Borderlands 4 Update Notes - September 18, 2025

[p][/p][p]This update improves stability on PC, smooths out progression, and updates the Gilded Glory Pack loot and rewards for a more seamless experience. Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine is also on the move! [/p][p][/p][h3]Weekly Big Encore Boss [/h3][p]The Weekly Big Encore Boss is a tougher variant of an existing boss with an even more rewarding loot pool. [/p][p][/p][h3]Weekly Wildcard Missions [/h3][p]Weekly Wildcard Missions add challenging new traits to an existing mission. These missions feature a guaranteed Legendary drop that you can repeatedly earn to get your ideal roll. [/p][p][/p][h3]Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine [/h3][p]Go in search of where the Black Market Vending Machine has moved to and discover what’s available in your game every week. Remember, while the location is the same, your vending machine items are different from other players, so ask around to see if someone has the item you’re looking for! I tested Borderlands 4 on an RTX 4070, and sorry Randy, but it runs really badly

While it's now far from uncommon for a game to struggle with performance issues at launch, Borderlands 4 finds itself in a unique position. This is because, rather than developer Gearbox committing to just fixing the reported issues, its CEO, Randy Pitchford, is busy making bold claims about gamers and PC hardware on social media, while also using customer service data to deny that the issue is widespread.

Well, I finally had the chance to give Borderlands 4 a go on PC using our RTX 4070 testing rig, which we use to benchmark all the latest releases, and my experience was far from positive. Taking Randy's claims about gamers expecting to run super high graphics on low-spec PCs into consideration, I only ran the game on the medium graphics preset, while presenting my data and general experience. Our rig may not use the best graphics card or CPU, but it's still a very capable gaming PC, often running the latest releases at the high preset with decent frame rates at 1080p and 1440p.

It's not surprising that Borderlands 4 is absolutely stuffed with loot, but trying to sift through it can quickly become an ordeal, especially when you start farming bosses and spilling dozens of glimmering beams across the floor.
