Builders of China - Devlog #16 - "People, people, people..." #2

Hello Builders!
We're back with some awesome concept arts showcasing your future subjects!
In the previous devlogs we've showcased some of the designs for the people from higher spheres that you will surely have the chance to meet while playing Builders of China. You will not, however, be surrounded only by people coming from the high class and other aristocrats. Normal people, villagers and citizens are the soul of the nation and without them you will amount to nothing. Winning their acceptance and trust will be the key to creating a great Empire!

People are different - that's something we all know from the real life and we're sure to include different variations of NPCs in the game. Some of them might be more scrawnier looking while other perhaps like to eat a bit more than the others. All of them are instrumental in the process of construction of your Empire. As you can see we're aiming for specific design style and we hope you'll like the direction in which we're going. As you might imagine what you will see in the game will be based on artworks just like those we're presenting above.

We also hope to properly emulate the spirit and atmosphere of the times while accentuating our stylistic choices. Fun looking characters invoking happiness just by looking at them running around the village will be clothed appropriately and will live in specific buildings that will also thematically fit together and create a coherent entirety. We'll be happy to present you with the effects of our labour and we'd appreciate all your comments in that regard!

Thank you for checking in with us - make sure to wishlist the game and see you in the next devlog!

Best regards,
Builders of China Team

Builders of China - Devlog #15 - "Hustle of a daily life"

Hello Builders!
Life in the Empire can be quite colourful!
Last time we had fun sharing some screenshots from the game with you - keep in mind that those were the still work-in-progress kind of designs - and this month we would love to showcase some of the concept arts that we are working on! Those images you see on your screen right now will help us set the right tone and create the appropriate atmosphere for the game - we base our further decisions on the creation of similar artworks that is why they are extremely important for us and we often spend more than few days on revisions and improvements.

The images look pretty - and they really are - but they're not just for admiring purposes but also for making sure that we have it all under control and we all know in which artistic direction we are heading.

On those two screenshots you can see different places. The first one showcases the peasant district in a city. As you might imagine it's full of bustle and colours giving it the vibe of being alive and energetic. That is correct for the place and as we imagine it - who knows how many different discussions and chats have happened here?

The second artwork showcases fishing district - while still being architecturally speaking busy it is quite more peaceful and deliberate in its reception. The colour of the water, not fighting for the attention but simply signalizing the natural flow of the waters symbolizes the harmony and order. As fisherman gather here to start their day and commence their work they will definitely enjoy the area in which their endeavours take place...

Builders of China - Devlog #14 - "Beginning of the city"

Hello Builders!
Our work on the game gains momentum and we'd love to share with you some early images from the game!
The village at night looks rather lovely - the colourful lanterns fill the space with kind warmth, ready for villagers to come and enjoy their evening while eating a tasty supper, regaining the vitality and vigour necessary for the next day. It is only the beginning of their adventure, the Empire is always calling for more and they know that only with their gathered forces will they be able to not only construct but maintain a fascinating ancient city.

They have the luck to live in a beautiful area - with a mesmerizing river flowing to their side and picturesque trees in full bloom they know that life is good under the rule of the current Emperor. Surely, the Mandate of Heaven is safe in his hands as they've been enjoying the hospitality of nature and can focus on other endeavours - architecture, art or poetry. Or they can simply sit at the riverside and enjoy the view!

Of course there are also their duties waiting to be fulfilled, their workplaces ready to receive and welcome them with the sense of familiarity. So many places will be full of everyday's noise and clamour so normal for another fantastic day in the Empire...

Do keep in mind that our work is on-going - the buildings might receive different shape and the final look of the game might different from what we're presenting you at the moment. Nonetheless, we're doing our best to create an amazing game for you!

Make sure to wishlist the game! See you in the next devlog!

Builders of China - Devlog #13 - "Your thoughts, our menu"

Hello Builders!
This time we've a question that we'd like to ask you!
As you can see in this particular devlog - we've recently been working on the main menu of the game. We have many ideas for that particular element of the game and we wanted to reach out to you and ask whether you have a favourite from the concepts we've already prepared. As we value your voice and always love to communicate with you we're happy to have this option and hear your opinion.

There are three options that we are presenting you with at the moment however as we work on the game it is possible that we will also create a different main menu - so if you're not quite on board with any of these your opinion - that's absolutely fine and we urge you to let us know about it. The more we know the more we can improve and create something perhaps better!

Nonetheless when creating the menu screens we were doing our best to make sure that the appropriate spirit and atmosphere of the game will be visible and could be felt just by looking at the menus. In a way it can be a face of the game! If you also believe that some of the options that we've presented looks nice but you would add something to make it even better - make sure to let us know about it!

Below you'll find a link to a very short survey that will help us with the decision making and will allow you to let us know about your feelings. We hope you'll spare us a moment and submit it! Thank you!

Builders of China - Devlog #12 - "People, people, people..."

Hello Builders!
Let's focus on people - those that will help you, work for you but also demand from you!
No Empire can exist without people. No matter if we're talking about workers, officials, aristocracy - people are the most important part of every country. In this particular devlog we'll be happy to show you some of the faces that you will most definitely see in the game. Take a look at those that will become a part of your journey in Builders of China.

Of course, we cannot start any other way but with Emperor. A central figure of the empire, a person that is the most important and that one can fear and respect at the same time. It will be him that will assign different tasks to you. It will also be him that will either reward or punish you depending on the results of your endavours. Generally speaking - his words do carry a certain power and authority that shouldn't be underestimated.

An older and kinder official will be there to help you in your quests. He might have a great advice for you making it easier to progress or bring you some comfort in the more difficult moments. You're not alone, you see, there is always someone who will try to bring you up and help! And in this case an experienced helper is worth his weight in gold!

Of course there is much more people in the Empire and you might also see different aristocrats and officials during your playthrough. Those might simply wander the areas of your cities minding their own business but you should always heed their voices and check whether they are living comfortably or perhaps are not satisfied with how things are going.

Many people in the Empire and only one you - we're however sure that you will succeed!
