Here's a video showing the basics of importing 3d models into Nightmare Puppeteer
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
With the latest build on the "testy" branch you can test this out today!
Here's what you need to know about importing into Nightmare Puppeteer
TLDR
- Fbx's for characters from these programs/sites supported- Daz 3d, iClone Character Creator, MakeHuman, Mixamo + any Blender, Maya etc humanoid model as long as you import them into a Unity project and generate a "rig definition" file using our free tool here
- Any fbx from any program is supported as a "prop"
- We made a free script to convert virtually any humanoid 3d model that will work in Unity into an NP body or head
- We will make tutorials for this stuff and update the manual with it as soon as we finish adding the other new features
Your character model does not need to be just a body or a head. You import complete models and NP will sever their heads or bodies for you. We do what we can.
To use your model again without having to re-import it, add it to NP's Steam Workshop by clicking the upload button after importing. A benefit of this is that others can use your models.
*NOTE - as far as I've seen Steam Workshop has TONS of copyrighted models in it so I don't think anyone cares as long as they are not sold. So upload Shrek or Batman or whatever the fuck you want ^_^
We'll be updating the import stuff regularly for the next week or two until the other new features are done before we go to work on our next animated feature film.
** This stuff is still in testing so expect bugs- please report them as comments to this post or here on
our github issues page. Thanks!
