Tales of Pride - This Week in RuneScape

We’ve got lots of fantastic Pride Month updates this week, and a free birthday gift to celebrate one year of RuneScape on mobile! Plus, Prime Gaming goodies and more.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate love and LGBTQIA+ identity in all its forms. We're honoured to have such a diverse community playing RuneScape, and so this Pride Month, we want to honour YOU!

We're marking the occasion with a new mini-event expanding on the backstories of Gielinor's LGBTQIA+ characters. Tales of Pride sets you on a journey to discover seven unique stories, written by LGBTQIA+ members of the RuneScape team. through journals and conversations!

The tales will take a little sleuthing to find - they take the form of journals, lorebooks, and conversations, so keep your eyes peeled! Why not hop into your favourite community spaces and hunt them down with friends? Collecting all seven tales unlocks the 2022 Pride Banner that can be used in the weapon slot, as well as a rainbow-coloured variant of the Gators from Het's Oasis!

Stylish and practical!

Speak to the Curator in Burthorpe to collect your Magic Book and begin your adventure.

The event ends on June 30th, but the book will remain in the bookcase of your Player-Owned House for you to peruse year-round.

Happy Pride!

The LGBT Corner Clan have run a few Pride parades in RuneScape now, and they’ve always been a fabulous, fun show of solidarity, with thousands of LGBTQIA+ players and allies joining across multiple worlds. We’re pleased to announce that this year is no different!

The 2022 LGBT Corner Clan Parade will take place next week - so you've lots of time to pick up the 2022 Pride Banner to bring along! On the day, simply head to Lumbridge Castle on June 24th at 17:00 Game Time on World 24.

J-Mods from across Jagex will also be joining the celebration and handing out the special Pride Love Letter variant!

See you there!

Can you believe it's already been a year since RuneScape’s mobile launch? The platform has fast become a core part of the player experience, whether you're a mobile main or an occasional skiller on-the-go. In the last year we've launched a raft of updates – including dedicated Ninja Strikes – to further improve the platform, and we're pleased to announce that you've more to look forward to as we explore RuneScape on mobile's full potential.

To mark the one year anniversary, our team has put together a small gift package to show our thanks for a great year since launch. Head to the Marketplace on either desktop or mobile to claim the Mobile 1 Year Anniversary Gift Pack, including the Bullsmith Outfit (previously only available through new mobile Memberships), five Treasure Hunter Keys and one Small Knowledge Bomb (giving 50% Bonus XP for one hour).

We're also marking the occasion with some bonus Key Bundles for a limited time - purchase 200 Keys and you’ll receive three Small Knowledge Bombs free, or for 450 Keys, you’ll get nine Small Knowledge Bombs free.*

The free pack and bonus gifts for 200 and 450 Keys are available from today, June 13th, until June 27th.

*450 Keys with Knowledge Bombs bonus is unfortunately not available on iOS.

This Week In RuneScape: New Crowns of Loyalty & DXP LIVE

Show your loyalty to RuneScape with a new wearable that says 'commitment' as much as it says 'elegance'! We've also got updates on the boardgame, patch notes and more…

Have you been with us from the start? Time to show your commitment with a touch of glamour! Crowns of Loyalty are a snazzy wearable for members who have maintained an unbroken subscription for long periods of time.

Your membership history is tracked since the Members' Loyalty Store was introduced on May 28th 2011 - 'Unbroken Membership' is defined as a continuous Membership subscription without more than 14 days of lapsed Membership.

Now we’re adding Crowns for the next five years of Membership, from 2011 to 2015. Check them out below!

If you qualify, the Crown will automatically be added to your Bank upon login.

DXP LIVE continues until May 30th, giving you 48 hours of boosted XP on a timer. Make sure to use your time wisely - you can always pause the timer to max those gains when it's most convenient for you!

Remember, there's a new feature this time around which means you can exchange your hours for credit with Nic The Trader. You can trade an hour a day, so make sure you log in each day of DXP LIVE.

For more details on how DXP Live works, including the new feature, check the blog.

We’re back with our weekly update on Steamforged Games’ tabletop adventure, RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg - coming to Kickstarter in one week!

Today, we are looking at exactly what’s included in each pledge level, and checking out the latest minis including the dragon knight, capes, Noob and Delrith.

Launching in just 8 days time on May 31st, this Kickstarter is your chance to support Steamforged Games and get your hands on loads of exclusive extras. But remember – it will only stay live for 10 days, so give it a follow now and don’t miss your chance!

As usual, there are multiple pledge levels to choose from. Full details and pricing can be found on Steamforged’s blog. For now though, let’s go over the basics!
Core Pledge
The Core Pledge includes RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg and the Kickstarter-exclusive Culinaromancer Expansion!

This 15-hour replayable campaign comes with 16 detailed minis, including the Noob NPC and the Culinaromancer himself, plus over 400 cards.

On top of that, you’ll also get all the Kickstarter-exclusive cards unlocked through backer votes during the Kickstarter.

Psst - you may well have spotted TzTok-Jad in the pic above - see below for a close up!
Gameplay All-In Pledge
If you want all the gameplay content from the Kickstarter campaign, then this is the pledge for you! It includes the core RuneScape Kingdoms box and all four expansions, each themed around a unique boss. It’s a replayable 24-hour fantasy adventure packed into one great-value pledge – and you'll get all the Kickstarter-exclusive content, too!

Yes, that includes the King Black Dragon and TzKal-Zuk minis in the image above, plus additional minis including the Wise Old Man and other iconic NPCs.
Deluxe All-in Pledge (Kickstarter Exclusive)
Don’t wanna miss a thing? Then the Deluxe All-in Pledge will be right up your street. It’s packed with all the gameplay content so far and all the deluxe upgrades – so as well as your regular components, you’ll receive a neoprene game mat, four neoprene boss mats, wooden tokens, metal coins, and a set of special-edition dice, all of which are Kickstarter Exclusive. Don’t miss out!

Now, while you’re deciding which pledge is right for you, let’s take a look at this week’s featured minis ......
Mini Features: More Bosses, WOM, Noob and Dragon Knight (and Capes)!
Demon Slayer is the second campaign in the base game for Shadow of Elvarg, and it will bring you face-to-face with Delrith!

This dastardly demon nearly brought Varrock to ruin before he was slain by a brave hero. Now history is repeating itself, as the Dark Wizards outside of Varrock attempt to raise Delrith to wreak havoc anew!

Your band of brave adventurers will need to seek out Silverlight, the legendary sword said to have brought Delrith’s reign of terror to an end the first time. Can you stop the dark ritual before Varrock's old adversary is unleashed?

If you do defeat Delrith then your intrepid band will then come across Jad. Where does Jad come into the story of the board game, you ask? You’ll have to play to find out!

Truth be told, Jad may not be the most willing participant in this tale. Either way, you’ll need to outlast his rage to have any chance of facing the real villain of this story…

Whoah there, whoah there! No, the Wise Old Man isn’t the villain! He can help you defeat some of them, though. As a retired adventurer himself, he’s a formidable wizard and a powerful ally.

Available in the TzKal-Zuk Expansion, once on the board he can be enlisted to aid you during any of your campaigns, delaying rising danger and sharing ancient knowledge of questionable origins…

No RuneScape boardgame would be complete without a noob! With their default costume and features, this unedited starting character is an NPC you’ll run into during your adventures. Equipped with a rusty bronze longsword and a flimsy wooden shield, they might ask for your help to complete their beginner-level challenges. Will you lend your assistance, or just assume they’re a bot?

You will find the Noob in the Culinaroromancer Expansion.

Now more on your player avatars and less about Noobs. There should be a point in any game where you have achieved enough to don some swanky new duds. RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg is no exception.

Yes, that’s right – every player avatar has an upgraded version (complete with a cape) to represent your progress in the game. For example, when the knight reaches a high enough level they’ll gain a full set of (legacy) Dragon Armour, new weaponry, and a hard-earned Fire Cape.

You might get a sneak peak of what these upgraded versions are for each player avatar if you look carefully at the tier reveal pics above - details to follow soon!

For more on the game, check out Steamforged’s weekly blogs. Last week they took a look at quests: how you get them, how you play them, and most importantly, how you complete them; later today they'll look at bosses!

You might also have spotted Mods Jack and Lenny playing through a digital demo of the game with our friends from Steamforged on a recent stream. If you missed it, you can catch up on YouTube!

Lastly, make sure to join the RuneScape Kingdoms Facebook Group . You’ll be among the first to see new cards and minis – plus, you’ll get all the latest news from the blog and have a direct line to chat with the developers about the game. Well worth the risk of stumbling upon Grandma’s minion memes.

We'll be conducting some essential maintenance on our systems during the month of May.

There will be some downtime on each of the systems as the modules are moved, but we expect this to be at most 30 minutes for each area affected! Here's a look at which systems will be impacted over the next month:
Date and Time
Potential Impact
Approximate Downtime
May 25th - 10:00 BST
Payment systems unavailable.
30 minutes

If you're already in-game during any maintenance impacting login or world-hopping, you should be able to continue playing with no problems - though we would advise avoiding any risky activity, just to be safe!

Stay tuned to @JagexSupport on Twitter for updates on each deployment.

Wednesday May 26th | 16:00 Game Time | DXP Skill & Chill

It's Double XP: LIVE! Hang out with a team of J-Mods as they skill up and chat RuneScape.

See you on Twitch!

DXP LIVE & Skilling Strike - This Week In RuneScape

We’re all about the skilling this week, with the return of Double XP LIVE and the introduction of new Proteans! The Ninjas are in on the game too, with loads of tweaks related to quality of life around skills. Time to get training folks...

Double XP LIVE is back – and with a brand new feature!

From May 20th-30th you’ll have a timer with 48 hours of boosted XP, which you can activate and deactivate to max your gains whenever and however you wish.

This time, though, you'll also be able to trade hours for credits! These can be spent on all sorts of useful items at Nic the Trader’s Store. It’s a great way to make the most of time you don’t intend to use! You can trade one hour of credit per day, so don't forget to log in every day to reap the benefits.

Oh, and while we’re talking skills – remember the new Fletching & Firemaking training we introduced earlier this month is a great skilling method after level 82!

For more details on how DXP Live works, including the new feature, check the blog.

Stock up for your DXP skilling sesh with Time To Train! We’re introducing a new set of Proteans – the stackable skilling item that rewards XP relative to your current skill level – in a new Time to Train for Cooking, Runecrafting and Herblore!

Runecrafting's Protean Runes can be used on altars to earn Runecrafting XP. You'll want to visit the highest level altar you have access to, as XP rates are based on the altar used.

Herblore's Protean Shakes can be used anywhere you mix a potion to earn Herblore XP, while Cooking's Protean Protein can be used on fires and ranges to earn Cooking XP.

Note: these items will only be available from Treasure hunter, and cannot be gained from Protean Packs for the time being.

Time to Train begins May 19th and ends on May 25th.

The Ninjas have struck just in time for 10 days of Double XP with a whole host of skilling-focused quality of life updates!

Highlights include:
 • Ironman players can now join teams with other Ironman players and train together in Dungeoneering!
 • The Dungeoneering multiplier has been reworked to be less punishing for solo players.
 • Herblore gets a whole lot friendlier to train at high levels with Overload GE sets and tradeable Extreme Combats.
 • Skilling Auras have been added to Aura Refreshers.

Check out last week’s stream with Jamie and Russ from Steamforged as they walk Mod Raven and Mod Stu through the first campaign in the game.

Steamforged's Kickstarter starts on 31st May and will only run for 10 days, so sign up here and be the first to know when it goes live!

Steamforged’s latest blog is all about exploring Gielinor in RuneScape Kingdoms. Find out more about what you can do in the capitals and provinces of Asgarnia and Misthalin, and how to move around the fast travel game board.

Also, check out the first sight of Exploration Cards that are used to explore each kingdom, and two new minis!

Cower before the nightmare of Draynor Manor! This supernatural scourge is terrorising the inhabitants of Draynor Village. It’s down to you to put a stop to his bloodthirsty rampage in your first board game campaign.

(There are four campaigns in the RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg core box, each with an iconic boss waiting for you at the end. That’s four unique bosses in the core box alone!)

Of course, there’s plenty to do in Asgarnia and Misthalin, so you may find yourself distracted from your goal. But if you spend too long ignoring the threat of Count Draynor, he’ll begin to roam further afield in search of prey, making your exploration progressively more dangerous…

When you do finally face the Count, make sure you’ve been instructed in how to take down a vampyre, and armed yourself with a stake. Otherwise, you might not survive to tell the tale!

But let’s not worry about that for now. Instead, let’s say hello to mini number two: the clue hunter!

What if you’re not drawn to combat, or skilling? What if you heard the call of ‘fashionscape’ and thought, 'I’m into it'? If any of these are true, the clue hunter player avatar is for you!

Equipped with Old School Runescape's Staff of Bob the Cat and dressed in the Sandwich Lady outfit, the clue hunter is designed to represent someone just starting out on a fashionscape journey.

And with that, we’ve met all five player avatars! Or, the low level ones, at least. But more on that another time…

Join the RuneScape Kingdoms Facebook Group to keep up to date on the latest weekly blogs on how to play the game, reveals new cards and minis and chat directly with Steamforged’s devs about the game.

We'll be conducting some essential maintenance on a variety of our systems during the month of May.

There will be some downtime on each of the systems as the modules are moved, but we expect this to be at most 30 minutes for each area affected! Here's a look at what systems will see some impact over the next month:
Date and Time
Potential Impact
Approximate Downtime
May 16th - 10:00 BST
Unable to log in or world hop (Old School & RuneScape).
30 minutes
May 17th - 10:00 BST

May 25th - 10:00 BST

If you're already in-game during any maintenance impacting login or world-hopping, you should be able to continue playing with no impact - though we would advise avoiding any risky activity, just to be safe!
