Join us for Trivia Tuesdays!

Hey everybody!

It's time for another weekly update! This week our focus was on ensuring solo players are able to find games online while our community is still growing. We fully realise that right now Trivia Tricks is in its infancy and therefore can be a little... empty when you search for online lobbies - especially as a solo player. To help everyone have a chance to connect with other players we're introducing Trivia Tuesdays!

Every Tuesday there will be two time slots where you can earn DOUBLE PRIZE MONEY (wow). We've also permanently added an achievement for taking part in one of these, with a cool Steampunk hat just for playing! We've aimed the two slots to allow players across the world to take part, but we're listening to feedback to adjust them if need be.

Want a reminder? Simply follow the Trivia Tricks Steam Group as we'll posting announcements when the show's about to start!
EU Friendly Time Slot
• 6pm - 7pm GMT (Tues)
 • 1pm - 2pm EST (Tues)
 • 12pm - 1pm CST (Tues)
 • 10am - 11am PST (Tues)
US Friendly Time Slot
• 2am - 3am GMT (Wed)
 • 9pm - 10pm EST (Tues)
 • 8pm - 9pm CST (Tues)
 • 6pm - 7pm PST (Tues)

A big thank you to everybody who has been playing Trivia Tricks and is an early passenger with us on our journey through early access. We hope that this will help you guys out with finding games within the community and reward you for doing so.

Over the next week we're looking into ways to ensure our question database can be driven by our users. Stay tuned!

 • Added the Trivia Tuesday event
 • Play in one of the two timeslots above and earn double money!

Character Select Screen Overhaul

Hi everybody!

Below you will find details of our third weekly update. This week we focused on addressing feedback from our player base regarding usability issues within the Character Select Screen. While Trivia Tricks has extremely flexible play options our playtests and analytics showed us that players were finding the Character Select Screen confusing to navigate. Now, we've redesigned the Character Select screen with a focus on clarity. Hopefully functionality such as joining an online lobby with a local party or leveraging Steam Remote Play Together to play online with a single purchase will be immediately obvious!

Over the next week we’re looking to ensure solo players are able to find games online while our community is still growing. Stay tuned!
Character Select Redesign!
• The character select screen has been totally overhauled!
 • Instead of selecting characters in an 8x2 grid, characters are now selected through a carousel
 • The control options available for the remaining player slots are now clearly displayed
 • On a controller the 'A' button is now be used to join the session instead of the 'Start' button
 • 'Drop Out' no longer requires the player to hold the 'Back' or 'Del' key, just a tap will do
 • The 'Ready' button prompt now displays what key to press to continue
 • The same characters will be preselected upon leaving and re-entering the menu
 • Many, many more improvements to readying up, un-readying, leaving this screen, connecting controllers, button prompt locations, dropping out... too much to list here!
Updates to Question Database
• Fixed case where maths questions with brackets requiring addition followed by subtraction would have an incorrect answer
 • Removed extremely easy maths questions relating to the eleven times tables
 • Fixed a number of typos in our questions (Thank you to all players who reported these!)
Bug Fixes
• Fixed misspelling of the 'Cyclops' item in the Character Creator

Select Your Own Categories & No More Repeats!

Hi everybody!

Below you will find details of our second weekly update. This week we focused on addressing feedback from our player base regarding category customisation and question repetition. Being able to adjust the category presets was our most requested feature and we subsequently made it our highest priority. We hope that following this update you’ll be able to customise Trivia Tricks to suit any player audience!

Additionally, Trivia Tricks now tracks which questions the player has seen to ensure minimal repeats. This system even mixes online players stats together, ensuring the questions are as new as possible for that particular lobby!

Over the next week we’re looking at improving the user interface for adding local players and selecting your character. Stay tuned!
Category Vetoing!
• Players can now veto up to 6 categories
 • Playing with adjusted categories will label the lobby rules and category selection as ‘custom’ in the server browser
 • The existing category presets have been adjusted to accommodate this change
 • As more questions are added we will increase the number of categories players can veto proportionally!
 • The preset categories still have the 25% chance reduction to select the maths category
 • When categories are set to 'custom' however all categories will have an equal chance of being picked
Improvements to Question Variety!
• Trivia Tricks will now track the questions a player has seen and how many times they have been seen it
 • Trivia Tricks then prioritises showing you the questions you have seen the least
 • In an online game all players seen questions stats will be combined, ensuring everybody is seeing as new content as possible to create a level playing field
 • The seen questions are saved to the file located at %LOCALAPPDATA%/TriviaTricks/Saved/SaveGames/QuestionCache.sav
 • This will be synchronized through Steam Cloud
 • This file can be deleted without impacting unlocked cosmetics and player stats (However you will see repeated questions!)
 • Additionally it is no longer possible to get a question from the same category twice in a row
Updates to Question Database
• Heavily expanded the ‘History’ category to feature more questions on Eastern European history, ancient civilisations and the space race!
 • Additional questions in the 'Anime' and 'Geography' categories
 • Fixed a number of typos in our questions (Thank you to all players who reported these!)
Bug Fixes
• Fixed bug where using Q and E on the keyboard would skip over menu options in the Character Creator and Statistics Page if the player had interacted with the Character Select Screen within that session

This week we focused on addressing feedback from our player base about some of the rougher patches in our user experience. We collected this feedback both from direct engagement with fans and observing play session footage. We hope that following this update Trivia Tricks will feel a much more polished experience!

Next weeks update will focus on improvements to Trivia Tricks’ questions, such as giving players better control of category selections and ensuring larger variety to the questions the game selects. Stay tuned!

 • Added a 200 character word limit to the chatbox
 • Removed the right-click context menu from text entry boxes
Bug Fixes
• Fixed bug where Tricksters had a chance of floating over their podiums if you weren't playing with 4 or 8 Tricksters
 • Fix bug where Character Select Screen would display visual glitches if the player had selected 2x FXAA in the options menu
 • Upon failing to join a server players will now be directed back to the online character select screen instead of the offline character select screen
 • Fixed controllers being able to open the ‘Invite Friends’ menu mid-game
 • Fixed the ball machine textures being blurry on low-end machines

 • The stage has been reverted to a pre-Halloween state
 • Players will no longer earn candy after a game
