Galactic Season 9 “Flashpoint Resurgence”

[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Galactic Seasons 9 “Flashpoint Resurgence” will begin with the launch of Game Update 7.7.1 on August 19th! Once the update goes live, players will be able to make progress through the Free Reward track or the Subscriber Reward track (both tracks are available to Subscribers!) and earn new rewards. Below are the details of what players can expect from this new season![/p][p]Diving Back Into Flashpoints![/p][p]For the duration of Galactic Season 9 (GS9), players will be encouraged to jump back into Flashpoints to complete their weekly objectives.[/p][p]Kai Zykken returns with another offer to test a new version of the adrenal boost created by Czerka. The updated Experimental Combat Enhancers will provide even more special buffs upon use. You will receive the following buffs that will last for the duration of the Flashpoint:[/p]
  • [p]\[NEW] Experimental Repulsor Field -  Grants a temporary ability bar that allows you to lift an enemy and throw them into another[/p]
  • [p]\[NEW] Projectile Probes - Two probes will appear by your side and fire projectiles at your enemies[/p]
  • [p]Destruction Overload - Every 5th enemy that is defeated will explode causing a damaging AOE effect[/p]
  • [p]Czerka Combat Drones - Drones will assist you in taking your enemies down[/p]
  • [p]Unstable Radiation Field - A devastating point blank AOE will help you decimate your enemies[/p]
[p]These Experimental Combat Enhancers can be found on the Galactic Season reward track and in Ki’at Thavo’s inventory during the season. [/p][p]Updates to Activity Finder[/p][p]Players will also be encouraged to use Activity Finder to complete their weekly GS9 objectives. This window has been given a Quality of Life update and players will see the following updates to it: [/p]
  • [p]Players can choose all eligible roles in the Group tab [/p]
  • [p]Players can choose Roles from both Combat Styles[/p]
  • [p]When queue pops, players can see the Role they have been assigned[/p]
  • [p]Players can now change combat style while in queue![/p]
    • [p]Loadouts will need to be manually changed[/p]
[p]With GS9, there will be a new Flashpoint Resurgence queue added to Activity Finder. Every week, this queue will feature 1-2 Veteran Flashpoints that will match the weekly objectives that need to be completed in order to make progress on the reward track. Players will be able to jump into the GS9 queue and other normal queues as well. [/p][p]Another change that was made to Activity Finder is that players may see that some queues will have more activities selected than are required to complete for the Daily Reward Bonus and Weekly Mission Credit.  [/p][p]In the example below, you can see that there are 13/11 Story Mode Operations that have been selected. While 13 Operations are selected, you will only need to select 11 in order to receive credit. [/p][p]
[/p][p]In the example below, there are 24 out of 25 Veteran Flashpoints selected which then show that  you are not eligible for credit. You will need to select one more Flashpoint in order to receive rewards. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The final change that has been made to Activity Finder is that any group that uses this window to enter a Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoint will find that the cinematics are replaced with a fade to black screen. They will no longer need to use Spacebar to skip cinematics. As cinematics will be “skipped”, the Light and Dark side choices will be randomly selected and no points will be granted. [/p][p]If players would like to experience the cinematics in Veteran or Master modes, they can group up and walk through a phase gate of their desired Flashpoint.  [/p][p]Seasonal Rewards![/p][p]As with previous Seasons, there will be a Free and Subscriber track that players can earn rewards from as they complete objectives and progress through Galactic Seasons 9. Rewards for this season will feature items themed around the Disney+ series Andor™ season 2.  [/p][p]The following rewards will be available on the Free/Preferred reward track:  [/p]

Game Update 7.7.1 "Flashpoint Resurgence" Patch Notes
Highlights
[p]Galactic Season 9 “Flashpoint Resurgence” [/p][p]Kai Zykken returns with another offer to test a new version of the adrenal boost created by Czerka. The updated Experimental Combat Enhancers will provide even more special buffs upon use when in Flashpoints. Players will be able to make progress through the Free Reward track or the Subscriber Reward track (both tracks are available to Subscribers!) and earn new rewards. [/p][p]A new Galactic Season Flashpoint Resurgence queue has been added to Activity Finder. Every week that Galactic Season 9 is active, this special queue will have 1 or 2 Veteran Flashpoints that match the weekly objectives. [/p][p]Updates to Activity Finder[/p][p]Improvements to the UI and functionality of the Activity Finder Window have been made that focuses on more support for Combat Styles. Via a new Group Role dropdown, players will be able to choose all roles they are eligible for in the Group tab including the roles from both Combat Styles. Players can now adjust their Combat Styles while waiting for PVE group content. Once the queue pops, the updated Join Window will display the player’s current Combat Style selection and they will need to be sure to match what the Group Finder required role is prior to joining. For convenience, a quick link to Combat Styles and Loadouts has also been added. Players will need to be mindful of the Loadouts they are using and update as needed.[/p][p]Players can now earn the Daily Reward Bonus and Weekly Mission credits even if they do not select every piece of content in the filter.  In the Activity Finder UI players will see two numbers next to each other to explain this information as the following (total available pieces of content // minimum number selected to receive rewards).[/p][p]Flashpoint Cutscene Skip[/p][p]Players that enter a Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoint via Activity Finder will find that the cinematic scenes will now skip automatically. The cinematics will be replaced with a brief fade to black. In instances where players would typically make a Light or Dark side choice, a default choice will be made for players and Light/Dark points will not be granted. Should players want to experience the cinematics in a Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoint, they can manually walk into the phase.[/p][p]In addition, players who complete the below Flashpoints in Veteran Mode via Activity Finder will no longer need to return to the fleet to complete the access mission:[/p]
  • [p]Athiss[/p]
  • [p]Cademimu[/p]
  • [p]Hammer Station [/p]
  • [p]Mandalorian Raiders[/p]
[p]Improvements for F2P/Preferred players[/p][p]F2P/Preferred players will be able to: [/p]
  • [p]Gain access to companion customizations[/p]
  • [p]Gain access to use Legacy Titles[/p]
  • [p]Earn Rest XP[/p]
  • [p]Gain the first Cargo Bay for free[/p]
  • [p]Use the Hide Head slot[/p]
  • [p]Withdraw more credits from Escrow when using Cartel Coins[/p]
[p]Additionally, all account types will have access to all quickbars. [/p][p]Artifact Authorization[/p][p]Any piece of gear under level 80 will not require Artifact Authorization. [/p][p]Level 80 Artifact (purple) or Legendary (gold) gear that will require Artifact Authorization are: [/p]
  • [p]All 7.0 purple gear[/p]
  • [p]Legendary Implants[/p]
  • [p]Hyde and Zeek’s purple enhancements[/p]
  • [p]Grade 10/11 Reusable Medpacs, Stims, and Adrenals[/p]

We will not be removing coins that have already been granted. To add a Security Key to your SWTOR account, go to your account page on our website. All commonly used authenticators are accepted.[/p][p]Cartel Market Offerings[/p][p]Alongside the Imperial Scout Mount, the Brushback hairstyle customization, Nightfall Operative Glasses head accessory, and Prototype Test Pilot armor set inspired by the Disney+ series Andor™ are coming to the Cartel Market. [/p][p]Character Select Modernization [/p][p]The character select screen has received improved lighting and a new Depth of Field update that keeps the focus on the player character. Note that these visual updates only apply to the character select screen and not the entirety of the player’s ship. [/p][p]Character Modernization [/p][p]The face definition and texture smoothing that was implemented in Game Update 7.7 has been added to Rattataki. We are also fixing the Dark Side corruption issues some players saw with skin colors turning overly pale. [/p][p]We have unlocked hundreds of hair and montral color options to character customization for Cathar, Chiss, Cyborg, Human, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta, and both Imperial and Republic Zabraks. Additionally, more skin colors have been unlocked for Mirialans and Imperial Zabraks. [/p][p]Combat Changes[/p][p]We are continuing with our audit of the default granted abilities and will focus on Mercenary/Commando, Operative/Scoundrel, and Sorcerer/Sage in 7.7.1. New Star Wars The Old Republic update expands the MMORPG's free-to-play features

What is it about the Old Republic that makes Star Wars fans all misty eyed? You'd think that the prequel trilogy did enough damage for us not to want more stories from before Luke Skywalker was born. Alas, we're gluttons for punishment and lap up every expanded-universe novel, game, and anything else we can get our hands on. The pinnacle, for me at least, is BioWare's series of RPGs. While many players will fondly remember Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic in its own right, held back only by its monetisation.

System QoL Updates

Activity Finder

Improvements to the UI and functionality of the Activity Finder Window have been made that focuses on more support for Combat Styles. Via a new Group Role dropdown, players will be able to choose all roles they are eligible for in the Group tab including the roles from both Combat Styles. They will be able to change their Combat Style while in queue and when a queue pops, players will be able to see the role they have been assigned. Players will need to be cognizant of the Loadouts they are using and update as needed.

In addition to the above updates, a new Galactic Season Flashpoint Resurgence queue will be added to the window. Every week that Galactic Season 9 is active, this special queue will have 1 or 2 Veteran Flashpoints that match the weekly objectives. Players can also join normal queues if they want.

Players can earn the Daily Reward Bonus and Weekly Mission credits even if they do not select every piece of content in the filter. In the Activity Finder UI, players will see two numbers next to each other to explain this information as the following (total available pieces of content // minimum number selected to receive rewards).

Flashpoint Cutscene Skip

Players that enter most Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoint via Activity Finder will no longer need to spacebar through cinematic scenes. The cinematics will be replaced with a brief fade to black. In instances where players would typically make a Light or Dark side choice, a default choice will be made for players and Light/Dark points will not be granted. Should players want to experience the cinematics in a Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoint, they can manually walk into the phase.

As a general note, loot from Flashpoint boss drops have been improved for players under level 75.

Combat Updates

We are continuing with our audit of the default granted abilities and will be focusing on Mercenary/Commando, Operative/Scoundrel, and Sorcerer/Sage. There will also be a handful of other balance updates in 7.7.1. Examples are:

  • Assassin/Shadow - Level 73 ability tree option Avoidance/Celerity now reduces the cooldown of Force Speed by 7s.
  • Operative/Scoundrel - Level 60 ability Exfiltrate/Scamper cooldown changed from 8s to 7s.

A full list will be posted in the 7.7.1 patch notes as we get closer to launch.

Players who have a Security Key tied to their account will only receive their Cartel Coin grants if they were active in the last 29 days. We will not be removing coins that have already been granted.

Character Selection Modernization

Our modernization efforts continue across the game. The character select screen has received improved lighting and a new Depth of Field update that keeps the focus on the player character.

Character Modernization Updates

We are now moving on to modernizing other species. The face definition and texture smoothing that was implemented in Game Update 7.7 has been added to Rattataki. We are also fixing the Dark Side corruption issues some players saw with skin colors turning overly pale.

(Example of face definition and texture smoothing for Rattataki)

Additionally, we unlocked hundreds of hair and montral color options to character customization for Cathar, Chiss, Cyborg, Human, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta, and both Imperial and Republic Zabraks.

Updates on DirectX 12

The team now has a functioning version of the game on DX12! Our next steps are to upgrade UI technology and implement baseline shader. We intend on working toward releasing a Technical Alpha on the Public Test Server in the not too distant future. We will communicate further details on the timeline of this test when the team makes further progress. We are very excited for this upgrade to come to SWTOR!

Game Update 7.7.1 “Flashpoint Resurgence” will be coming late August 2025!
