Akatori tales - We need a break

[p]It’s been some time since Master Wei had noticed that Mako and Goro barely see each other. He spends his time at the Lake, Mako roams the grove. And yet a month before they were inseparable. [/p][p]The old Master asks Mako to talk to Goro, and she agrees. Wei is a wise man. It’s always better to have a talk after all. [/p][p]They sit on the stones in the grove as they meet. Mako dangles her leg. “Listen, we have to patch things up. I’m sorry for that thing with Yumi. But there was no need to break my staff, you know?”. Goro stares at the ground. “I think we have to take a break, you know? Especially if a broken stick hurts you so much”. [/p][p]Mako has things to do: workouts, meditations. Let Goro wait. Maybe he’ll even get smarter.[/p][p]

Akatori Dimensions - Behind The Art

[p]The vibrant world that surrounds Mako is one of the most technically complex aspects of Akatori. Behind every location, every corridor or platform Mako passes, there are hours of work and an entire philosophy of our art.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Our primary goal was to demonstrate that the world around the main path is enormous, expanding far beyond the screen. Using exclusively 2D pixel art didn’t work for us, so we decided to take a different approach: to combine 2D and 3D. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
Most environments are composed of 3D models, which helps to create a volumetric view. To make the world expand further than the field of view. The distant backgrounds use a combination of 2D sprites and 3D elements. Some of the close objects in the player's surroundings are also made of 2D sprites with depth simulation achieved through shader effects.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Finally, the sprites are more of a classic technique — the characters are fully animated in 2D.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In combination, these techniques serve our main concept and goal: to showcase these vast spaces, intriguing and mysterious. Every Step Counts — The Movement in Mako’s Journey

[p]Between fierce battles, Mako never truly rests. Every corridor, every gap, every wall is another test — of skill, timing, and rhythm.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Her path winds through narrow stone halls, castles, mines and countless fields of amber spikes. The floor gives way, the air burns, and yet she keeps moving — two jumps, one dash, and a single chance to get it right.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Her wooden battle staff isn’t just a weapon. It’s a lifeline. In her skilled hands, it hooks onto walls, turns a fall into flight, and transforms the environment itself into a worthy ally.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Each arena or scene is a puzzle of motion: a beautiful dance between danger and precision. Think fast. Move faster. The Forces of Amber — Humanoid Enemies

[p]The world of Akatori is full of surprises - from dangerous creatures lurking in the shadows to the unpredictable, eerie power of the Amber and the twisted results of its corruption.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Some of the enemies you can meet on your way were once humans. Drowners and Amber Zombies barely resemble what they used to be. Only the silhouette is a reminder of their original nature. Their twisted bodies spit a venomous mass that carries the corruption of Amber, whenever a living being passes nearby. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
The Soldiers, corrupted by Amber and forever lost to its Curse, shoot at anything moving around. So jump carefully. One bad timing and you are falling into the abyss.[/p][p][/p][p]You may think it’s easy to fight with such enemies.
