Best Borderlands 4 settings for optimized PC performance

Finding the best Borderlands 4 settings for PC is a tricky job right now, as the game is in an ongoing battle with performance issues across all platforms. You may well be struggling to achieve a stable frame rate even if you have the best graphics card from our buying guide installed in your gaming PC.

The Borderlands 4 system requirements aren't unreasonably high, but players with gaming PCs of all levels are struggling to get good performance in Gearbox's latest looter shooter. That includes us, as during our first Borderlands 4 test, we found that our rig performed poorly, failing to hit an average of 60fps with 45fps 1% lows at 1080p or 1440p when using the medium graphics preset and DLSS upscaling. However, a new Borderlands 4 update has been deployed, and while it doesn't bring a magic fix for performance, there are some minor improvements that are a step in the right direction.

You’ll get to learn about folks from both Gearbox and 2K, and how each person who touches the game both influences and is influenced by Borderlands 4. This week, we're talking with Allison Mann, 2K’s Senior Manager for Game Capture:[/p][p][/p][p]What’s your philosophy when it comes to showing gameplay in the best light?[/p][p]Gameplay capture is all about making the game look the most fun it can possibly be. My biggest philosophy when capturing is to make the game look how you feel when you're playing it for yourself. This means heightening cinematic moments, creating smooth transitions from one action to the next, while also staying authentic to the game's tone and gameplay loop. It's like the ultimate gamer wish fulfillment![/p][p][/p][p]How do you handle situations where what looks fun to play isn’t always easy to show on camera?[/p][p]This is one of the trickiest challenges with game capture, and we employ a couple of tools to get around obstacles like these. Lighting a scene, adjusting the camera angle, changing an enemy type, or using a different location all contribute to getting a great shot. We try to keep every moment fun while also communicating what we want to show the player. Say we need to capture a unique weapon that feels fun to play - showing a detailed close-up of the weapon and then cutting to a high-energy combat gameplay shot keeps the action flowing and emphasizes the fun, while also communicating the features of the weapon to the player without compromising any visuals.[/p][p][/p][p]What advice would you give to someone who is interested in working in game capture?[/p][p]Play lots of video games! Seriously, being a gamer is probably the biggest requirement for getting into game capture. Understanding how to play video games, what good gameplay should look like, and understanding what players expect in games are all essential to marketing them. This is one of those few jobs in game marketing where you are expected to play the game every day! ;) Additionally, having an educational background in visual art, film/TV, or game development will definitely set you ahead. At the end of the day, everyone in game capture is a gamer at heart. We love playing video games, and we love making them look cool as hell.[/p][p]
[/p]
Community Creative Corner
[p]Our community members aren’t just gamers—many of you are also artists. Whether it’s cosplay, digital art, or some yet-to-be-invented medium, we’re your biggest fans. Check out this week’s hand-picked fan creations:[/p][p]- lalinoire[/p][p][/p][p]- vishantiescape[/p][p][/p][p]- sufroyo[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That’s it for this week—with more updates, more chaos, and maybe a few surprises coming next Friday. Until then: keep your ECHOnet tuned and your loot luck high.[/p][p]Happy Hunting,
The Borderlands Team[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p]

Borderlands 4 gets a new PC patch to fix crashes, progression blockers and GPU-related problems

Gearbox have released another Borderlands 4 update for technical problems on PC, with a particular focus on game stability and crashes, though they've also fixed a progression blocker or two in the process. Unlike that other Borderlands 4 patch from earlier this week, this one has an actual changelog. Gosh, wait till Mark hears of this! Oh nuts, he's already gone on holiday, presumably in sheer consternation over the shortage of bullet points. Look what you did, Randy Pitchford. Look what you did.
