Dev Log #063: 2023-06-02

This week, we continued to optimize and adjust the UI and content, aiming to enhance the user experience. We improved the Holy Monk, adjusted NPCs, and fixed some bugs.

We gave the character selection interface a complete makeover to make it appear more concise.



We added an 800x600 resolution option to accommodate different configurations. Interested users can adjust it as needed.



We significantly changed a core mechanism, primarily enhancing the strength of capturing leader NPCs in the Tang Monk Pokémon faction. The following adjustments were made:
  • The Fallen Monkey General’s "Retreat and Avoid" is now an AOE move.


  • After being captured and released as teammates by the Holy Monk, some Boss NPCs will no longer use certain moves on the player's side:
    • Spider Queen: Will no longer use Spider Descendant move.
    • Skeleton Queen: Will no longer use Soul Hunter move.
    • The Bull King: Will no longer use the Bull King's Roar intent.
    • The Fallen Monkey General: Will no longer use True Star-Shifting move.
  • These changes make the Boss NPCs less vulnerable on the player's side. Additionally, NPCs summoned now immediately have moves, greatly increasing the strength of the “Pokémon” Holy Monk. Compared to before, when the summoned NPC had to wait for a turn to act, this improvement is substantial. However, please note that enemy summoned minions will also take action in the current round.



[h2]Other optimizations[/h2]
  • Improved tutorials in the game.
  • Increased Sand Monk's turn element limit to 49.
  • Optimized effect loading.
  • Adjusted the order in which Faithful Devil obtains Overload from attack cards.
  • The Black Market Merchant will no longer give the Holy Monk Evil Barrier when leaving.


[h2]Bug fixes[/h2]
  • Avoid duplicated NPC with the same type when you resurrect NPCs.
  • Fixed an issue where character toolip were obstructed in the compendium.
  • Resolved issues with intent overlays.
  • Corrected the error in description for Absorb Strength.
  • Fixed the issue with the effect of Moon Chaser.

This week we added new talents for Wite Dragon and Holy Monk, enhanced some relics and consumables, and fixed a large number of bugs.

The talent of the White Dragon has been greatly revamped, mainly strengthening the general talents of the Dragon Princess’s skills and the usage of Spirit power:
  • Heavenly Tune Scripture Vol.I allows you to have more maneuvering space at the campfire, enabling you to learn new cards and upgrade without ending the process.



  • Heavenly Tune Scripture Vol.II increases fault tolerance in battles. The cards learned by the Dragon Princess will never result in losses. It can help you quickly get started regardless of the build you use.



  • Dragon Spirit Vol.I boldly increases the maximum spiritual power by 3 points. Whether it's a spiritual power build or any other build, if you don't have a good talent to choose, pick this one. It's equivalent to adding a fault tolerance of 3 points and helps you turn the tide.



  • Dragon Spirit Vol.II provides higher benefits the higher your current spiritual power limit is. Even if you haven't increased the spiritual power limit at the campfire, when combined with both volumes, it will still give you max spiritual power of 12 points.



Holy Monk has gained new talents too, corresponding to the Sacrifice Build and Companion Build:
  • Scripture of Cruelty Vol.I increases the maximum HP of all teammates who join your battlefield by 20% in all battles. This allows for higher damage output through sacrifices.



  • Scripture of Cruelty Vol.II grants other teammates an Evil Barrier equal to 20% of their maximum HP when a teammate dies. This greatly enhances the survival ability of the Sacrificebuild. Previously, without talents, they could only rely on inflicting evil to gain Evil Barriers or other survival skills. Now, with the blessing of the new talent, their survival ability is more than enough.



  • The Great Zen Vol.I provides the entire team with a defense equal to 4 times the number of companions at the end of each round, enhancing the survival ability of companions in the early and middle stages. Note that this only applies to companions, not to NPCs summoned through Spirit Pact or consumables.



  • The Great Zen Vol.II reduces the energy cost of all companion cards played for the first time each round by 1. This is equivalent to automatically using a Gold Bulletin each round, so you no longer have to worry about getting stuck with companion cards or not having enough energy to play them.



[h2]Other Optimization[/h2]
  • The Bronze Helmet has undergone numerical balancing. Previously, it provided 8 Block at the end of the round if there was any energy remaining. Now, it provides 6 Block at the end of the round if there is no energy remaining.


  • The Essence of Metal has been strengthened. Previously, it provided 6 Block at the end of the round. Now, it provides 10 Block, making it more practical.



  • In the graphics settings, an option has been added to adjust the quantity of special effects. If you feel that there are too many effects or experiencing lag, you can adjust it according to your preference.



  • Status border color adjustment to improve user experience.
  • Wukong appears as monkey king by default.
  • Remove some unused cards.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fix a freezing bug related to Spirit Caller.
  • Fix the bug that Dragon Princess's learned card might lose Innate keyword after save/load.
  • Fix a bug that Lady Green's Scale removes after Block breaks.
  • Fix a plot bug when Divine of Justice survived the final combat of Heaven.

This week, we made a lot of optimizations to the UI, modified Wukong's new talent, balanced the health talents of all characters, added the option to use the classic card art of Wukong, White Dragon, and Holy Monk in the Creative Workshop, and fixed numerous bugs.

The most important adjustment this week is the rework of Wukong's talent tree, enhancing the Burning Build and Defensive Build for Wukong.
  • Fire Storm Vol.I allows the stacking of the burning counter on the target at a faster rate, combined with the Monkey King’s Roar of the Great Sage doubling the effect, it simply melts away the enemy.


  • Fire Storm Vol.II further intensifies the burning effect, causing the target to be ignited and simultaneously burning away one random positive status of oneself. This talent proves to be highly beneficial when facing many late-game NPCs.


  • Defensive Tactics Vol.I the tolerance of the Escaping Flow, eliminating worries about negative effects like poisoning and corrosion that cannot be defended with evasion, greatly improving survival ability.



  • Defensive Tactics Vol.II significantly increases all non-attack damage, doubling the damage of techniques such as Diverting Attention, Borrowing Strength, and Striking First, making the arrival of decisive blows quicker.



In addition, both volumes of the Health Spell of all characters have been enhanced.



You can now remove Omen curse card in the “Cleasing Spring” event in Chapter 3.



When Faithful Devil meets the Swing King NPC, his HP is 100% instead of 50%.



Added a screen shake toggle in the menu, allowing players who find the screen shake excessive to disable it.



Some players gave feedback expressing their preference for the original card art. Therefore, we have added the Creative Workshop, where you can switch to the original card art of Wukong, White Dragon, and Holy Monk.



[h2]Other Optimization[/h2]
  • The Q key on the keyboard can be used to activate the special ability buttons of the characters: White Dragon's spirit power, Faithful Devil’s summoning of fairies, and Swine King’s Devour.
  • Dismiss consumable menu when using cards to avoid some UI glitches.
  • Add pop up text for Evil Barrier.
  • Optimize effect for Staff of Nine Rings.
  • Tooltips for ability button and end turn button.
  • Add the reason why Divine of Justice cannot be targeted by single target skill when his third eye is open.
  • Adjust hero detail page in compendium.
  • Remove unused cards.
  • Optimize camera shake.

  • Fix a rare bug about reincarnation elixir.
  • Fix rendering bug of compendium cards in combat.
  • Fixed an Android simulator bug.

This week, we made a lot of adjustments and optimizations on team combat logic and UI, made adjustments on many cards and fixed a lot of bugs. The main adjustments include:

[h2]Adjustment to the combat logic[/h2]

The team limit has been increased to 6 members. This change greatly enhances the Monkey King’s Hair team, Holy Monk’s “Pokémon” team, and Faithful Devil’s Spirit team, as well as provides more options for team building.


The number of companions recruitable at the campfire and in shops has increased to 5, offering more choices.



Now, it is allowed to have 2 hero companions appear simultaneously in the same team, expanding the team selection.



[h2]UI Optimization[/h2]
Based on everyone's feedback, we continue to adjust the battle UI and optimize the interface. We have adjusted the brightness and saturation of the battle scenes to make them appear softer overall.



We have optimized the icons, fonts, and layout of enemy intentions, making them more concise and easy to identify.



We have also adjusted the highlight border color when selecting cards, and finally, we have optimized some special effects.



[h2]Key Adjustments on Cards and Relics[/h2]
  • Hair Armor now applies 1 energy absorb and the energy absorb will be removed after upgrade.
  • Best Practice now takes effect during the current turn instead of the second turn, allowing for more flexible cost management.
  • Expose Weakness enegy cost changed from 0 to 1, rarity changed to rare and removed exhaust keywords
  • Faithful Devil’s element count is now unlimited during the turn, but will reset to 9 after the turn.
  • Remade Sacrifice Others: changed to convert all current elements into the specified element, and with each conversion, you gain a defense of 5/7. This allows for smoother transitions during the early to mid-game, avoiding situations where the required element level is too low.
  • Large Hair Potion can now summon 5 little monkeys instead of 4.
  • Iron Breaking Scroll now applies 1 Rupture instead of 2 Rupture.




[h2]Other Optimization[/h2]
  • Furnace of Heaven can be triggered multiple times each turn.
  • Exquisite Tower Skill of Champion of Heaven only lasts 1 turn.
  • Remove restriction for Monkey King's Heart Protector to appear.
  • Best Practise will take effect from current turn.
  • Optimize a few effects.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fix loading of a shapeshifted Feather Blade will cause the damage count to be lost.
  • Fix description bug of Green Snake Scale.
  • Fix description text of a few companions are overlapping with each other.
  • Fix the missing Harpy model when using Transmutation.
  • Correct the image of Rough Kingdom Event for Faithful Devil.
  • Fix Golden Wings will affect Golden Roc.
  • Fix description of Steady card.
  • Fix a bug that Draw Count and Max Hand Size does not reset in endless mode.
  • Fix a bug that companion failed to join team when your team is full.
  • Fix crash when Dragon Princess learns Spirit Devil skill.

Adding the drag view function to make the combat view more flexible and avoid obstruction. Drag the perspective for the combat scene by holding right click (PC) / two finger pan (mobile).
