Dev Log #019: 2022-07-17

After we released Final Chapter: Heaven for beta testing last week, we received a lot of suggestions from the community, and we are polishing it accordingly. This week, we are implementing the 2nd storyline: Soul Mountains, working on building mod tools, as well as balancing and bug fixes.

As we are struggling with funding, we are planning to launch crowdfunding campaigns (e.g. Kickstarter, Patreon) to find new funding sources to support our development of new characters (Swine King and Faithful Devil) and card redesign project. We will share more details soon!

[h2]Chapter 4 Update[/h2]
  • We are implementing the Soul mountains storyline, adding performance, special effects, and sound effects
  • Added background music for Elite and Boss combats, and working on ending scene music
  • Added lost scenes for chapter 4
  • Polished Heaven storyline, reduced the overall difficulty for final boss combat, and adjusted skills and attacks to improve playability
  • Added localization for both English and Chinese and added missing titles to improve user experience

  • We are working on a Mod uploading UI for users to upload Mod materials to the Unity workshop

  • Hotkeys: we are implementing the hotkeys to optimize in-combat experiences
  • Profiling: We fixed a potential memory leak issue from game profiling analysis to solve the gameplay latency problem
  • Added a story test tool to enable better plot testing

[h2]Balance and Improve[/h2]
  • Now the High Taoist god does not give curse cards when disabled
  • Added companions for chapter 4 camp and merchant
  • Jade Emperor now commands teammates to perform intents after 5 attack cards
  • Jade Emperor now does not attack before the first turn
  • Increased the HP recovery of Lotus Platform to 3
  • Give each character in chapter 4 a stealable item

  • Fixed a bug that Water Shield sound effect does not stop when Carp King is defeated
  • Fixed a couple of localization and story text issues
  • Fixed Spider Convex Hull update bug
  • Fixed a set of effects bugs for chapter 4
  • Fixed a bug in the chapter 4 plot which would cause game to freeze

Dev Log #018: 2022-07-10

This week, we released Final Chapter: Heaven for Beta testing! Please send us feedback and suggestions as we are working on polishing this storyline.

Final Chapter: Heaven Storyline is available for Beta Testing!
Make sure to switch to the “pre-release- Release Candidates” branch to test (currently in Simplified & Traditional Chinese only, and we are working on the English version for plots).



You will face the four generals guarding the Gate of Heaven in elite combat, and later face The Jade Emperor and his powerful team in the final combat. Based on your encounter before, you might be able to collaborate with both the Divine of Justice and Fallen Monkey General to take revenge and destroy Heaven!


Introducing new features
  • Moral Status: Good, Evil, or Neutral
    • We added a system to count how many “Good” choices and “Evil” choices you made during your journey from chapters 1-3 and will determine the character’s Moral Status when finishing up Chapter 3:
      • Good: Good Points > Evil Points AND Good Points >=5
      • Evil: Evil Points >= Good Points AND Evil Points >=5
      • Neutral: not Good nor Evil
  • How to earn Good Points?
    • Earn 5 Good Points for each Hostage saved
    • Earn 1 Good Point when making good choices in events or encounters (e.g. save or help people)
  • How to earn Evil Points?
    • Earn 5 Evil Points for drinking Demon Blood (special relic)
    • Earn 1 Evil Point when making Evil choices in events or encounters (e.g. kill, rob, or steal from innocent people)
  • You can check out your moral status by clicking on the profile picture of the hero, and we will add more guidance and in-game notification about good or evil choices.
  • Multiple plot-based triggers: each character will trigger different plots and conditions to enter the Heaven Storyline after encountering Divine of Justice at the end of Chapter 3:
    • Wukong can enter Heaven Storyline with Good or Evil moral status
    • White Dragon can enter Heaven Storyline regardless of Good, Evil, or Neutral
    • Holy Monk can enter Heaven Storyline with Good or Neutral moral status
  • Based on your moral status and previous encounters, you will learn about the final fate of heroes, key characters, and the truth about the blood comet


*Please note that we are still testing and polishing this new system, plots, and NPCs, so the conditions above are subject to change.

Dev Log #017: 2022-07-04

This week, we continue working on chapter 4 development, optimization performance, and fixing bugs. We are also making good progress on the card redesign project.

[h2]Chapter 4 Update: [/h2]
  • We are on track to release internal testing for Heaven storyline (chapter 4);
  • We continue working on testing, adjusting, and polishing NPC skills and battle logics, and implementing Soul Mountains storyline.
  • We added a significant amount of music, sound effects, and animations for chapter 4 NPCs.
  • New Heaven Gate Combat background
  • Final defeated scene - The High Buddha
  • Jade Emperor skill preview!


[h2]Card visual redesign[/h2]
Based on feedback from our community, we are remaking ALL cards with a cleaner UI design (clear differentiation among card types and rarity) and more visualized card icon to differentiate each card.

This is a huge effort (close to 500 cards) and we will not roll them out to the public branch until we have finished all existing cards. Stay tuned with the latest working progress!

[h2]Bug Fixes and optimization[/h2]
Localization and text bug fixes:
  • Added a gameplay control panel under “Settings”, under which you can check the “Remind Talent Nodes” option on and off. We will add more control options in the future for better user experience.

Dev Log #016: 2022-06-26

This week, we continue working on chapter 4 development, optimal performance, and fixing bugs.

Workshop Update:
  • We finished the preparation of Steam Workshop support; will be working on a system providing the MOD modification and uploading functionalities. We don’t have a clear timeline of when to open the Steam workshop since most of our effort is still on developing and optimizing the Chapter 4 contents.


Chapter 4 Update:
  • We finished all character design and storyline for Heaven in Chapter 4, and we are working on testing, adjusting, polishing NPC skills and battle logic, and implementing other storylines.
