Remnant 2 is, in many ways, exactly what I wanted from a sequel to Gunfire Games's fantastic co-op game. The world and art design is gorgeous, the shooting feels sublime, and there's all manner of builds to craft with all the Remnant 2 Traits, Relics, and Mods on offer. I'm just a few hours in, but I can already see myself playing Remnant 2 for hundreds of hours as I did with the first. Fortunately, the team is already addressing concerns about its endgame grind, and whether certain restrictions might discourage long-term play.

It appears that Remnant 2 is yet another PC port to release this year with subpar optimization, with budget and flagship graphics cards alike pushing out surprisingly low frame rates. Even the mighty Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 appears to struggle running Remnant 2 well, for no readily apparent reason.

While Remnant 2 looks to be a fun but challenging time for those looking for a Soulslike co-op game, but the optimization and performance of the game is unfortunately causing concern among its early access player base. In response, developer Gunfire Games has offered some troubleshooting advice, highlighting that upscaling technologies in Remnant 2 like Nvidia DLSS are more or less integral to achieving the best performance.
