Night and Day News

We are in the betatesting phase!

Exciting news! Two weeks ago, the beta build of Night and Day was sent to the betatesters, so I'm currently fixing small bugs and adding suggested features, in addition to editing the script.

The game will be released as soon as we've got enough feedback and the testers give us the go!

Meanwhile, you may have seen the banner on top of our game page: yes, we are taking part in the Gayming LIVE Festival! Check out all the incredible games included here: http://bit.ly/GaymingLIVEIndies There are sales, livestreams, and getting to know many upcoming games!

Update about the current state of the game

Hello, and first of all: Merry Christmas from Ertal Games, for the ones of you who celebrate it!

Let me apologize for the lack of updates of these last months, but now that I've returned to my full-time job, juggling it with family obligations and game developing has proven more testing than I expected. But fear not, the game is steadily worked on, and not dropped at all! I've seen some BL games on Kickstarter going on radio silence lately, but this won't be the case of Night and Day: trust me when I tell you that, when you don't get updates, it's just because I have no energies left after work and coding, but not because we aren't making progress.

About the current state of the game: the art is 100% done, including the mini-game art assets, and all the love interests scenes are also written. What is delaying the production is coding everything together without major bugs: the structure my programmer did for the game ended up being too restrictive for what I wanted in the VN, so very little of it is actually used, so I had to wing it, with the help of the programmer when I get stuck at something.

These latest weeks I've been coding the date scenes, which I think it's a cute addition to the storyline.

See you in the next update! I'll try to make it sooner this time, I promise!

We have a brand new opening video!

The game has been almost finished for a while, but I'm having some issues with the coding that are currently being worked on. The only art left for Night and Day is all small art assets for the minigames and shadows for the background characters, all of them already commissioned and in the works. And the main script is done, just waiting until the code is fixed and the scenes can be inserted in their place.

The backers who opted for an early access tier will get next week a build of the first four weeks of the game, until the moment you are locked into one of the love interest's routes (which is the code I'll finish fixing within this weekend).

But, for now, let me share with you all the opening video! Original song by Fricochet, featuring MyëVe.

Release Delay

Sorry, guys, but the release has been postponed.

The art for the game is 100% finished, the script is 90% done, but the coding is taking more time (and energies) than planned. I can't state a date yet, but please be assured I'm working on Night and Day as hard as I can.

Smol Side Project for Yaoi Jam

Hiya! I know many of you are looking forward to Night and Day's final release... Unfortunately, I'm still in coding hell, and I'll need some weeks more to sort everything out. I prefer not to give a date until I've made sure that everything works as it should, the script is thoroughly edited, and the game has been beta-tested, but I can assure you everyone involved is doing their best.

In August, I took a week off (for my brain's sanity, as the hours of coding variables was driving me insane) to work on a side project: every year, I try to take part in the Yaoi Game Jam, usually making a demo for a future project. This year, since I'm knees deep in Night and Day and the next project is already waiting (Deep in the Forest), I opted for transforming an old pirates AU fanfiction of mine into an original Visual Novel. Hence, I only had to translate the text into English, make a few changes, and voilá! Jolly Roger is served!

The artist for this project is Aielia Poot, who also made a bunch of cutscenes illustrations for Night and Day and is now eager to work on more BL games.

I'll consider bringing Jolly Roger to Steam in the future, but for the moment you can find it on itchio, for free, as all my other jam or short projects. Enjoy!
