We've heard your feedback on Fresh Start Worlds and have some changes to announce – read on for all the updates, including our new release date! Plus, we've got a brand new Yak Track that's sure to drive you wild... Let's dive in!



Take a walk on the Wildy side this month with Yak Track: Expedition to the Wilderness!

Complete fun tasks on the latest track and unlock lore-rich cosmetics inspired by the recently-revamped Wilderness. Upgrade to Premium for truly wild rewards including the Vagabond Knight’s Outfit, Dark Beast Pet and more!

You get a Yak Sack item at stages throughout the track and on every completion of the Infinite Reward task. This item gives you an array of useful rewards as well as a rare chance at the new Shoulder Capes!



Remember you can choose which activity to complete at every tier, or just use Bonds to grab a Task Skip if you’re not feeling any of the tasks at a particular stage.

Thank you so much for all your feedback on Fresh Start Worlds since last week’s announcement. We really appreciate your insight as we embark on a new concept for RuneScape! Click here to read our newspost which has the full update on some of the changes we’re making.

Highlights include:

• Rebalancing of XP multipliers and Boons.
• Limiting use of Bonds during the Competitive Period.
• A way for existing players to exchange Bonds for Membership on another account in order to access Free Start Worlds.

[h2]Wilderness Ruleset[/h2]

• Wearing the Mask of Gloom now correctly forces a Dark Beast Slayer Tasks.
• The Ice Block shortcut at Ghorrock can now be used while in combat.

[h2]The Beach 2022[/h2]

• We reverted the Lumbridge Crater after the Beach event ended, but a rogue Bank chest icon remained on the world map. This has now been removed.

[h2]Other Fixes[/h2]

• Fixed players turning invisible when standing where Adresteia used to stand before Zamorak's quest.
• Fixed an issue where the Augmented Dragon Pickaxe turns into an Orikalkum Pickaxe upon dying in PVP in the Wilderness.
• Fixed an issue where you could not use the Snipe ability while moving if you were wearing Enhanced Nightmare Gauntlets in PvP.

[h2]Requirements Changes[/h2]
In the coming months, RuneScape will no longer support Windows 32-bit builds or graphics cards that do not support OpenGL 3.0 or higher. This change allows us to focus our technical development and testing resources on more commonly-used platforms.

The team are keeping this week's update small in our usual summer break. While this usually means no update at all, this week we've got just a couple of small patch notes that are going live with the Monday update.

• Fixed an arithmic overflow with Protean Processors when using them with the Cinder Core Buff
• Fixed disassembling from stopping once another item was placed in the first slot
• Fixed an issue where Balloon Fragments were not being added while Runecrafting in certain areas
• Fixed an issue where Bank would close with an error due to players using many Cinder/Pulse cores

And, as the cherry on top of this new party full of goodies, Double XP: LIVE kicks off this Friday too! Read on all for all the info.



It's actually unbelievable to be marking the creation of over 300M Accounts for RuneScape. - partly because our front page timer lied to us (Spaghetti Code™) and we've been trying to make it play catch up for a while now, but mostly because it's such an incredible number of accounts! But here we are, over 300M accounts deep, 21 years into this amazing journey.

With the counter now correctly showing that at the time of writing over 320M accounts exists (for those interested in the specifics, we're working on getting the exact number to accurately show!), we just wanted to say a big thank you to every single person who has taken the time to enter the world of Gielinor. RuneScape exists and endures because it's more than a game - it's a world, a place, a community. This is a moment to celebrate all of you who bring this world to life and mark yet another milestone for the history books. While not every account represents a unique player, each one represents sometimes time, effort and interest in spending time in this world. That's pretty damn awesome and we'll never forget it.

Now, as you'd expect, we've known this big milestone was coming this year for a while now - so we've been preparing a few things to mark the occasion.

Firstly, we're throwing a Party Event throughout August in RuneScape that launches TODAY! More on that below.

However, we've got something else in the works too. We've been working on this for many months now since we first thought about how we could really celebrate hitting 300M players, and while we're not quite ready to talk about it today, we're almost at that point. Stay tuned for more news next week. It's gonna be fun.



To celebrate 300M Players, we're throwing a special event party with a whole host of exclusive event cosmetics to collect! Unfortunately, Party Pete was the one asked to put the party together and went a little TOO big by trying to run a Gielinor-wide drop party. He horribly miscalculated and all the balloons ended up popped - leaving fragments all over. We're gonna have some work to do.
[h2]Getting Started[/h2]

The Grand Exchange is party central for this event! Head to the partied-up G.E to find Party Pete, this event's host, and claim your free 300M Keepsake Glasses!

[h2]Saving The Party[/h2]

Party Pete now needs your help to clean up all those Balloon Fragments from his failed drop party plans.

Find balloon fragments simply by playing the game - as you earn XP, you'll earn balloon fragments. You'll also get balloon fragments with every Treasure Hunter key used too. For every 200 Fragments you return to him, he'll give you a special balloon filled with rewards ranging from exclusive event cosmetics to GP and more!

Depending on the balloon colour depends on the rarity of rewards you can find beginning with White, then Blue, then Purple and then finally the best of them all - the Gold Balloons. Gold Balloons feature a guaranteed token for one of the Platinum Armour cosmetic sets or a whopping 300M GP!

You can also claim a free bonus balloon every day from Party Pete. Easy extra opportunities to find those treasured Gold Balloons!
[h2]Collectibles & Rewards[/h2]

Party Pete whipped up a selection of new goodies to put into the Drop Party. Here's what you can find that's brand new to this event:

[h2]Wilderness Reborn[/h2]

• Based on your feedback we have made the following changes to the Abyss:
  • The Abyss can now be entered without the requirement of being opted-in to PVP. The 250% Runecrafting XP bonus still applies for opted-out players who Runecraft via the Abyss
  • The Forinthry bracelet no longer consumes charges when entering the Abyss while equipped. The examine has been updated to reflect this change.
  • Players who do opt-in for PVP and use the Demonic Skull receive the 350% XP bonus
• Fixed an issue with the Wilderness Slayer Chests being destroyed on death. They now work as follows:
  • If you are inside the Wilderness with PvP enabled, the chest will be destroyed.
  • If you inside the Wilderness with PvP disabled, the chest will be protected
  • If you outside the Wilderness with PvP disabled, the chest will be protected
  • If you outside the Wilderness with PvP enabled, the chest will be protected
• Additional sound effects have been added for the following
  • Wilderness Volcano shortcuts
  • Wilderness Volcano random event (projectile)
    • - Wilderness Ambushes (spawn sound)
• Super antifire potions can now be traded and bought/sold on the Grand Exchange.
• Picking up coins outside of the Wilderness - no matter your pvp state - will now see them go directly into the coin pouch, rather than your inventory.
• Fixed a small section of tiles that did not count as being "Wilderness"
• Updated two of the Onyx dragons in the wilderness dungeon to Dragonstone dragons
• For their own safety, the Ghostly piper has moved away from their old spot to a new spot nearby. One that is a bit less dragon contested
• Fixed an issue where creatures spawned in via Wilderness Threat could appear at higher mapping levels, making it look like they are floating.
• Wilderness dark beasts now drop loot matching other dark beasts
• Killing Soulgazers whilst on a 'Soulgazers (Wilderness)' task will now decrease your slayer count.
• Fixed an issue that allowed players to attack Abyssal Demons inside Kuradel's Dungeon if they were on an 'Abyssal Demons (Wilderness)' slayer task.
• Dummies can no longer be placed down whilst inside the Wilderness.
• The reward chest outside of the Dragonkin Laboratory has been re-mapped down on the surface world.
• Moved a piece of the environment that was blocking access to the Sword of Edicts Engram
• May's quest teleport now takes you to the bottom of the Falador throne room stairs, instead of the version of the throne room not used for Daughter of Chaos

[h2]General[/h2]

• Made changes to the Zamorak, Lord of Chaos rare drop table to incentivize pushing higher enrages:
  • Rare chance now increases further with boss enrage
• Bow chance now increases with boss enrage
• During Phase 7 of the Zamorak, Lord of Chaos encounter, the chaos demon(s) that spawn into Infernus could be used to negate the damage done by the attack itself. This should no longer occur.
• Completing a Zamorak, Lord of Chaos kill at 2000% enrage now unlocks the 'Chaos Witch Master' outfit, rather than the 'Chaos Witch Adept' outfit
• Fixed an issue with the Resonance and Reflect abilities when engaging in PvP whilst having the Bow of the Last Guardian equipped
• The following boss encounters were missing a broadcast for completing their respective boss collection logs. This now been fixed!
  • Zamorak, Lord of Chaos
  • Croesus

The RuneScape Art Community continues to battle it out in a vicious gang war of drawings, comics, fan fiction, music, sculpting and a whole host of other mediums as after a whole month there has been a total of 526 pieces created!

Here is what the scores currently stand at!



If you are not familiar with the Art fight premise here are the rules, to summarize, 2 teams of talented artists are creating artworks of the opposing team (of their own allies in some instances) in order to gain points based on a variety of factors with the team with the most points winning!

We have gathered up a few of these recent attacks to showcase just some of the wonderful work that is on show!



First up! Ravon of the Black Arm Gang attacking Geena using Sliske to a devastating effect!

And last but definitely not least Willoway of the Phoenix gang with this fantastic group shot of various members of the teams in a High School Anime style to strike back at Nikki, for a little more context, Nikki has been creating some amazing art of the teams as if the members all went to the same school and the whole Art War was just rival school gangs and it is hilarious and wholesome. This piece is littered with in-jokes of the community and it is a fantastic amalgamation of the Art fight as a whole.

Finally a special shout out to Siroquois for their contributions to the event, they have personally created 37 Art pieces hitting each and every member of the rival gang in a variety of formats from solitary drawings, to comic strips, parodies, and even a 22-page (11 sheets) long graphic novel they have been an absolute Art Fight Professional and deserve a thunderous round of applause!

The Wilderness enters a new era this week with a fresh look and a fiendish new PvM system. We've also put an exciting new quest in there – so you've got the perfect excuse to take a look around! Read on for all the details, plus new merch, community updates and more.



An iconic location gets a major revamp today – it’s time to return to the Wilderness!

The area has a new PvM focus, a ‘Threat’ system that adapts to your unique style, a high-risk-high-reward Slayer experience, and a new opt-in system for PvP!

And it’s not just gameplay that’s changing – we’ve brought the look and feel of the place up to date with improved graphics, as well as new hazards to keep you on your toes.

Yes, what was once a PvP warzone has now become a high-risk, high-reward PvM area. Our goal is for the Wilderness to be the best way to train Slayer, with the highest enemy density and rewards.

As you spend more time in the Wilderness completing activities or Slayer tasks, your Threat level will rise. As your Threat level rises, your risk of death increases - but you'll earn Slayer streak bonuses in the process. This will give you opportunities to snag Reaper Points and shiny new rewards!

Looking for a good place to start? Head to Mandrith, who is now located at the Pirate House, to begin your Slayer tasks. You’ll need Slayer 85+, Combat 120+.

Still, hankering for good ol’ PvP? Speak to Vala at the border of the Wilderness to opt-in and get that iconic Wilderness Skull. Any Skulled player can attack other players who have their Skull enabled.

An important message about the early hours of this update...

It’s pretty major work to take a significant area of the game and transform the way it looks and operates. An update like this will therefore bring with it some risks. We want to be ready – even over-prepared – for the unexpected.

When the update deploys, we will be taking our Worlds down for a few minutes to take a snapshot: a picture of your account, who owns what, etc.

If any major issues occur, we will then have this snapshot to roll back to if absolutely necessary.

For this reason, we recommend that up until 16:00 Game Time you do not take part in any activities where you might gain something valuable that would be painful to lose.

Again, we don't expect anything bad to happen, but it may be best to remain cautious!



As the new Wilderness is revealed, our Legacy of Zamorak storyline begins in earnest with a new quest – Daughter of Chaos.

If you’ve not been following the recent Zamorak craic, or aren’t quite ready to face the daunting Elder God season first, this is the perfect jumping-in point for the whole storyline!

This new quest will have you exploring the Wilderness to investigate rumours of a Zamorakian Civil War. Complete the job and you’ll be rewarded with Wilderness buffs including a 10% damage reduction and 5% damage increase against monsters.

Start the quest by speaking to Adrasteia in Falador Castle Throne Room. You'll need 40 Archaeology and 40 Divination to get started, with no other requirements. Easy!



Get ready to be transported to the Kharidian Desert with the latest pins and keyrings from Angels Scapes! Find them in the Cities of RuneScape range at the Official Merch Store: https://runescape.backstreetmerch.com/

• Sq'irk Mini Pin Set: A set of slightly sq'irky, er, we mean, quirky, fruits from the Sorceress's Garden!
• Green Slayer Helm: A Slayer Helmet recoloured with the head of the Kalphite Queen.
• Infinity Robes Pin, Light Infinity Robes Pin, Dark Infinity Robes Pin: Mystical robes obtained from the Mage Training Arena, with a light recolour and a dark recolour, now in pin form!

Don't miss your chance to nab the iconic Assassin's Walk animation this week in Treasure Hunter: The Assassin's Return! Read on for all the info, plus maintenance plans, community news and more.



If you've always wanted to get your hands on the legendary Assassin's Walk animation, now's your chance. (Naruto) run, don't walk, to Treasure Hunter: The Assassin's Return!

The iconic animation is up for grabs along with a whole host of on-theme gear – just complete a series of contracts to get your hands on those sneaky goodies.



First, pick a monster and slay them instantly for an Assassin-themed reward. You’ll then receive a contract to defeat a certain number of different monster types.

Complete the contract, and you’ll get an Assassin Chest: this gives you a guaranteed chance to pick up either some new Assassin-y cosmetics (in various colours), 5 million GP, or that must-have animation!



Remember to also keep an eye out for the Assassin themselves - they're a super-rare monster spawn that might just appear in your lineup! Defeat them for a guaranteed Assassin's Walk drop. Well, they won't be using it...

In order to best maintain the services that power RuneScape, we're introducing a recurring maintenance window to health check all our systems and ensure everything is optimal.

Following your feedback from last week's deployment, we are still working on when, how often and for how long maintenance work will take place on the final schedule. As soon as we have that information, we'll let you know all the details.

For now, our next maintenance downtime is planned for August 3rd, and we'll confirm the specific hours in next week's TWIR.

• Added the missing information for the Croesus Front resources in the Skill Guides.
• Fixed an issue that meant players needed 100 solo and 100 group kills of the Zamorak, Lord of Chaos boss to unlock Insane Final Boss, rather than 100 kills combined.
• Fixed an issue that prevented Zamorak's attacks from reaching the player in phase seven if they are stood next to the Infernus Portal.

• Invention and Archaeology are now correctly restored after fights with certain stats-reducing bosses in the Dominion Tower.
• Fixed an issue where some versions of the Augmented Dark Silver of Leng had different costs on death.
• All variant Pontifex Rings can now be used to pass the Pontifex barriers.
• Fixed an issue where Spiritual Mages were not affected by Aggression Potions while the player was more than two tiles away from the NPC.
• Fixed broken emotes in the Spirit of Summer quest.
• Dragon Fruit items are now correctly transferred to the Bank while using Sign of the Porter.
• Fixed an issue where players could collect multiple Ectoplasmators without checking it off in the Slayer Log. Pick up the next Ectoplasmator drop you receive to check it off.
• Dawnforged Gauntlets now appear in the correct Wardrobe tab.
• Fixed an issue where the Players were unable to change the colour of the Flaming Skull after it was keepsaked.
• Corrected the display dimensions of all 2D image sequences from 1024x500 to 1024x576, to match the aspect ratio of their images.
• The tooltip for the Snaring Wave (Tier 5) Scroll now appears correctly in the Summoning interface.
• Fixed an issue causing the Relic abilities 'Ingenuity of the Humans' and 'Limitless' to use their desktop variants on mobile.
• Fixed an overlapping issue on the Login menu for some mobile devices.
• Fixed an issue preventing error messages from closing on the Login menu.
• Fixed an issue causing the transparency of the User Interface to reset on desktop when repeatedly logging into mobile.
• Fixed an issue causing Helwyr to stop attacking when placed north during the Battle of the Monolith.
• Fixed an issue that could cause TzHaar to become immortal during the Battle of the Monolith.

[h2]Requirements Changes[/h2]
In the coming months, RuneScape will no longer support Windows 32-bit builds or graphics cards that do not support OpenGL 3.0 or higher. This change allows us to focus our technical development and testing resources on more commonly-used platforms.
