New Civilization 7 leader is a nightmare if you want a Domination victory

The Domination victory in Civilization always makes me feel a bit guilty. I could be cultured, technological, or more peaceful and theocratic, but there's something irresistible about crushing all your enemies under the bootheels of your mighty army. Civ 7 changes the strategy game formula by adding new, organic eras, but you can bet that trebuchets, artillery units, and stealth bombers will still play a big part in your plans. The new Civilization 7 leader Trung Trac, however, who's just been detailed by Firaxis, might make winning by force a lot tougher.

"Bringing Your Civ World to Life" Developer Panel

In a recent Sid Meier's Civilization® VII panel from PAX Australia, developers from Firaxis including Andrew Frederiksen (Lead Producer), Ryan Andrade (Lead Concept Artist), John Fitzgerald (Lead Unit Artist), and Matthew Quickel (Senior Lead Environment Artist) discussed some of the concepts, inspiration, iteration, and creation that shaped the striking visual style of Civilization VII. After botching the Cree nation in Civ 6, Firaxis established a partnership with the Shawnee to ensure 'authentic, sincere' representation in Civilization 7




In 2018, Firaxis announced that the Cree Nation was being added to Civilization 6, a move that did not sit well with the leader of the real-world Poundmaker Cree Nation, who said the game's portrayal of Indigenous people is "very harmful." To help avoid that kind of misstep in the next game, the studio established a partnership with the Shawnee Nation to ensure a proper and accurate portrayal of its famous leader Tecumseh...
