UPDATE 1.06 - BRAKES BURN MORE!

In update 1.06 here I've fixed what I believed was causing a very rare but random lock up while playing the game forcing a hard close of the game. This was due to the game sometimes getting stuck in an endless loop trying to find a free spot to drop a new apple. This update should fix that but PLEASE post here or in the bugs forum if you witness the game just suddenly freezing up with no way to exit the game and requiring a hard close to exit.

I've also made using the brakes much more penalizing. Using the brakes was never intended to be used as an easy "escape death" tool so the consequences of using the brakes now can burn up more of your worm length faster than before.

That's it for update 1.06! ..Just a small little patch to improve the game!

UPDATE 1.05 - Getting Nerm Drunk Is A Good Thing? ...More Steam Achievements!



Hello everyone!

In update 1.05, Nerm just continues to slowly evolve.

- Nerm now has good reason to take a dip into alcohol seen on a few of the levels and get drunk. First of all, more apples fall from the trees when Nerm is drunk. This could be him seeing several images of the same apple because he is so drunk, but they are worth points and growth none-the-less! Also while Nerm is drunk and the air is full of his drunken blur, the alcohol acts as a preservative meaning apples don't spoil as long as Nerm stays drunk! The apples also lose their point value much slower giving you the opportunity to rack up a lot more points.. assuming you can see where you are going that is!

- It should be a little easier with this update to catch falling apples as Nerm can now catch the apples when they are still just a little in the air.

- Keyboard and mouse controls are now clearly given on the introduction screen of the game.

- 11 new Steam achievements have been added to the game for advancing to every 5th level the first time and for beating the game (level 50) the first time! This brings the total to 35 Steam achievements and many more are coming in the near future!

UPDATE 1.04 - Speedometer Added + Small Speed Changes!



There's now a new speedometer added to the UI at the top left to show you the speed of Nerm as you move through the levels.

CHANGES MADE TO NERMS SPEED:

Before this update, Nerm would get a big speed burst when eating red or green apples that would slowly dissipate over time. But the problem with this complex system I originally designed was that if you didn't eat a red or green apple for several seconds, Nerms speed would drop and cause his speed to feel sluggish or even like the game was lagging, even though the game wasn't really lagging at all.

With this new update, you simply gain speed for every red apple eaten. You'll get a double gain of speed for every green apple eaten. This higher speed will stay until you eat another apple and will not dissipate over time to prevent the game feeling sluggish at times.

You'll now lose speed when you eat a yellow apple because after all, Nerm finds yellow apples "not so good" as they are actually starting to spoil when they are yellow.

You'll lose even more speed should you swallow a bomb as bombs are even more disgusting to Nerm!

Of course there is a minimum and maximum speed, and the minimum and maximum speeds both slowly increase as you progress through the game and get to higher and higher levels.

I think this patch helps a lot with Nerm sometimes feeling sluggish or even "laggy" when that was never truly the case. It was just that my system was a little too complex for the games own good and this new speed system is much simpler and hopefully will make the game feel better.

More Steam achievements are coming soon.. I'm just working full time and need time to make them all and add them to the game! Also Norma has been pushed back to "hopefully" sometime in December! *crosses my fingers*

UPDATE 1.03 - Very Small Scoring Change

Hello everyone..

Just a small scoring change in this update and nothing more.

Now whenever you exit a room, you'll get double the points as before. So if you have a Streak multiplier, that will still go into play multiplying the double points per length of your snake!

I am going to be adding a lot of new Steam achievements to this game soon.. so keep that in mind as well.
