M. Bison gallops in on June 26 - Gameplay Details!

Hot off the Metro City presses, we’ve just announced the epic roster for Year 2 of Street Fighter 6! Hitting the streets are Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from the legendary fighting game series Fatal Fury by our friends at SNK. Galloping in on his high horse is fan favorite dictator M. Bison. Rounding out Year 2 and returning from the Street Fighter III and IV series is the high-spirited Elena.

We can’t wait to share more about these characters in the future, but for now, let’s put on a smile for the villainous return of M. Bison!

Gahaha! M. Bison returns to Street Fighter 6 on June 26 as the first character from Year 2, but this time, he has more to prove to himself than the pests he once crushed beneath him. From riches to rags, the fallen dictator gallops across the land on his stallion searching for an identity to make him smile.

First appearing as a playable character in Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, M. Bison has been one of the series’ most iconic villains with his unending quest for world domination. However, that dream came to an end when he was seemingly defeated by Ryu in Street Fighter V. But in the back alleys of Metro City, a mysterious man awakens with nothing but an unquenchable thirst for power. Even with no memories to recall, he stumbles upon the Ruined Lab with one name echoing in its desolate halls: Bison.

As a series staple, M. Bison fans should feel comfortable with his move set even if he now has both charged and motion inputs. With quick wits and a big grin, his pressure game is unmatched against grounded opponents. Psycho Power still courses through his veins as do iconic moves like Psycho Crusher and Double Knee Press.

Being on the brink of death has altered M. Bison’s approach from the skies, namely with Shadow Rise, a quick and high-reaching jump that has two follow-ups. The first is his iconic Head Press where the ex-dictator stomps on the opponent’s head. This can in turn be followed up with another aerial attack Somersault Skull Diver to keep up the pressure from the air. The second follow-up from Shadow Rise is Devil Reverse, a technique that chops at an opponent from above. The trajectories of all these follow-ups can be altered to keep opponents guessing.

A shift in M. Bison’s powers have unlocked the ability to plant Psycho Mines in his opponents with a new move, Backfist Combo. Once attached, these mines will detonate on their own after a short time or if M. Bison hits the opponent again with another Backfist Combo, Psycho Crusher Attack, or Devil Reverse. Psycho Mines are key to M. Bison’s pressure and mind games in Street Fighter 6. He can detonate them to make certain moves safe on block or to give him the advantage, and that’s in addition to the extra damage and potential follow-ups. Opponents should be cowering in fear when a mine is planted, but there is a glimmer of hope since hitting M. Bison will make the mines dissipate.

M. Bison’s Level 1 Super Art, Knee Press Nightmare, sees him taking aim at the opponent’s legs with a series of crushing blows and is invincible on start-up.

His Level 2 Super Art, Psycho Punisher, launches opponents into the air with a powerful shockwave from a stomp. This Super Art is perfect for punishing projectiles since the horse rider can choose how far he jumps.

Finally, his Level 3 Super Art, Unlimited Psycho Crusher, sees the mad man rushing towards the opponent and smashing them into the ground with devastating strength.

M. Bison’s Outfit 2 should be no stranger to fans since it’s directly inspired by his many past appearances in his dictator attire, including Street Fighter II: Champion Edition.

Over one year later, we are in awe of how much support our community has shown us. From the entire Street Fighter team, thank you for streaming the game for hours on end, playing it in tournaments of all kinds, creating fan art and cosplays that have our jaws dropping, and for sharing your passion with us. We can’t wait to show you more in Year 2!
