First impressions about the release, further plans

Greetings to everyone who knows us, and who has not yet heard about us. We are a small studio of indie-developers "MAD SPROUTS", and for almost 3 years, we have been working on our first project - a video game, a raccoon simulator "Wanted raccoon". Finally, this year in March, we went into Early Access on Steam. In this article, we would like to talk about our work after the release, our impressions over the past 2 weeks, and also share the plans for the upcoming months.



We are so much thankful to our community - they are our assistants, our faithful friends! We were getting feedback in our groups in social networks over all these 3 years, trying to listen to every review, every comment, and have always tried to do what people could happily spend their time doing.

What is the first day of the release? Is it exciting, worrying? No, these are not proper words. We were having a voice chat on Telegram with the team, hysterically joking and trying to pull ourselves together to finally press the long-awaited "Release" button (we even shot a video to remember this moment). The first streams on Twitch started in a couple of hours after the release, and the whole week passed in one breath - we were monitoring all the websites, watching video reviews, streams, reading comments - all for the sake of mastering all the bugs. Most of the mistakes have already been solved, there are some patches ahead, where we are carrying out the final clean-up.



Since this is our first project, creating the storyline was not an easy task. We needed to think over all possible actions of the players for the plot and take into account all the cases where some of the actions are skipped or some task is completed earlier. We have already fixed most of the weaknesses in the story. For example, some doors would not open, boxes would disappear if the player stunned some enemy ahead of time. These errors should not show up again.

The saving function combined with the plot created additional errors in the game, that's why we`ve made a new saving system that allows us to develop the game, increase the game world, add new characters, locations, and new game mechanics without losing progress while playing the game.
The localization system will be fixed during April. This will allow us to add the translation into many languages, such as: Russian, English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese.



Also, we will add the ability to restart the mission this month, i.e. if an error appears somewhere, the player will not need to start the game over, one can simply restart the active mission and continue the game from the last checkpoint.

We are very pleased that people share everything that happens with them on Steam, which helps us to make a bugfix faster. Also, we receive many messages in our Discord, join here: https://discord.gg/RRGSj4Xb86



Despite the bugs in the game, we receive pleasant letters and proposals for cooperation from various influencers, both from starting streamers/bloggers and from large publications, which greatly motivates us to make the game better!

Already completed:
1. Building the Raccoon's base;
2. A new location was added (gas station);
3. Player's buildings are saved now;

What will be in the next updates:
1. New location;
2. Localization of the game into a number of languages;
3. Open world (by the end of June);
4. Controller support.

And we continue to fix all the bugs and issues that you report about.
We want to remind you of our plans for a distant, but not too distant future - there will be multiplayer!

BIG BUGs FIXes #2 in WANTED RACCOON

Friends, in the last patch we tried to fix many problems that you mentioned in your feedbacks, letters and bug reports. So here is the list of new bug fixes that, thanks to you, significantly improved the gameplay process in Wanted Raccoon. Please install the update and launch the game!



1. Added a new mission: Rescuing Old Joe;
2. Added resource warehouse interface;
3. The mission with building a wind generator works correctly now;
4. Buildings that you built are saved now;
5. The state and position of the doors can also be saved;
6. The problem with the rope during deliveries is solved;
7. More zones for construction were added;
8. The problem with the doors that couldn’t be opened is solved;
9. Robbery planning room was added;
10. Colliders were added to scene objects;
11. Reliability of the saving was improved;
12. Additional respawn points were added;
13. The reference to MGS at bus stops were removed;
14. The problem when Jack the Raccoon could not reach the dump after the construction site is also solved;
15. And finally we made lots of minor bug fixes from bug reports.

The next update will content a new location, new sounds, a full base building. We will also continue to fix all the bugs and problems you report about.

Taking stock of the first release week of WANTED RACCOON

Hello everybody!

It's been a week since our Wanted Raccoon went into Early Access for our players, and we would like to take stock.

This is our first project. Of course, it was not without excitement, but despite some difficulties, we managed to attract attention. There were several reviews of Wanted Raccoon from big game bloggers, for what we are extremely thankful! Letters and suggestions from different sides of the planet come to our mail, which means that we are moving in the right direction!

We've got every feedback of yours, and this last week has been spent working on bugs and patching. Therefore, we will soon please you with good updates that will significantly improve the game.

Done:
1. The problem with a black screen on PC with UHD 610-630 video cards (now if you disable postprocessing in graphic settings the problem is gone);
2. Trapwire now can be placed not only near the doors;
3. You can take a trapwire in inventory;
4. The plot works correctly if NPC was stunned or tied up ahead of time;
5. The problem with some missing colliders on objects;
6. The player no longer appears in the kennel while catching at the construction site;
7. Getting stuck in boss pickup and garbage truck after loading the game is fixed;
8. The problem with saving is fixed (but broken save, unfortunately, cannot be restored);
9. The problem with turning on sleep effects in the city after a dart hit;
10. Fixed some missing icons;
11. Added a warning about the end of available storyline;
12. Fixed drawing range on some objects;
13. The robbery room problem is fixed (when it was possible to get stuck it in);
14. Spilled cement not really slows down builders!
15. The activation time of some traps and destruction is reduced;
16. The problem with resetting the timer for activating the trap or binding the mob is fixed;
17. The problem with the crane that blocked the entrance to the junkyard after loading the game;
18. The problem with a number of points in the task "destroy the boss's house" is solved;
19. Now the player can exit the stealth mode (he could not stop sneaking before);
20. The problem when the Pirate raccoon did not go to the next point in the junkyard;
21. The problem with the Pirate raccoon when he did not pick up the part from the crane is fixed;
22. The problem with the inability to leave the box if the player was inside it when saving;
23. White screen problem is fixed.

From the previous patch:
1. The problem with the ball that sometimes fell through the ground is solved;
2. A rope reel near the gardeners' house is added;
3. The time for drawing water into the sink during a flood in the boss's house is accelerated;
4. Flushing mobs with a hydrant now works correctly;
5. The problem with getting the key from the boss's room is fixed;
6. Incorrect pointer for setting trap in last dream is also fixed.

And in several days we will also add one more patch,
