Shrines Legacy Patch Notes v1.02

[p]The first big patch is here! We fixed a ton of bugs, a few missing descriptions and effects for potions, fixed the pages display, made the diagonal dash attack potion much easier to brew, and much more![/p][p]
Additions:[/p][p]- Credits: Added a new name to the Special Thanks[/p][p]- Treasures: Added a new treasure in the room where Carolyn lives to make getting a certain power easier[/p][p][/p][p]Balancing:[/p][p]- Recipes: Diagonal dash attack potion no longer requires a recipe. If you already started a game it will be automatically added to your file when you load. Removed the recipe bookshelf for it for now since it no longer serves a purpose[/p][p]- Crystal Dungeon / Boss: The core now spawns in a random position inside the arena when appearing instead of staying where it was previously[/p][p]- Potions: Slightly increased the cost of the tonic (5->10) to make it's low price more obviously intentional[/p][p]- Potions: Mobility Potion costs 50 zuell to brew now instead of 100, 1 less cyan jelly, and no longer requires calendula (we will make calendula be used for something else soon). If you already used your calendula, you'll automatically get it back when you load your game in this new version[/p][p]
Bug Fixes:[/p][p]- Potions: Potions with incomplete descriptions / effects are now correct and functional[/p][p]- UI: Page menu now properly lets you display the pages[/p][p]- Canyon Dungeon / Out-of-Bounds: Can no longer fall out of bounds in a very specific spot of the room where you are taught about wind flowers[/p][p]- Galadine Overworld / Out-of-Bounds: Players are no longer set on the wrong elevation after dummy minigame outside Galadine[/p][p]- Crystal Dungeon / Boss: Fixed a bug where the core could spawn out of bounds[/p][p]- Omdale: Fixed an issue where a certain Fella's theme didn't play during his cutscene[/p][p]- Omdale: During the same scene just mentioned, fixed visual jank at the end just before the screen transition[/p][p]- Galadine: Now if you die to the guards minigame, you can retry instead of being forced to reload your save[/p][p]- UI: The Page menu now displays the correct number of pages that can currently be found[/p][p]- Galadine Castle: Fixed some minor tile layering issues in the throne room[/p][p]- Desert Cave: Fixed an issue where you could get hit by a sand whirlpool while opening a treasure and lose control in one of the desert caves[/p][p]- Marsh Overworld: On the room after Omdale, fixed a few trees which weren't solid, and fixed a cave that was missing a shadow under it[/p][p]- Marsh Overworld: On the room before the Marsh, fixed some tiling issues[/p][p]- Marize Overworld: Fixed an minor error where you could stand in a small section of water in the room where you meet the potion character, and fixed a few tiles that were on the wrong layer at the top of this same room[/p][p]- Marize Overworld: Removed a stray collider on the edge of the beach that wasn't supposed to be there in the room before Marize[/p][p]- Yuril Overworld: In the room to the right of Yuril Village, fixed a tree that was appearing through a cliff[/p][p]- Galadine Overworld: On the room with the inn, you can move left and right on the ladders now like many others. You can also cut the grass in this room now[/p][p]- Fellinore Overworld: You can cut the grass in the first room now[/p][p]- Localization / Chinese: Updated Potion descriptions and messages when drinking[/p][p]- Localization / Chinese: Fixed some missing localized text and some other small errors and issues with text going outside of the text box[/p][p]- Dialogue / Rio's Cabinet: Fixed a minor grammatical error[/p][p]- Dialogue / Post-game dungeon #2: Fixed the dialogue when you reach the boss to make more sense in context[/p]

MAJOR SAVE ISSUE FIX: v1.01c

[p]This patch is a major issue hotfix for saves being deleted and not saved correctly in some cases on Linux based systems. It also corrects the folder the save games were being stored, which was incorrectly being set to the root folder of the drive due to a coding error.

[/p][h3]Changes[/h3]
  • [p] Save files located in the root of your drive will be automatically migrated from the root folder to %localappdata%/Shrines_Legacy where they were originally intended to be when you first boot up this version of the game
    [/p]
  • [p] Save files are now correctly saved and loaded from %localappdata%/Shrines_Legacy as it was originally intended
    [/p]

[/p][h3]Manual Save Migration Step-by-step (only if you run into issues)[/h3][p]If you load up the game after this patch and you are suddenly looking at incorrect or old save files, you may need to purge your %localappdata%/Shrines_Legacy folder so it can load in the correct saves from where they used to be saved.

Here are some step-by-step instructions on how to do that:

  • [p] Open File Explorer/Windows Explorer
    [/p]
  • [p] Type %LocalAppData% into the address bar and press Enter
    [/p]
  • [p] In the folder that opens, locate the "Shrines_Legacy" folder
    [/p]
  • [p] Remove or rename the Shrines_Legacy folder you just located (recommended to first just rename it to something like "Shrines_Legacy_Old")
    [/p]
  • [p] Re-open the game, it should now correctly migrate over your saves from the root of your drive
    [/p]
  • [p] (Optional) Once you've confirmed the save data is loading correctly in game, feel free to remove the "Shrines_Legacy" folder that was incorrectly saving to the drive root. Or you can back it up somewhere if you think that any save files didn't copy over correctly and might need the files still.

[h3]Extra Instructions for Steam Deck Manual Migration:[/h3][p]Here's some notes specifically for migrating via Steam Deck (thanks to SuperDerek for the info!):[/p]
  • [p]To move the files, you must reboot your Steam Deck into desktop mode from the power menu.[/p]
  • [p]The save file will have to be moved from: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1435410/pfx/drive_c/Shrines_Legacy/[/p]
  • [p]The save file will be moved to: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1435410/pfx/drive_c/steamuser/AppData/Local/Shrines_Legacy/[/p]
  • [p] IMPORTANT: Be sure to make sure that the last modified date reflects the time you last finished playing Shrine's Legacy to avoid losing progress[/p]
  • [p]Basically, Steam and Bazzite create a "C:" drive for compatibility purposes in "~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1435410/pfx/drive_c/", otherwise all the steps should be the same[/p]
[h3]Did you Lose any Save Data?[/h3][p]If you lost a save file while playing previous patch, we understand the frustration and we can't apologize enough! Contact us on Discord or via email and we'll try to get you an approximate save file that's located where you left off at.

[/p][h3]Closing[/h3][p]Hopefully there will be no more major issues with saves from here, but if anyone runs into any more issues we encourage you to leave a comment and/or contact us on Discord so we can try to resolve it.

Shrine's Legacy Has Officially Launched!

[h2]It's Time![/h2][p]After many years of hard work, Shrine's Legacy has finally released on Steam and GOG![/p][p][/p][p]Epic Games Store launch is unfortunately delayed due to still being in review and working out some bugs with achievements. We'll provide more information about this once we know.[/p][p][/p][h2]Localization Info[/h2][p]Chinese localization is available on launch![/p][p]Brazilian Portuguese localization is in development and should be released sometime this week![/p][p]Future localizations such as German are not currently in development but we are keeping them in mind![/p][p][/p][h2]Reviews[/h2][p]If you enjoy your time with the game, consider leaving an early review as it will help our visibility! Steam Chronicle #39: Upcoming Events / Announcements

[p]Behind the scenes, we are working hard to get the game as finished and polished as possible. But I wanted to focus this update on some upcoming events, including an announcement (of an announcement)?![/p][p][/p][h3]Gamescom and PAXWest[/h3][p][/p][p]Our publisher will be taking our game to Gamescom (August 20-24) and PaxWest (August 29-September 1). If you happen to be present at either of these 2 events be sure to say hi to the publisher at the booth, maybe even take a picture, we'd love to see it! As much as we'd love to be able to go to an event in-person again, for now the focus is solely on finishing the game in the best state possible.[/p][p][/p][p]As an aside, we were also recently a part of the Debut Festival, a new steam event made to appreciate developers who are making or who have finished their first commercial project! We even got a cool little badge to show off on our Steam page for it![/p][p][/p][p]Lastly worth mentioning: On August 20th during Gamescom, we'll be releasing a very important announcement about the game. 😉[/p][p][/p][h3]Mapping Progress[/h3][p][/p][p]Beyond that, progress is constantly being made on the game itself!
