Beta Update 2025/1/16

This is Beta version, we cannot guarantee compatibility of save data, etc.

before playing the beta version,

You can back up your saved data from above location.

If you agree to the above, right click on "Wizardry: The Five Ordeals" in the Steam library, select properties, and enter the password "IReadAnnounce" in the beta tab. The "publicbeta" version can be selected. This will automatically update the system, and you can also return to the current normal version by selecting no beta from the Beta tab. However, we will not be able to provide support for data corruption caused by version inconsistencies due to the use of this switch.

Updates
- High-resolution monster sprites are now built into the main game.
To switch, please select from the options screen. The current monster sprites DLC data and store page may be removed in the future.

- Changed the way textures in the game in general are compressed to optimize the game for the Nintendo Switch version.
Please note that the image quality is slightly degraded, especially in the monster sprites.

- Improved game behavior after repeated software resets.
- In the display of messages during battle, the timing when effects are applied to monster sprites has been changed from before the message waiting time to after the message is displayed.
- When using heal spells in the camp, the status of the character with debuff is now displayed instead of the maximum HP.
- Changed the initial cursor position when discarding items from the item box.
- Changed in-game Japanese font for HD UI.
- In the HD UI, when there is no corresponding portrait variation in the inn, the text is now centered.
- Fixed translation of some English messages.

Fixes
- The default scenario was not correctly set to “The Price of Deception”.
- Disabled some tag input for name input, etc.
about tags, absolutely no support will be given for this. We are not responsible for any related issues.

- When the auto-mapping view was disabled, the game would stop working if the destination setting for the “Teleportation” spell was set to an extreme floor.
- The spell “Turn Undead” and the spell like “Petrify” and “Instant Death” were always used against the first character of the party or first enemy in group during battle.
- The price of the item at the top of the list would change when performing certain operations when trading with NPCs.
- When more than 10 people were enshrined in a temple, it was not possible to switch to the acceptance of bodies page.
- The acquisition level of special abilities was not correct in the description of the lord when creating a character.
- The name of unclaimed items in the list was displayed when certain procedures were performed during transactions with NPCs.
- Some items were displayed incorrectly when performing a transaction of a specific category from an item box in a store.
- Portraits of lost items were not displayed correctly in the diary screen.
- In the SDUI, some spell descriptions were not displayed in the correct format.
- In the SD/3:2 UI, the display was incorrect when the total value of a specific ability value changed due to equipment exceeded 100.
- The update notification system was not working properly when the “GAME START” button was pressed.
Only user scenarios updated after 1/11/2025 will be supported.

- The description of another user scenario was sometimes overwritten after the user scenario was installed.
- In the scenario selector, the language setting was reverted to Japanese after updating a user scenario.
- In scenarios with spells that could only be used while camping, the game would stop working if you tried to cast the spell in battle if only you had learned it.
- In certain Riddle events, certain answers could always be answered was correct.
- When investigating an “Item Message” event, the event occurred regardless of the setting of the direction of investigation.
- When another event was placed at the destination of the event “Q Combat + Item Passage”, there was a combination of events that did not work as expected after “Q Combat + Item Passage”.
- Spell “Cure All” functioned as a full heal spell while camping sometimes, ignore the scenario's spell settings.
- Some files were not affected when updating or deleting user scenarios.
- When no encounter message was set for an NPC, the background music was lost until the timing for switching background music thereafter.
- The subtitle text on the title screen was always displayed in Japanese, regardless of the scenario settings.
- The teleport command in test mode could not jump to a specific floor.

Currently, the development team is working on the game itself, editor, and some ports in parallel. We would like to inform you of the current status of each of them.

There have been no major developments since the beta update. We do not plan to update the game until development of the version for other devices.

We have made some progress in optimizing the game for other devices, and are working on further updates to the game.
We are considering releasing a beta update for Steam once we have made some progress in the development of the other device versions.

The English version will be released in August. It is important to note that the editor itself is still in the beta stage, regardless of the language.

We are slowly making progress, but we need to work with outside partners on some development, so we will continue to take our time. We hope to be able to announce more details by the September.

We are considering releasing a beta update for Steam once we have made some progress in the development of the other device versions.

The English version will be released in end of July or later. Until then, we will continue to polish the functionality in Japanese only.

Currently, the development team is working on the game itself, editor, and some ports in parallel. We would like to inform you of the current status of each of them.

[h2]Game[/h2]
There have been no major developments since the beta update. We do not plan to update the game until development of the version for other devices.

We are planning to change the in-game japanese font in the HD UI due to the optimization for the development of other device versions.
We would like to share some screenshots that was during the test process.
This font was originally planned at the time of the initial UI design, but we were unable to implement it due to technical problems at the time.

Side note: This change has little effect on the Latin English display, and the parts of the font that are in a thin gothic font are not displayed correctly because they are still under development.

The English version will be released in June or later. Until then, we will continue to polish the functionality in Japanese only.
