New Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Content details from PAX Australia

[p][/p][p]During our panel at PAX Australia, we shared new details about upcoming content from Borderlands 4's Post-Launch Roadmap! We've put together this overview of what to expect from all this incoming paid and free content:[/p]
  • [p]Paid DLC of Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day* (Nov 20)[/p]
  • [p]Free limited-time Seasonal Mini-Event: Horrors of Kairos (Oct 23 - Nov 6)[/p]
  • [p]Free Invincible Boss and additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level (December)[/p]
[p]Before we get into the nitty-gritty details, we want to say another heartfelt 'thank you' to the millions of players who have been enjoying Borderlands 4 thus far. Our journey alongside all you badass Vault Hunters is just getting started, and we've got tons of awesome paid and free content coming your way, along with more performance improvements on all platforms. With that, let's take a look at what's on the horizon for the denizens of Kairos![/p][p][/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day*
[p]On November 20, 2025, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day will get you into the holiday spirit as Borderlands 4's first Bounty Pack! As a quick refresher, Bounty Packs are paid DLC that bring new bite-sized-yet-flavorful narrative content to Kairos, along with new gear to earn and cosmetics to collect—plus a Vault Card that lets you unlock additional loot through gameplay. How Rush Saved Mercenary Day is the first of four Bounty Packs included in the Bounty Pack Bundle. The Bounty Pack Bundle comes with the Deluxe Edition and Super Deluxe Edition of Borderlands 4 and is available for separate purchase.[/p][p][/p][p]Rush, the affable leader of the Outbounders, is feeling homesick and nostalgic for the holidays he's cherished in years past. By his calculations, it's about to be Mercenary Day, a jolly time for gift-giving and gunslinging with friends and family, and he'd like to bring that same festive cheer to the people of Kairos. But his hopes for holiday merriment stand in direct opposition to Screw, the Timekeeper's Minister of Culture who's charged with keeping celebrations as bland and homogenous as possible. Across a series of all-new Main Missions, you'll show Screw the true meaning of Mercenary Day by any means necessary, and maybe score some new Legendary loot in the process.[/p][p][/p][p]Bounty Pack 1 also includes a Vault Card with new rewards that you'll earn through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items to unlock and 4 pieces of rerollable gear on offer. The rerollable gear can be earned as many times as you like, so you can snag a roll with stats that perfectly suit your build! Here's the full breakdown of the Bounty Pack 1 Vault Card loot:[/p][p]
[/p]
  • [p]4 rerollable weapons [/p]
  • [p]4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe[/p]
  • [p]4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe[/p]
  • [p]5 Weapon Skins[/p]
  • [p]5 Vehicle Skins[/p]
  • [p]4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins[/p]
  • [p]2 ECHO-4 Attachments[/p]
[p][/p][p]Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards here). Once you own a Bounty Pack and its respective Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP![/p][p][/p][p]In addition, Bounty Pack 1 features a few extra goodies to find:[/p]
  • [p]1 New Digirunner Vehicle (available shortly after starting the first Main Mission)[/p]
  • [p]1 Vault Hunter Skin usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe (available after beating the boss and completing the Bounty Pack's final Main Mission)[/p]
  • [p]1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin (available after beating the boss and completing the Bounty Pack's final Main Mission)[/p]
[p][/p][p]To ensure that you jump into Bounty Pack 1 right when it launches on November 20, here's a breakdown of the different ways to acquire this paid DLC:[/p]
  • [p]If you don't own Borderlands 4: Purchase Borderlands 4 Deluxe or Super Deluxe Edition (both include the Bounty Pack Bundle)[/p]
  • [p]If you already own Borderlands 4: [/p]
    • [p]Option 1: Purchase the Bounty Pack Bundle that includes Bounty Pack 1[/p]
    • [p]Option 2: Purchase Bounty Pack 1 individually[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p]
Free Seasonal Mini-Event: Horrors of Kairos
[p]Just in time for spooky season, Borderlands 4's first free, limited-time Seasonal Mini-Event, Horrors of Kairos, will scare all players senseless from October 23 to November 6. During the event, world boss encounters change the weather to a terror-inducing blood rain, with new Legendary loot you have a chance to get from world boss kill rewards:[/p]
  • [p]"Murmur" Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: Executes weakened enemies with guaranteed crits on targets under 35% health[/p]
  • [p]"Skully" Legendary Order Grenade: This death-dealing grenade fires out projectiles as it seeks out the nearest target[/p]
[p][/p][p]In addition, we'll be serving up some SHiFT code treats during the event: a "Gourd Your Loins" Vault Hunter (pumpkin) Head usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe, and a "Hex Appeal" Weapon Skin that can be equipped to any weapon. Keep an eye on the Borderlands social channels to ensure you don't miss these SHiFT codes before they're gone![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Free Endgame Updates: Bloomreaper the Invincible and a new UVHM level
[p]If you think your Vault Hunter's build and loadout is strong enough to take down any opponent, you'll soon have a deadly new challenge to conquer: Bloomreaper the Invincible, the first of the endgame Invincible Bosses coming to Borderlands 4 as free updates for all players. The "Invincible" moniker is a throwback to the raid bosses of previous Borderlands games, so these aren't literally unkillable enemies—but you'll have to contend with their massive health pools, extremely lethal attack damage, and new modifiers that can seriously shorten your life expectancy. [/p][p][/p][p]Making it to the new arena that this raid boss calls home is one thing; taking Bloomreaper down is another matter entirely. Should you somehow manage to prevail, you'll have the chance at all-new Legendary loot as proof of your hard-fought victory. Bloomreaper the Invincible is coming to Borderlands 4 as part of a free update in December 2025, which will also add a new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level for an added layer of difficulty. You can learn more about Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode in our Borderlands 4 endgame overview.[/p][p][/p]
Still much more to come
[p]As you can see from our Post-Launch Roadmap, these updates take us to the end of 2025, but there's lots more paid and free content to come in 2026! If case you missed it, we also recently shared a teaser for C4SH, the first of two new Vault Hunters coming to Borderlands 4 as part of the paid Story Pack** DLCs. [/p][p][/p][p]We're continuing to push out weekly Update Notes improving the game, with improving performance for PC players as one of our top priorities. If you're encountering any issues, please contact 2K Support for direct assistance. You can also read the PC Troubleshooting Guide, a list of known issues, or browse a list of Support threads here.[/p][p][/p][p]*How Rush Saved Mercenary Day is the first of four post-launch DLC Bounty Packs coming to Borderlands 4. This content is included with Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition, Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition, the Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack Bundle, and will be available for separate purchase. Base game required to play content.[/p][p][/p][p]**Story Packs are paid post-launch DLC that are included with the Borderlands 4 Vault Hunter Pack, and included in Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition. They will also be available for separate purchase (base game required). Exact release timings of each Story Pack to be announced at a later date and will be subject to change. Terms apply.[/p][p]

You’ll get to learn about folks from both Gearbox and 2K, and how each person who touches the game both influences and is influenced by Borderlands 4. This week, we're talking with Brooke Smith, Gearbox’s Producer:[/p][p]What’s something fans might not realize about what producers contribute towards the development of a game?[/p][p]Brooke: This is tough, because producers often wear so many different hats![/p][p]There's a stereotype that producers only care about the schedule and that we exclusively live in spreadsheets. While we definitely do care about the schedule and utilize spreadsheets, we also contribute creatively! For me, working with Systems designers, that meant helping designers brainstorm ideas, joining in on playtests, and helping come up with creative solutions to any problems that came up in development.[/p][p]How do you help ensure that creative and technical teams stay aligned?[/p][p]Brooke: With a game as big as Borderlands 4, it was important for our creative and technical folks to sync on a regular basis. My goal is always to make sure developers are comfortable communicating directly with one another, even if they are in totally different disciplines. [/p][p]I'll also always encourage cross-disciplinary playtesting, even in the early stages of development. Seeing a feature or mechanic in action and experiencing it as a team helps get everyone on the same page and helps get them excited about whatever we're working on. We're also all gamers, so we can all give each other feedback and exchange ideas, even if we're not subject-matter experts.[/p][p]What inspired you to pursue production in the games industry?[/p][p]Brooke: Games were always a huge part of my life. I picked up my first controller when I was 4 years old, and continued to game throughout my childhood and teenage years. I always loved that games were a way to connect with my family and friends and wanted to be able to create that space for other people![/p][p]Like a lot of producers, I sort of stumbled into production by accident. In college, I majored in Computer Science, thinking I would become a gameplay programmer. It wasn't until I took on a producer-like role on my senior project that I discovered I much preferred working with people, over programming. My role on that project mostly included facilitating communication with students and faculty in other departments and helping set deadlines and goals for my teammates. While I didn't have any formal training in production at that point, I loved that I got to learn about how some of our partnering departments worked, and how to best help my team work with them.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Community Creative Corner
[p]Our community members aren’t just gamers—many of you are also artists. Whether it’s cosplay, digital art, or some yet-to-be-invented medium, we’re your biggest fans. Check out this week’s hand-picked fan creations:[/p][p]- kristinami_a[/p][p][/p][p]- vishantiescape[/p][p][/p][p]- starz0rstuff[/p][p][/p][p]That’s it for this week—with more updates, more chaos, and maybe a few surprises coming next Friday. Until then: keep your ECHOnet tuned and your loot luck high.[/p][p]Happy Hunting,
The Borderlands Team[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p]

Vex Community Challenge: Death 4 All

[p]Borderlands 4 players collectively crushed our previous Community Challenges, unlocking SHiFT codes for the "Savings Savior" Vault Hunter Skin usable by Rafa and the "Cult Classic" Vault Hunter Skin usable by Amon. This weekend is the time for Vex the Siren players to shine, using her supernatural powers to wipe out hordes of enemies at Ripper Drill Sites.[/p][p][/p][p]Given that many of our US-based Vault Hunters will be enjoying a long weekend, we're giving everyone an extra day to complete this challenge. If these Community Challenge conditions are successfully met, we'll share out a SHiFT code for the reward* that'll be redeemable by all:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
COMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Death 4 All
[p]From October 10-13, collectively complete 1,800,000 Ripper Drill Sites as Vex to earn:[/p]

Once you've located one of these Ripper-filled arenas (or restarted one using Moxxi's Big Encore machine), you'll have to survive multiple waves of deadly enemies before facing off against a climactic boss fight. Fortunately, Vex is no stranger to fending off deranged mobs, as seen during the unbridled mayhem of the Mercenary Sale in Vex's Character Short "Purple Friday":[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
Harlowe players can look forward to the finale in this series of Community Challenges next week! Borderlands 4 director warns next patch will target overpowered builds relying on "unintended interactions"

This week's Borderlands 4 patch has arrived, firing some gear balancing tweaks into the looter shooter's innards, then probably dropping a cringey catchphrase. Developers Gearbox have also revealed some of what's in store for the larger patch that's set to arrive next week, with performance fixes back on the menu alongside some more in-depth balancing that'll touch "those unintended interactions" folks have been relying on for overpowered builds.

It's all in the line with the nice rhythm the studio have settled into following an initial flurry of activity in response to the game running not goodly on PC out of the gate. Last week brought a big patch featuring the first round of vault hunter balancing tweaks, so this week sees a chaser precede the next shot.
