This Week in Civ: Update Check-In, Shawnee Partnership, and More

Hey, Civ fans! In case you missed it, here’s another roundup of Civilization VII news from the past week:
Update 1.1.0 is on the way!
Next week, we plan on sharing timing and details on Update 1.1.0. This update will bring a number of UI improvements, AI tweaks, and more, including a round of fixes for console as we plan to bring them back in line with PC and re-enable cross-play multiplayer. Our first three PC patches were done rapidly to tackle some of the most immediate fixes, and now we're scoping out several larger feature requests for the future to improve the game in many of the areas the community has shared feedback on. Check back with us next week for more details on what that development roadmap entails!
Partnering with the Shawnee Tribe
We were honored to partner with the Shawnee Tribe to bring Tecumseh and the Shawnee civilization authentically to Civ VII! This close collaboration not only shaped in-game depictions, but also led to a real-world initiative between 2k Foundations and the Shawnee Tribe to preserve the Tribe’s native language. Check out this video highlighting the opening of the George “Fife” Blanchard Yaatakciitonooteeki (Recording Studio), and don’t miss the full story here.

Civilization 6 still has more daily Steam players than Civilization 7

The last two Civilization games are still very popular, which is a testament both to how good they are and to how good they are at becoming the default time-killing activity for those they get their hooks into. The just-released Civilization 7 also has some good qualities, but it looks like it'll need to evolve if it's going to attain the same legendary status, because its Steam player count isn't consistently surpassing those of its older siblings...

Civilization 7 crossplay was disabled by Firaxis, but you can still access it

Crossplay is a must-have for many online titles these days. The feature lets you play with your friends (or enemies, if you're that way inclined) no matter the platform they are on - after all, who can even afford to own more than one platform these days? The recently released Civilization 7 does have crossplay, but it's technically disabled on PC. Luckily, Firaxis has offered a workaround, meaning you can still play with console players, it'll just take a tiny bit of work to get things up running.

Best Civilization 7 settings for max fps

What are the best Civilization settings for PC? Unlike with previous Civ games, you can shell out a fair bit of cash to buy new components and theoretically improve your in-game turn speeds in Civ 7. It's by no means a requirement though, as even if you just about meet the minimum specs, you can expect a familiar Civ experience.

The Civilization 7 system requirements surprised everyone with demands for 20 and 16-core Intel and AMD CPUs. Thankfully, even if you fall well short of these specs, you can expect an enjoyable and well-paced experience in Civilization 7. You won't need the best graphics card either, and Civ 7 will even run well on devices like the Steam Deck, so unless you're running a GPU over ten years old, it shouldn't be an issue.
