Last Days of Lazarus, the supernatural adventure game heavily inspired by Romanian post-communist history, local superstitions and religious beliefs, arrives on Steam on June 22nd. This first-person narrative driven game will let you experience an enthralling story about family, loss and dark secrets, set on the backdrop of political turmoil and a spreading malediction.

After their mother's suicide, Lazarus returns home to his sister Lyudmila. But unexplained events make the country and even reality collapse around him. Looming death, social unrest and the supernatural threaten his sanity, yet Lazarus pushes forward to find the truth about his family. In a sick society where everyone cares only about themselves and their survival, can family bonds still be upheld and cherished?

Mark the date: June 22nd!

We are super excited to announce that Last Days of Lazarus will finally be arriving on Steam on June 22nd 2022. Join Lazarus in his quest to reconnect with his sister and to find out more about his family, all while unexplainable events and political turmoil surround him.
What to expect
Last Days of Lazarus is a collaboration between Darkania Works and GrimTalin, made in Unreal Engine 4 over the course of more than two and a half years. We are two tiny indie studios from Iasi, Romania. The game is heavily inspired from our local religious and supernatural beliefs and the places and times we grew up in.

The story is split into eight chapters and you'll be visiting five locations. We estimate new players will take three to four hours to finish the game, depending on how observant you are and if you want to find all the documents and collectibles and experience all the content. If you are a collectionist, you can keep track of your status for each chapter and choose to replay any of them if you've missed something.

Please wishlist the game if you haven't already and we hope you'll play the game on June 22nd!

Beta playtest update

A big thank you to our beta players who had a chance to try the game and have already given us valuable feedback!

The limited beta playtest will be playable up until April 25th, so those who got access and still haven't tried the game have another week at their disposal. We hope to hear your thoughts on the game too!

Join the limited beta playtest

We are delighted to invite you to try out the beta version of Last Days of Lazarus!

The beta test is limited to the first 50 players who will click the "Request Access" button in the "Playtest" section of the game's Steam page.

The beta version features the first five chapters of the game. We kindly ask all participants to avoid spoiling the story for other players.

Please submit your feedback on the dedicated discussion board or on our Discord channel. We look forward to hear your thoughts on the new content and features.

Steam Deck players are definitely welcome to participate, as we've worked hard to adapt the game to the device and ensure a smooth play experience.

Prologue available now!

You can now play the Last Days of Lazarus - Prologue and enjoy the first two and a half chapters from the full game. The Prologue also comes with the complete set of features the full game will have when it releases in the first part of 2022.

If you've played our previous demo, the story content will be mostly the same, but here is what's new in the Prologue:
 • New voice and look for Lazarus
 • Full controller support, including vibrations
 • Chapters menu, unlocked after you finish the Prologue
 • Visual improvements in the Kolyma region
 • 10 achievements to unlock
 • Cloud save support, also synced with the full game
 • Small changes in the script
 • Minor bug fixes

The Chapters menu is a great addition for those looking to replay certain acts from the game, maybe to find missed documents or collectibles, or to unlock new achievements. You can check the status of your collected documents and found collectibles for each chapter. When replaying an act, you can choose to skip its intro cutscene, if you want to go straight to exploring.

We hope you enjoy Last Days of Lazarus - Prologue. Please leave us a review and wishlist the full game! The unsettling big release is close...
