Palace of Moctezuma II

In this new piece of concept art, we want to show the facade of the palace of Moctezuma II, an architectural complex that the Tlatoani ordered to be built as a residence and seat of government of the city of Tenochtitlan, thus replacing the old palace of Axayacatl and thereby giving life to a glorious government that would end abruptly after the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores to Mesoamerica.

The chroniclers of the time, such as Bernal Díaz del Castillo's, described in detail the palace of Moctezuma II. In the words of Hernán Cortés:

He had his lodgings within the city, such and so wonderful, that it seemed almost impossible to tell the goodness and greatness of them. Therefore, I won’t be able to express something about them, more than that in Spain there is no one similar.

Given that the archaeological evidence is scarce since the Moctezuma palace lies buried in the metropolitan area of Mexico City and that the descriptions of Fray Bernardino de Sahagún would be written several years after the destruction of Tenochtitlan, we took some artistic liberties, supported by Mexica architectural remains of the time, and speculation of how the great palace of Moctezuma II could have been.

Designing Ishbel's character

Today we're excited to show you the first sketches of the clothing for the character that our beloved Ishbel Bautista is going to interpret.

What type of character do you think she is going to play? A goddess? A Mexica? Perhaps a macehual? Let us know in the comments!

Ishbel is the protagonist of the series Hernán, on Amazon Prime, in the main role of Marina "La Malinche". To play this role, she had to undertake several intensive lessons to learn Maya and Nahuatl languages. She also participated in a movie called Fireflies (directed by Bani Khoshnoudi) as Rosy.

We're honored and couldn't be happier to collaborate with such a great actress!

If you missed the chat we had with Ishbel, take a look at it here!

It would help us immensely if you decided to sign up to our Kickstarter campaign.
In order to launch the campaign, we need at least 20k people to register to the page. It literally takes a minute to do so, but it would mean the world to us.

Tetzcotzinco

On the slopes of the Tetzcotzinco hill, there are the impressive archaeological remains of a recreational space that the emperor poet Netzahualcóyotl had created for resting, meditation and pleasure.

It is said that the design was designed by the ruler himself, it included palaces, altars and temples, pools for bathing and a complex system of aqueducts that brought water from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, more than 6 km away. The aqueduct is considered one of the most important hydraulic works from pre-Hispanic times.

The site's historical value lies in its hydraulic system but also in its vast gardens, with stairways, channels and sculptures. It was a center for astronomical observations and for performing of social, political and religious rituals.

The so-called Bath of Xochitl stands out, it is believed to have belonged to the wife of the Poet King. It has a circular font that is accessible by a staircase, with vestiges of the sculptures of frogs still preserved.

The Great Tenochtitlan #2

Here is another update about the biggest and most advanced city in the 15th century. That's right, we're talking about Tenochtitlan!

If you missed the previous posts about it, here they are: #1, #2

The city had a wonderful and well-planned tangle of streets and canals that gave it a mystical (and functional) look.
The streets of Tenochtitlan had sidewalks of rammed earth* for human transit, and some of them had adjacent canals for the transit of canoes that transported and commercialized a lot of different products.

The first main street (and the most used for commercial purposes) was Tlalpan, built by the Xochimilcas as an act of tribute to the Mexica; it started in Xochimilco and ended in Tenochtitlan.
Can you imagine walking through these streets on your way to the great temple?

This is a work in progress, and we would love to hear your opinions about the renders!
Let us know in the comments!
*Rammed earth is a technique for constructing foundations, floors, and walls using natural raw materials such as earth, chalk, lime, or gravel
Become a merchant in our game!
Each NPC will have a different cinematic animation for their purchase sequences, making it unique in the entire open world of Mictlan, something never seen before in Latin America.

Remember that the Pochtecas traded with different types of merchandise and materials.

Would you like your NPC to trade only rare materials like turquoise, obsidian, quetzal feathers and furs?
Or maybe with weapons like bows, macuahuitl, axes and spears?
Or would you rather be a merchant of mystical plants like mushrooms, peyotes, toadskin and tobacco?

The Pochtecas had a complex system of hierarchies that depended on the characteristics of the merchant and their military or nobility alliances. The most important ones were the Teucnehnenqueh or "great merchants", those who made deals with the nobility.
