New locations, arc balls, last hit effects

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing great!
It's been a month since last update of the demo version. Now I present several new things:

Choose from 3 locations.
Garage, factory and train station are one of multiple locations that will appear in final version of the game. I'm not 100% sure how many locations there will be on release (right now we are aiming for 10), it will depend on storyline and our spare time.

New ball type
Balls that are twice slower than normal balls and also have arc trajectory. I was planning to add them a long time ago and I'm still seeking ways to improve them, so your feedback will be appreciated.

Last hit now has true impact
Now tracks don't end abruptly. There is a slow-mo, special song and animation for it.

New UI
One of the hardest part for me is making UI and I think we've finally decided how it will look. I've added test version of it in gameplay part. I plan to re-make the whole menu in the next update.

What's next?
Besides UI part, I'm still on story mode right. I don't know how long it will take to make it. But I hope I'll have some news next month. Stay safe!

Kovox Pitch goes 3D (somewhat)

So, hello girls and boys! It's your regular show "Yet another visual update of Kovox Pitch".
In todays' episode we have:
  • Brand new background (again). But now it's fooly fully 3D with lights, post processing and stuff
  • Compact UI that is 100% better than the previous one, but still not perfect (I'll improve from time to time)
  • Ambeint sounds that are super quite but still you can feel them (if you don't, press Esc during the game and you'll hear 'em)
  • Many other tiny stuff that you won't notice

But the most exciting thing for me is that from now on I'm not working alone! Yea, of course I had some freelance artists before, but most of them were not interested in the game (excluding one person, hi CAMA). The second pilot is a great artist and even better 3D-stuff-doer. That's why we decided to make all backgrounds in 3D - not only it will give us so many possibilities, but it'll fulfill my desire to combine photos with 2D stuff. I know that 3D models are quite different from photos, but still it's a very great mix! I already have some rendering problems because of that mixture, but it's a great opportunity for me to learn something new.

I hope you guys like the new visuals! FYI, I'm working on more gameplay features and from this day I finally start to build a Story mode.

Demo Update v.0.1.3

Quick update.

  • Now all settings are being saved
  • You can no longer set the same keys for different actions

Demo Update v.0.1.2

List of improvements:

  • Settings tab in main menu is now divided in sections
  • Resolution and window mode options
  • Keybinding option
  • You can change lines with one button
  • Offset master is now saving audio/video offsets during game session

Resolution and keybinding options are being tested now and will be improved in the next patch (because now, for example, you can bind the same key for different commands).
Besides that, tutorial is not reading your custom keys and will always display Z/X buttons.

Next update will be on the next week and will 100% contain a simple saving system for your settings.

P.S.
Eyedol33, I didn't add toggle fullscreen option on F button, because now the game will start in borderless fullscreen, that should resolve your issue.
Drewchompski and skywing, I hope resolution dropdown will resolve your issue too.
plaguetonic themes, I still don't know what causes game to stutter on your PC, but I'll investigate further.

New Demo version

Hello everyone. In this blog post I want to showcase new features that I've added.
Last version of the demo was launched on 31.07.20 and after that I was working on Lofi Ping Pong Switch version. I finished it in the middle of December and after that I was 100% on Kovox Pitch.
So, in the last 6 weeks I added:

1. Gameplay features.
Red and blue balls like in classic taiko. You can hit Red balls only with Z (left) button and Blue balls only with X (right) button. White balls, which you can hit with both Z and X, are still in the game.
Now there is a second line for balls (rear moped). In the last demo I wanted more depth, tried to make it visually with parallax, but in the end it turned into this gameplay feature.

2. Graphics.
I decided not to use photos as backgrounds (it was a hard solution). For the last year I tried to make visuals using photos but I didn't succeed. We will draw all the backgrounds by hand, the video shows the first try.
The vespa has also been redrawn - adjusted to the perspective, and now it is full-size (people who have 21:9 monitors saw in the last demo that the moped was completed only to the middle).

3. Settings.
When choosing a track, it is possible to simplify the game - change the speed of the ball, remove colored balls, etc. Also I added a menu with basic settings such as volume and fullscreen. In addition, you can play with the camera parameters and set the cap for the FPS.

4. Calibration
A thing that many wrote about on Ping Pong (maybe I'll add it there later too). Now you can test and set offsets for audio and video. Dunno, whether it is working properly now, let's look at the tests from the players.

In addition, I fixed old bugs (and added new ones), plus I changed the tracks a little again, there are 5 of them, but slightly different than in the previous version.
