Nightmare Puppeteer News

The experimental clay and 3d model import features are now in the default branch

If you want the old Nightmare Puppeteer version because you prefer it or because I fucked everything up use the "legacy" branch.

Nightmare Puppeteers size has also gone from 14gb to 5.6gb so its a much smaller program now AND its FREE.

Built in Video Capture added-

Shift + Ctrl + Backspace to start/stop recording. You'll see a recording icon on the bottom left of the screen when its active. The videos are saved in the "Captures" folder inside the game folder.

Added video recording to both the default and test branch.

Also added manual Spanish localization done by Eithereor.

New actor Look At + bug fix on default branch

Some weirdo lookin around
If you hold Control + Right Click the actor will now look at the mouse position.

I also fixed a bug that was introduced in the last update that might have prevented NP from launching, sorry bout that .

Small bug fixes we found when making "Nightmare Puppeteer: The documentary film"

Here at Imagination Rabbit we just made a feature film in NP you can view here

In doing so we found a few SUPER ANNOYING bugs like when you went to edit the actor it reset the jaw sensitivity 0_0 and when you clicked reset media the actor would walk away 0_0 Well those are fixed now sorry about that!

You can now use your own models in Nightmare Puppeteer

Here's a video showing the basics of importing 3d models into Nightmare Puppeteer

With the latest build on the "testy" branch you can test this out today!

Here's what you need to know about importing into Nightmare Puppeteer

TLDR

  • Fbx's for characters from these programs/sites supported- Daz 3d, iClone Character Creator, MakeHuman, Mixamo + any Blender, Maya etc humanoid model as long as you import them into a Unity project and generate a "rig definition" file using our free tool here

  • Any fbx from any program is supported as a "prop"
  • We made a free script to convert virtually any humanoid 3d model that will work in Unity into an NP body or head
  • We will make tutorials for this stuff and update the manual with it as soon as we finish adding the other new features

Your character model does not need to be just a body or a head. You import complete models and NP will sever their heads or bodies for you. We do what we can.

To use your model again without having to re-import it, add it to NP's Steam Workshop by clicking the upload button after importing. A benefit of this is that others can use your models.

*NOTE - as far as I've seen Steam Workshop has TONS of copyrighted models in it so I don't think anyone cares as long as they are not sold. So upload Shrek or Batman or whatever the fuck you want ^_^

We'll be updating the import stuff regularly for the next week or two until the other new features are done before we go to work on our next animated feature film.

** This stuff is still in testing so expect bugs- please report them as comments to this post or here on our github issues page. Thanks!
