Early Access Release!

Hi everyone!

I can finally officially say it: WELCOME TO GARLAND!



Moonlight in Garland is officially released into Early Access on Steam and I am so excited to share it and work on it with all you!

To all our new community members: welcome, I hope you enjoy your time in Garland with us! Come say hi in the #cafe and get to know your new neighbors!

To our long term Garland residents: thank you for all of your support in the lead up to EA launch, Garland wouldn’t be what it is without you all!

Usually this is the part that I remind you to wishlist lol but… now you can finally go buy a copy and for the first week on top of already being half price during Early Access, there will be an extra 10% off as a Moving in Sale. Think of it as my house warming present to you haha!

Early Access Release!

Hi everyone!

It’s just 7 days until Garland’s Early Access release on Steam! How terrifying and exciting!!

If you haven’t already, now is an extremely good time to wishlist.

For launch week there will be a 10% off Moving In Sale! This is a once only discount (on top of the already discounted Early Access Price) to thank everyone for sticking with me this far!

To celebrate the launch I’m going to hold a special stream party on Twitch. I’ll show some of the history of Garland, you can see behind the scenes of early versions and then when at launch time we’ll celebrate together! The stream will start at 12:30PM AEDT 24th October, check your timezone here.

If you’re looking for other ways to support Garland, the best thing you can do is tell someone about it and invite them to give the demo a try!



**Game Update!**
Thank you SO much everyone who’s been testing you’ve all been so amazing helping me catch bugs before the launch. You’ve probably seen me pushing out updates every few days and that will continue this week so keep sending me anything you find and I’ll add to the priority list!

Sooooo… this will probably be my last announcement before release day so I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in the community. You’ve been here over the last few years watching Garland grow through the good times and the bad ones just like a real city. We’ve weathered big things and small, found real friendships, supported each other and grown as a community together. As a first time dev this has all been uncharted territory for me and I'm excited to grow with you.

It makes me so happy to know that no matter how launch goes, I’ll be able to grab a cup of tea and hang out here together will you all as neighbors.

Moving to Garland - MIGW 2023 Dev Stream

Hope you’re all having a lovely morning!

🎉🎉🎉 Melbourne International Games Week🎉🎉🎉

I'm so excited that Garland has been included in the #MIGW23 Steam Festival as part of @GamesWeekMelbs! AAAAH!!! It’s a big milestone because the EA release date is also up on Steam now too but I'll do a separate post about that later.

Between 21- 28 Sept there are sales, demos and talks from heaps Victorian devs (including me!!)! There are so many amazing games there so go have a look and play all the demos: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/migw2023

Garland’s demo will also be available again on Steam during the festival and I’ve recorded a playthrough which will be playing on the main stage several times through the festival. My talk will be on main stage in these slots:

  • AEST: 5am Sept 27th/PDT: 12pm 26th
  • AEST: 1pm Sept 27th/PDT: 8pm 26th
  • AEST: 9pm Sept 27th/PDT: 4am 27th
  • AEST: 1pm Sept 28th/PDT: 8PM 27th

Demo Update!



Hello everyone!

I hope you are having a great week, thanks so much to everyone that has taken time to provide feedback and report bugs! This is just a small patch update with a couple of new settings features.

You can see the full detail of the changes in the changelog here but here are the most important ones:

  • The UI should now scale itself appropriately on larger/widescreen monitors.
  • Settings: World view zoom - Change the size of the game world.
  • Settings: UI view zoom - Change the size of the UI.
  • Fixed some issues with camera use during mini games and cut scenes.
  • A few small fixes with chairs.


Note that the zoom features are still very experimental so if you use them and encounter issues please let me know.

Just a reminder too, if you played through the original demo and experienced the issue with your apartment name not showing on the main save screen, you will need to go to the real estate agent window and re-pick your apartment. All your choices and progress are safe, you just need to reset the apartment choice.

Demo Update!



Hello everyone!

I hope you are having a lovely week. Firstly I just want to say thank you to everyone who played the demo, provided feedback and wishlisted so far! Seeing everyone having fun in Garland has been really motivating and I appreciate the time everyone has taken to provide feedback and report bugs!

This afternoon I've pushed the 1.3.3 update to the free demo of Moonlight in Garland which takes into account some of the feedback and patches a bunch of little bugs.

You can see the full detail of the changes in the changelog here but here are the most important ones:

  • Updated player collisions to automatically free themselves when stuck on an object or NPC.
  • Added a "Exit to apartment" button to the menu as an emergency exit in case you get stuck anyway.
  • Fixed the issue with you current apartment not appearing on the load screen for some players.
    Note - if this happened on your file, you will need to go to the real estate agent window and re-pick your apartment.
  • Added a menu screen when delivering quest items to the recycling bin to prevent accidentally selling your quest items
  • Fixed the issue with some later quests not marking off properly (Meeting Cecile)


I have also updated the wiki with general favorite locations for each NPC in case you have trouble finding them, though this is likely to change over the next few months as I continue development.
