Get Ready for Rift-Ception

[h2]Locate the Interdimensional Hotspots[/h2][p][/p][p]You're back for another game feature update! Thank you for joining us again as this week we're diving into interdimensional travel in Hazard Levels and how you locate rifts. These interdimensional hotspots are located at Blackmoore Industries and it's up to you and your team to infiltrate and navigate the facility - which you can do in both first and third person! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There are numerous gadgets that you'll need to take advantage of to navigate efficiently. Use your state-of-the-art Rift Scanner to locate these rippling anomalies by paying attention to the device's radar style tracking screen. The scanner also highlights other notable items and pick-ups in the area - but more on those in a future game feature update. Once you've located the rift you'll need to open it in order to gain access to the other dimensions, your Rift Stabilising Device is capable of doing just that.[/p][p][/p][p]The Rift Stabilising Device needs to be dropped near a located portal to activate it and allow yourself and your teammates to travel to other dimensions. Whilst inside there will be opportunities to delve even deeper inside the rifts, unlocking better rewards but also more difficult challenges. With every successful run you complete, the further you'll be able to travel. [/p][p][/p][p]We're calling this...rift-ception. [h2]The Deeper the Rift, The Stranger it Gets[/h2][p][/p][p]You've read the news that Hazard Levels is changing. If you haven't, we highly recommend you check out our previous news post. Ahead of our upcoming new trailer, we wanted to share some of the features of the game! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In Hazard Levels, your goal is to locate unstable interdimensional rifts and survive the threats within. Play solo or team up with up to three friends to tackle the horrors of each rift. These rift dimensions are procedurally generated so no two runs will be the same. Each playthrough contains shifting layouts and possible threats around every corner. [/p][p][/p][p]The deeper the rift, the stranger it gets. Navigate and survive dimensions thick with fungus growths, oozing cosmic parasites and glacial landscapes rife with stalactites. When teaming up coordination will be the key and survival is never guaranteed. [p][/p][p][/p][h3]Hazard Levels is changing.[/h3][p][/p][p]It's been pretty quiet from us for a while, and we wanted to explain why.[/p][p][/p][p]Over the last few months our core six-person dev team (we've grown, hurrah!) has been prototyping, testing and reworking the game behind the scenes. After playing it ourselves and running small pre-alpha tests, we came to a simple conclusion: it was not as fun as it should be.[/p][p][/p][p]When we first announced Hazard Levels, a lot of people assumed it was a shooter. That was on us. The early direction leaned too heavily into that space, and it was not quite landing how we wanted. The core idea was always about surviving unstable rifts with friends, but the way we were presenting it blurred that. So, we’ve done something about it.[/p][p][/p][p]Hazard Levels is still a 1–4 player co-op survival horror. That has not changed. What has changed is the feel of it. We are focusing much more on physics, creative survival tools and unpredictable moments between players, rather than traditional gunplay.[/p][p][/p][p]In fact, for now, there are no guns.[/p][p][/p][p]Instead, the emphasis is on tension, coordination, strange utility devices and systems that create chaos in ways we think are more interesting and more “us”. It is still horror. It is still dangerous. But it is less about aiming down sights and more about surviving the situation you have put yourselves in.[/p][p][/p][p]We want the game to feel intense, slightly absurd at times, and genuinely fun to play with other people. This was not a quick decision. It meant reworking parts of the game and admitting that our first pass was not hitting the mark. But we would rather do that now than push forward with something we are not fully confident in.[/p][p][/p][p]We have a brand-new trailer to share soon, and more details on our Early Access roadmap.
