New Dev Update!

Hi everyone! Here is Ova Magica's periodic development update for July-August. There have been quite a few things that have been worked on!

[h3]New Blob![/h3]



Here is a new Blob I added! The Squirrel Blob loves to eat nuts and feels most at home in the autumn season Ceres. I can't wait to see all the great blob combinations you will create by breeding it!

[h3]New Outfit and hair styles[/h3]

The character creation has been extended by a new outfit and some hairstyles. How do you like our new outfit "Farmer Dress"? Of course more are in the works but this is a preview of what to expect!

(Customization UI is still a quick prototype and not done yet. It will be reworked)



[h3]Romanceable Character Events[/h3]

Work is progressing mainly on the events of the characters. You'll get to know the daily lives of your favourite characters and more about them as you progress down their quest lines! Here are a few snippets of cheeky blobs!

Charoi's blob Oz loves to play pranks!



Saphir's Blob Chip loves fish!





Restaurant Activity

In the restaurant, you can go out to eat with your blobs!



If your friendship with a character is high enough, the friendship (and date) activities will also be unlocked, and you can then go eat together in the restaurant. Perhaps you should pay attention to what they seem to like to eat, or hints about it from their personality?

Camera mode preview and interiors!

Hello everyone! This is our periodic development update for Ova Magica where you'll learn about some of the recent features and progress being added to the game!

Do you remember one of the stretch goal features was the special photo mode? Recently I've been working on how this will work in-game! There will also be some funny moments and special objects like photo booths or cut-outs around Clover Town where you will be able to make special poses with your blobs and to capture these memories. There will also be several items in-game related to photography, so be sure to explore the world and market to make best use of this feature!

The other thing being worked on are the building interiors and NPC houses. Everybody needs somewhere to call a home, no matter if it's yourself or one of Ova Magica's lovable NPCs! Each house communicates the character and personality of the person who owns it. For example, Garnet and Saphir's beachside eatery is sea themed, whereas Lazuli's room is cute and full of soft things.

The soundtrack for the game is also being worked on and new music is arriving! Describing everything is one thing, but how about showing all of these things together? So that's why for this update we've compiled everything into a neat little video for you to watch. Check it out below!

Aquatic delights! Museum, fishing, and development updates

Hello everybody!

We are really happy to bring you a periodic development update for the game. Thanks to the success of fundraising efforts, development on Ova Magica is in full swing, with additional content being added that wasn't possible before! One of these is the Clover Town Museum.



[h3]Clover Museum Aquarium[/h3]



First up, we are building the aquarium exhibit within the museum. Say hello to the Octopus!



This exhibit will allow you to help Emerald and the custodian catalogue the various different creatures living in the rivers and canals around Clover Town. As you help donate more to the museum, you'll see the tanks gradually fill it up with the fish that you donate! Perhaps as you help to document certain rare creatures, there might even be a reward in it for you?



As you can see, the room itself is a bit basic currently as a blockout, but the design of the aquarium tank itself is done. We look forward to showing you the finished design when it's fully laid out and decorated!

[h3]Fishing mechanics[/h3]

Why work on the aquarium first? It goes hand in hand with the fishing mechanics, which are also being designed currently!



Fishing is of course, a key part of a farming game, and there's plenty of ways it's been done across all the farming games out there. In order to help with the development, you can give us your opinion!

  • In which games did you enjoy fishing (or not) and why? Any idea or inspiration for a fishing mini-game mechanic?
  • What would you like to be able to fish in Ova Magica? And how about wild blobs that bite from time to time?
  • What kinds of aquatic life would you like to see?

With a few days left on the Kickstarter, Ova Magica has been an incredible success

Making games is hard, marketing games and cutting through the noise is just as hard but for Claudia Gorsky they've managed both amazingly well with Ova Magica.
