JDM: Rise of the Scorpion Hotfix 1.2

Ossu!

We are working tirelessly to resolve the issues and bugs in JDM: Rise of the Scorpion that you are reporting to us! We have just prepared and shipped the second hotfix that should make the prologue a better gaming experience for you.

Our Discord channel and Steam Discussion Forum are open for you to share any issues you’ve encountered during the prologue playthrough. The JDM team is actively gathering feedback to prioritize and address the most common problems reported by players.
Here are the fixes for patch 1.2:
Graphical fidelity - removed the excessing blurring in-game; disabled Chromatic Aberration; Improved image sharpness; fixed road texture issue. These changes do not impact game performance in any negative way.

Wheel presets and Custom Binding - added Logitech G29 preset including shifter mapping. In order for the steering wheel to work properly, the default steering wheel must be changed.

Go to Settings > Control > Steering wheel > Choose G29 preset.

Smartphone - disabled the option to change gearbox settings from the smartphone menu. We’ve noticed input issues after switching the gearbox settings from the smartphone menu, so we’ve removed the functionality for the time being, as we work our way towards a more permanent fix. You can still access the gearbox setting from the pause and main menu of the game.

Gearbox - added an assist notification for gearbox, stating that the H-shifter setting is reserved for steering wheels only.

Events balancing changes
 • Event #04 ‘Race with Satoru’: decreased the speed of Satoru by 30 percent;
 • Event #06 ’Date with Aoi’: decreased the amount of points required to complete the event to 42,5k points.
Challenge Mode - COMING SOON. Choose the type of race: grip or drift and try to score as many points as possible. There are unique cars to choose from for the grip race and others for the drift race - all tuned to have the best possible performance to test your skills.

We continue to work to further improve your experience. Please be patient as we resolve the most pressing issues.

Some of the known issues that still persist and how to work around them:

Custom Binding Steering Wheels - There is an issue with assigning buttons to the D-Pad on steering wheels. Please do not assign anything to the D-Pad as it will break the whole binding. It’s a priority issue for us that we’re working on currently.

Stuttering issues - Our observations show some AMD CPUs (most observed in the 5000 series) have a stuttering issue in JDM, which is caused by their PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) function. If you use such a CPU, and you're experiencing frame stuttering/lag - turning that function off could help reduce or even get rid of the problem entirely.

If you're using AMD Adrenalin software you should turn off this function from automatically triggering, and additionally, you can also turn it off in BIOS:

To turn it off: BIOS: Settings --> AMD OverClocking --> Precision Boost Overdrive

Additional Steering Wheels preset set-up - We’re working on adding additional presets and resolving the issues with currently implemented presets. If the preset doesn’t work for you immediately, please create a Custom Binding for your input.

You can find tips and tricks how to do that in this Steam Discussions thread.

Please remember that your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We encourage you to fill out the survey, send bug reports via email: [email protected], and share your comments on our Discord. Your input helps us respond quickly and make further improvements to ensure you have the best gaming experience possible. Expect more incoming hotfixes and patches in the near future.

Thank you for your patience and support. We look forward to your comments and suggestions! See you on the track!

JDM Support and Tips

Ossu,

We’re absolutely thrilled by the incredible response to the release of JDM: Rise of the Scorpion! A huge thank you to everyone who played the prologue and shared their thoughts and suggestions. Your feedback is invaluable as we work to resolve the issues and bugs you’ve encountered.
DRIVING ASSISTS
Since the demo, we’ve expanded the amount of driving assist options available to you. Some of them are now disabled when launching the game for the first time, so we’ve put together some essential information on what they do and what we recommend. While certain parameters may seem complex, our goal is to help you fine-tune your experience to best suit your style.

 • ABS - Enhances braking and helps to maintain control during turns. Recommended to keep ‘ON’ for improved driving stability.
 • TCS - Prevents wheel skidding. Turn ‘OFF’ when drifting for better skid control.
 • ESP - Helps to prevent loss of vehicle control. Recommended ‘OFF’ unless you’re roaming the open world or in situations where you want the car to keep steady on the track at all costs.
 • Gearbox - Adjusts the gearbox control type. Modify according to your driving preference.
 • Gamepad & Keyboard assist - Limits the car’s front axle twisting, making it easier to control via gamepad and keyboard. Turn ‘ON’ for gamepads and keyboard, and ‘OFF’ when using a steering wheel.
CRASHES
If you get an error on launch, in which OPENXR is mentioned, please do the following: remove the openxr_loader.dll file

You can find the file in the following folder: ProgramFiles(x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > JDMrots > Engine > Binaries > ThirdParty > OpenXR
PERFORMANCE ISSUES
We're looking into performance issues some of you have been reporting; If you meet the game's requirements and experience low performance, please reach out to us at: [email protected]. In the email please provide more information on your hardware specs, information on your in-game graphical settings, and information if the issues persist at all times or are only present in certain situations or locations. Also, please include a dxdiag file.

How to obtain a dxdiag file:
 • Press the windows button on your keyboard
 • Type dxdiag and hit enter
 • Wait for the diagnostic tool to gather data and press save all information
 • Attach the created .txt file to the email

We need as much information as possible to understand where the issue is coming from and create a fix.
STUTTERING ISSUE
Our observations show some AMD CPUs (most observed in the 5000 series) have a stuttering issue in JDM, which is caused by their PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) function. If you use such a CPU, and you're experiencing frame stuttering/lag - turning that function off could help reduce or even get rid of the problem entirely.

If you're using AMD Adrenalin software you should turn off this function from automatically triggering, and additionally, you can also turn it off in BIOS:

To turn it off.
BIOS: Settings --> AMD OverClocking --> Precision Boost Overdrive
STEERING WHEEL SETTINGS
We’ve also prepared a short video tutorial on how to customize keybindings for your hardware. Please watch it if you’re having trouble setting up your steering wheel.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
If you continue to experience issues after customizing keybindings, please send us your Saved/Config folder.

You can find this folder here: Main computer > System > Users > USER > AppData > Local > JDM > Saved > Config

Email the folder to: [email protected].
REPORT BUGS AND ISSUES
If you encounter any problems related to controls, settings, or performance, please reach out to us. While we may not be able to address every issue immediately, gathering your feedback helps us prioritize fixes more effectively. You can contact us through the Discord server, post in the appropriate thread on the Steam Discussion Forums or via email: [email protected].

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1364930/JDM_Rise_of_the_Scorpion/
To hype you even more for your first playthrough, we prepared one more exciting trailer:
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Are You Ready to Conquer Guntama's Roads?
The prologue unveils the mountainous Guntama prefecture, inspired by real-life locations. You'll navigate the treacherous curves of Tengai Forest, race around the serene Haikama Lake, and visit other key locations important to the storyline.
Meet the characters
Immerse yourself in a racing game with a rich narrative, presented through manga pages that bring our characters to life.

However, this remains a game about racing. Drift and grip events featured throughout the playthrough will drive the heroes' story forward. In addition to Hatori, players will meet an ensemble of side characters who will play important roles in the rise of the Scorpion.
 • Aoi Ishida is a girl from a traditional family who has known Hatori since they were children. When they start dating, she supports him in every way she can, especially on the track.
 • Ayumi Kurama is a rich girl raised by a single father who fulfills her every financial whim. She is successful in everything she does, including drifting. However, if victory is at stake, her friendship with Hatori may be at risk.
 • Satoru Hayashi very quickly becomes Scorpion’s main rival. He is cheerful and reckless, but his family is poor, so he does not feel like a part of his school. Satoru’s car belonged to his uncle, a famous drifter.
 • Kaori Kato is Aoi’s best friend. This artistic girl works at a nearby paint shop. Independent and progressive, she always supports Aoi, even if she believes Hatori isn't a good boyfriend.
Race like never before in story events
We prepared a few different types of races with unique narratives for you. Test your skills and learn more about Hatori and his rivals. You can look forward to a variety of thrilling events, among others:
Drift Races: Master the Art of Drift
Earn points by conquering challenging corners in:
 • Race with Ayumi - Challenge your rich friend, known for her style and precision. Outscore her in drift points, push your limits, and demonstrate perfect car control to leave Ayumi far behind.
 • Touge Friends - Compete against your friends where precision, technique, and style matter. Show off your skills and car control on the twisty mountain tracks, earning drift points along the way.
Grip Races: Be the Fastest to the Finish Line
Outrace your opponents and claim victory in:
 • Race with Satoru - Challenge your main rival and be the first to cross the finish line. This race is not only a matter of honor but also a battle to uphold the Hasashi family’s good reputation.
 • Race for a Date - Outperform your rival to win the heart of Aoi. Show your skills, be fast, decisive, and reliable. Victory in this race means not just winning, but also the chance for a special date with Aoi.
