Enemy presentation: The Octodrone
Hello! I wanted to talk a bit about the enemies you will encounter in Diluvian Ultra.
If you tried out our demo, or any of the builds we put out over the years. You are familiar with our basic roster, with Marines, Drones and Elites.
These are the three basic enemy types that you will encounter frequently. Other enemies are often varieties of one of these three, like the Shotgun Marine, or the Light Drone. But, we are also working on bigger and more fearsome foes as well.
Like the Octodrone:

The Octodrone is a moving factory. A big, mean, robot that constructs gun turrets called Gorgons and deploy them to create walls of firepower. The Octodrone is tough and has the ability to repair other robot enemies and even itself when damaged. Although, it prefers to run away from the player should they approach. Away from the melee, the Octodrone can set up its web of turrets in peace.

Leave the Octodrone to its own devices too long and soon you will be fighting a seemingly immortal army of robot enemies, while Gorgons pepper you with fire from every angle.
Right now we are testing out the design, as QUANDINI, our programmer, has created an all new state machine for the AI to use for their behaviour. We hope to soon transition all old AI behaviour to this state machine, so we can more easily fine tune the behaviour of all enemies.
