After eight years, this Hollow Knight style platformer is finally out

If there's one game we're all waiting on, it's Hollow Knight Silksong. The highly anticipated sequel to 2017's hit Metroidvania has us all on the edge of our seats, hoping and praying that we'll catch a glimpse of the mysterious princess in action, needle-like blade at the ready. With no launch date in sight, though, I've been looking for something equally as creepy to keep me occupied, and new platformer Saviorless is exactly what I've been needing.

Stunning new indie game is like a surreal, dark fantasy Hollow Knight

Blending those stylish 2D action platformer boss fights of Hollow Knight and Blasphemous 2 with a captivating dark fantasy world and hand-drawn animation, Saviorless has very much caught my eye ahead of its imminent release date on Steam. This new indie game from Cuban developer Empty Head Games has an immediately striking look to it, inspired by classic 16-bit aesthetics but with a more realistic twist, and its gorgeous worlds and high-octane boss fights look like a surreal and mystical experience.

Cuban dark fantasy metroidvania Saviorless gets an April release date

If you're fond of the fairly specific blend of doomy theology, rich art direction and Soulslike-tinted metroidvaning encapsulated by Blasphemous, you might also enjoy Saviorless from Cuban team Empty Head Games and publisher Dear Villagers, which now has a PC release date of 2nd April.
