A good game is good on its own merits; it doesn't need artificially inflated reviews or similar activities.


Secondly, I have personally experienced some exaggerated promotion of games resulting from commercial cooperation. I ended up purchasing some poorly made games. This experience led me to believe that the credibility of game media promotion has significantly declined due to the actions of a few who exploit the system. This reminded me of the Atari Crash, and I don't want to be part of such practices or contribute to them.


Therefore, for the future of "Esports Godfather," we will not engage in any form of commercial cooperation for game promotion, nor will we spend any money on game promotion.


I know many of you are concerned about our survival. I want to thank you all for your support. However, I have to say that, as I mentioned during "Variable 2," there are only two ways for a game studio to fail: losing the ability to create quality content or losing the motivation to create quality content. Survival is not the critical issue; the reason we established Small Asteroid Studio was to create unique and innovative games, provide players with new experiences, and fulfill the dreams of everyone in the studio. I believe this purpose is just, and I don't want to achieve it through what I consider unjust means.


I admit that refraining from commercial cooperation for promotion is a risky move, but opportunities for risk are rare. I'm genuinely curious whether, in today's world, gold eventually shines or if good wine is indeed afraid of deep alleys.

Now, getting back on track. It's only 30 days until the release of "Esports Godfather"! Are you all excited? Here, I will report to the coaches the latest development progress of "Esports Godfather".


First and foremost, the feature that everyone cares about the most: Player Customization!


Now! Coaches only need to enable player customization in the settings of the new game to enter the player customization section. In this section, coaches will receive a certain amount of player points and can use these points to customize the perfect player in their minds. This includes customizing the player's name, attributes, characteristics, hero pool, illustrations, and more, all using points! Coaches no longer have to struggle with random initial rolls!





Next up is the issue that many people are concerned about: Events.


Our event production is currently progressing smoothly. This includes exclusive events for each player based on their characteristics, as well as events triggered by sponsors and other related systems, which are nearing completion. These events will occur during breaks in the matches, allowing coaches to have some buffer and rest after intense battles.





And now, the most important part! The question that everyone has been asking about: the total number of heroes.


Now, I can directly reveal to everyone! When "Esports Godfather" is released, the game will provide 54 fully developed heroes for everyone to use! These heroes each have their own characteristics, and I believe they will bring a more diverse and enriching gaming experience to everyone. Quickly expand the hero pool for your players and let them ride into the arena with the new lineups developed by the coaches!

I wonder how everyone has been enjoying our latest trial version during this period? Are you satisfied with the content of the postseason?


This limited-time test will end at 11:00 PM Beijing time on April 3, 2024. That means we expect to conclude this limited-time test tonight at 11:00 PM. Thank you all for your active participation!


During this week-long test, we've received a lot of feedback from everyone as well as some bug submissions.


At the same time, I've also received a lot of feedback regarding the text, including issues such as comments during MVP selection sometimes not matching the actual game situation and too few daily events for clubs.


Please rest assured, we have adjusted the filtering mechanism for MVP comments to strive to make the comments after each game as close to everyone's real game situation as possible. At the same time, I have been working hard to write and produce events, currently at a rate of 8-10 events per day. According to our expectations, there will be corresponding independent events during different periods of the game. This includes independent derivative events for each player, regular daily events for clubs, etc., all of which are currently in the writing and production stage.


For example, we will design a special event for each player based on their development characteristics, and trigger sponsor events after achieving certain hidden conditions during the regular season. In addition to these independent events, we have also produced a large number of club daily events to meet everyone's need for buffering and rest during the game intervals. In these events, depending on the coach's different choices, it is possible to receive different rewards such as club points and player ability experience points. Of course, there will also be some purely fun events. I will try my best to make these events more interesting, rather than simply increasing the mouse wear of the coaches, hoping not to embarrass the coaches when the time comes.

Finally, this limited-time test is the final test. Before the official release of the game on May 24th, we will not conduct any public tests. At the same time, our studio will also enter the final closed development stage of "Esports Godfather". Hello, long time no see! I'm 1000wateri, the producer of "Esports Godfather," and I'm delighted to be reunited with everyone here.


I believe many of our gamer friends have noticed that since the day before yesterday, we have gradually updated "Esports Godfather: origin." Yes, we uploaded an unstable version in advance. But now, we have done our best to make the version more stable. Although there may still be some bugs, we believe this version can make everyone happy, and we hope you will enjoy it.


Since the last version update about a month ago, we have added many new elements, including development features, playoffs, sponsors, and more. For specific details, you can directly enter the game to check. Compared to the official Grade league 2, the current version may lack some settings and specific features, but the functionality is basically complete. If you encounter any discomfort or issues in the game, feel free to communicate with us anytime on Discord or X. Of course, if you find the game fun, we also hope to receive some praise. Our team has been working hard in closed development recently. It would be a great encouragement for us to hear that you like "Esports Godfather."


I know many gamers are very concerned about our development progress, so I want to take this opportunity to share with everyone our development plans and situation for the next two months. Currently, "Esports Godfather" is about 90% complete.


In terms of league procedures, only the interview process (not yet disclosed), transfer period (including player market, rookie draft, youth training camp), and some scattered interfaces (such as the preview of each game in the playoffs) are still unfinished.


Then, the freely customizable player interface [where you can freely define player characteristics, appearances, etc.] we have actually completed, but due to procedural issues, we are temporarily unable to implement it into the current version. If implemented, it may take additional time and manpower, which is indeed challenging for our currently tight development schedule. We hope this won't cause too much trouble for everyone.


We are working on custom options for starting a new game, where basic settings such as game difficulty, format of regular season matches (bo1 or bo3), etc., can be modified by players themselves. In addition, some gameplay-related custom options, such as whether the opponent club will grow, whether the resource group can be abandoned, etc., have also been included in the development schedule.


We expect to complete these tasks around April 20th. In terms of specific designs, such as the training content of daily training, more medals, title systems, etc., we will also fill in during this time. At the same time, the second round of balance adjustments will also take place during this period.
