Hey everybody! We hope you all had a lovely festive period and are staying safe this winter!

For our 6th regular update we have concluded our Trivia Snowdown winter event and must sadly say goodbye to our Vs Boss mode - but not for long! Due to the exceptionally positive feedback the mode has received we have decided to make it a permanent feature, and we will be reimplementing the Vs Boss mode over the next week, alongside making Trivia Tricks DRM-free!

Thank you to everybody who took part in the event and for all the helpful feedback kindly given to create a better co-op experience. Over the next couple of releases we will be looking into:

• Better ways to communicate and share what you think is the correct answer with the lobby without having to use the chat box.
  
• Being free to veto categories against a Boss character.
  
• Making Boss characters more lively with a bit more personality.
  
• AI balancing and difficulty adjustments.
  
• Adding Achievements and cosmetics to reward beating Bosses.
  
• Other, smaller design feedback we have received in testing.
  

These changes and updates will be delivered regularly to meet our first goal on our roadmap towards leaving early access.

[h3]The Trivia Snowdown event is over![/h3]

• The Festive category has been removed and questions migrated where suitable
  
• The Festive items have been removed from the shop for players that did not buy or earn them. Feel you missed out? Don't worry! There's always next year!
  
• The stage has been reverted to a pre-Festive state
  
• Players will no longer earn cookies after a game
  
• The Vs Boss mode has been temporarily hidden while we unbuckle it from the holidays
  
• The game will no longer wish players happy holidays on boot, but everybody still gets their Santa Hats!
  
• Once again, thank you for your feedback during this time and helping shape Trivia Tricks!

• The The following categories have been significantly expanded for questions - Anime, Art & Literature, Film & TV, Language, Music, Science, and Video Games
  
• The following categories feature additional questions - Animals, Food & Drink, Geography, History, and Sports
  
• Fixed many question typos (Thank you to all of you for reporting these!)
  
• We would like to thank the Discord community for their question suggestions over the last week and you can now find these questions in-game!

• Fixed an issue in the lobby settings where the lobby rules could be adjusted as the game was starting
  
• Fixed an issue in the lobby settings where the ‘Streak’ text did not highlight when hovered
  
• Fixed an issue in the lobby settings where the tickboxes were not highlighting on hover in all appropriate states

Hello Trivia Fans and happy new year!

Our fifth regular update just dropped which adds several hundred questions, taking the Trivia Tricks total to over 4,500! We have also improved our internal process for vetting new question additions, so you should notice a quality improvement going forward!

We have been closely observing player feedback on Trivia Snowdown's temporary 'Vs Boss' mode and we'll be making our design takeaways from this experiment public next week. One bit of feedback we've already taken into account with todays update - the difficulty of both Santa and Krampus has been reduced! So if you felt they were a little bit too hard before then now's the time to give it another shot! Remember, you have until the 7th January to collect all the festive cosmetics and that includes the Santa's Suit and Krampus' Horns!

[h2]Sneak Peak, Question Bot's Around the Corner![/h2]

We believe the best way of ensuring a diverse question database is by collecting input from as many members of our community as possible. You may recall us mentioning that we had been investigating methods to ensure our question database can be driven by our users. After experimenting, we've concluded the best means of achieving this would be a Question Bot in our Discord.



Question Bot will be your one hub for question suggestion, and will even let you know if they've been approved for inclusion in Trivia Tricks! As an extra bonus, your name will be shown in-game alongside your question!

Question Bot needs a little more time in the oven, but we're hoping he'll be available to you all in the next couple of weeks. You may have already noticed the in-game pointers we added in preparation for the big launch!

To be clear, this doesn't impact our Early Access Milestone of Workshop support. We're committed to having Trivia Tricks' content be community-led and Workshop support is a core component of that goal.

Trivia Tricks is getting in the holiday spirit with a limited time co-op trivia game mode! Do you and your friends know more about the holidays than the big man himself? Team up, take him on, and win cookies to spend on festive cosmetics!

We've also got a new 'Festive' trivia category, and of course a stage (And host!) makeover! Make sure to spend those cookies as soon as you can, as the event will be ending on the 7th January!

  - When against Santa or Krampus most questions will be from the 'Festive' category

  - You'll find a new page in the statistics menu to track your 'Vs Boss' stats, like 'Wins' and 'MVPs’!
  - Beat Santa to get his world-renowned suit, beat Krampus and earn those sick horns!

  - Added new 'Festive' cosmetics, purchased with cookies!
  - You'll earn more cookies per game the more human players you have on your team
  - Careful! Santa and Krampus play better the more human players they're against! Communicate!
  - Cookies are awarded at the end of regular Trivia games too; more players beaten = more cookies
  - Trivia Tuesday will give DOUBLE COOKIES for both boss and non-boss modes! Yummy!
  - Purchased and earned cosmetics will be available for use after the event is over

  - Adjusted the design of the social media buttons on the main menu
  - Social media buttons are now accessible with both keyboard and controller
  - Discord link now mentions submitting your own questions, follow the Trivia Tricks Steam Group for some exciting news about user-submitted questions coming soon!
  
  
• Other Changes + Bug Fixes
  - Reworded the title on the Character Select Screen
  - Fixed 'Standard' ruleset games being mislabelled as 'Basic' ruleset in the server browser
  - Trivia Tuesday now requires a connection to Steam servers to actually start in-game, so no more changing your system clocks for double money! (We saw ya!!)
  - Fixed an issue where the order the Chance Round balls were initially revealed would match the order that players joined chance round, making the result predictable
  - Fixed case where 'Red Streaks Earned' and 'Blue Streaks Earned' stats were delayed in updating for non-hosts, making achievements like 'Warming Up' and 'Feeling The Heat' take an extra question to unlock
  - Fixed the 'Big Brain' achievement not unlocking for non-hosts
  - We recently fixed an issue stopping Steam Cloud Saves from syncing

[h3]A final note from the developers...[/h3]

The year's end is an appropriate time to reflect on what’s happened and to consider what's around the corner. We've been overwhelmed by the positive player reception we've been receiving and it has been less than 2 months since our Early Access release. We'd like to thank our community for their invaluable feedback, and we are humbled by our audience's growth showing consistent week-on-week momentum.

Our Halloween event was put together in a restless period of just two days (!!), so Trivia Snowdown having two full weeks of development allowed us to be more ambitious. The holidays are a time for banding together and we wanted to create an event in that spirit. Furthermore, it closely matches the goals of our first Early Access milestone – full co-op Trivia. Any feedback we receive on this ‘Vs Boss’ experiment will influence the direction we take ‘Co-op Trivia’, which will be in full development in the new year. Please let us know what you think.

We’re going to be taking a well-deserved rest, but that doesn’t mean we’re done! Next week we’ll be dropping a big question count increase to all categories. Stay tuned!
