PowerWash Simulator is coming to PlayStation and Switch, with free Tomb Raider DLC

PowerWash Simulator is exactly as it sounds, having you deep-clean vehicles and homes in a satisfying bid to be the best PowerWasher there ever was. It’s certainly a niche title, but it’s one of the higher quality simulation games out there, and is surprisingly relaxing. No wonder it's deemed to be a great podcast game.

Publisher, Square Enix, has announced that PowerWash Simulator will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on January 31. So, even more people can jump in and see what power-washing is actually all about, and why the community enjoys it so much.

What about cross-play and these new platforms? Well, the good news is that players on Windows, Steam, and Xbox can all play across platforms with each other. Unfortunately, though, players on PlayStation and Switch will not be able to cross-play with other platforms.

There's new PowerWash Simulator DLC coming for free at the end of January, adding five new levels in a mini-campaign based on the Lara Croft action-adventure games from Square Enix, who publishes PowerWash Simulator alongside games including Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The free update will feature you cleaning up the iconic Croft Manor and all its associated assault courses and vehicles.

Is the Tomb Raider Special Pack Free?

It will be available to all owners of PowerWash Simulator without purchase.

What time does the update release?

9AM PST / 12PM EST / 5PM GMT

How will I get the Tomb Raider Special Pack?

You can access it in-game when it is live in the new Specials section of the main menu. It should be automatically activated; if not, it will link you to the store page to do so manually.

Will there be other changes and tweaks?

Yes, we'll release a more detailed list at launch.

Where is the Research Edition Rewards

We plan on releasing them with this new patch.

How will multiplayer work with new platforms?

PWS also launches on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4/5 on January 31st. There is no crossplay with these new platforms. However, crossplay between Xbox, Windows PC, and Steam players will still be available.

Are there new achievements?

Unfortunately, there will not be new achievements with this content pack.

How long will it take me?

Our QA estimate between 10-15 hours for most players solo.

Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 raised more than $2.6 million for charity

Wintry speedrunning festival Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 finished yesterday, with runners managing to land $2,642,493 (£2,162,774) of donations in aid of Prevent Cancer. GDQ announced the $2.6 million figure on Twitter after the event concluded, and thanked all the runners and those who’d donated.

A number of speedruns throughout the week-long event smashed world records for their respective games and categories too, including PC runs of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and my own personal GOTY from 2022, PowerWash Simulator. You can watch the AGDQ 2023’s record-setting No Soap PowerWash Simulator run below, and weep into your coffee at the sheer cleaning ability on display.

The founder of speedrunning institution Games Done Quick is heading off to find new horizons following more than a decade of helping organise epic runs for charity. GDQ announced that Mike Uyama will leave the organisation when Awesome Games Done Quick 2023, which began on January 8th, concludes. Uyama’s replacement as owner and managing director of GDQ is Matt Merkle, the organisation’s current director of operations.
