The Adventures of Crackhead Jack: Overdose Edition News

v1.0.0.5 - Minor OST updates

1.0.0.4 was a very minor behind-the-scenes update that didn't deserve a changelog.

 • "Fizz Boss" OST track has been updated, courtesy of Yung Data

v1.0.0.3 - Crashes and other fixes

More crashes and bugs fixed in this patch. Fun stuff.
Fixes
• Broken message width after reading a message before the first boss
 • Player could infinitely flip a switch in the Laboratory Basement and get an achievement
 • Bruzzle's contract doesn't disappear if you say no
 • Pitheor's weapons and skills weren't buyable and caused a crash

Best of luck in finding your crack. If you liked the game, give it a review.

v1.0.0.2 - Fullscreen support and fixes

The v1.0.0.2 update brings a couple of bug fixes and addresses potential crashes. Plus, fullscreen support is added!

With the removal of F1/F12 use, Steam may prompt you to install Visual C++ 2013 Redist, much like when you run a game with a "first time setup". Worry not.
Minor changes
• Added fullscreen support. Press F5 to toggle, and F6 to adjust window size ratios.
 • Readjusted some Stun chances on late-game weapons
 • Removed the ability to use the RPGMaker default binds (F1, F12, Alt+Enter)
Fixes
• Enemies in Depths, Sodatown Port, and the Cruise used old events where using the horn could break respawn timers
 • A sidequest item at Route 10 Lot was unusable
 • Auto-win events used an incorrect version of a skill
 • Leftover debug messages when using a Plastic Knife
 • Some achievements were unobtainable (specifically, When the Sun Hits and Lost Boys)

Best of luck in finding your crack. If you liked the game, give it a review.

Crackhead Jack: Overdose Edition - Breakdown of Changes

This announcement post is be a breakdown of some of the changes between The Adventures of Crackhead Jack: Classic and Overdose Edition listed in the store description.
Overhaul of Random Encounters
In Classic, battles began at random points walking around a map that had enemy encounters. Overdose overhauls this system and places visible enemies that you can run away from! They also initially spawn at the same places, if some players are into that. In addition, they can be respawned when using a horn!
Revamped Areas and Towns
Some maps in Overdose Edition now have new layouts, have been redone completely, or have had some extra visual change. With the rewriting of the story, some maps have been replaced with all new areas. I didn't want to spoil new areas here, so I won't.
Over 50 New Attack Animations
I wanted to keep a more consistent visual look in comparison to the messy look of the original. So, all the stock image animations have been replaced with new sprites.
UI Enhancements
The game's font is now in a monospace and more fitting font! Along with this, a bunch of game windows have been cleaned up, as well as more consistent game prompts.
Extra System Options
Overdose Edition adds the next-gen feature of a volume slider, and multiple resolutions! Fullscreen can also be toggled using F5, and resized using F6.
Other new changes
- Steam Cloud and Achievements - Your saves are safe across updates and new computers. There are 30 Steam achievements to complete, and it won't be easy.

- Better XInput support - Classic only had limited support for some DInput and XInput pads. That was the extent of my testing for Classic, at least. Now everything should work smoothly with a couple of configurations to Steam-supported controllers!

- New soundtrack - Artists Sam Wakeman, Yung Data, Mason Rhodes, and Lil Daddy Kane were gracious enough to give a unique sound to the new edition! Now we are no longer left with random ripped chiptune remixes off the internet... consider supporting the soundtrack artists by buying the OST or OST bundle, at a discounted price!
Closing
Hopefully this convinces some of you to try the new Overdose edition and abandon the old and dirty Classic version...

Crackhead Jack: Overdose Edition - Out October 22, 2020

I can finally replace the "2020" text on the release date section.

The Adventures of Crackhead Jack: Overdose Edition, the complete rework of its Classic counterpart, is releasing on October 22, 2020.

With this Steam release, there comes overhauls of a ton of features not available in the Classic edition. There are new areas, quests, weapons, skills, and consumables to try.
