Together with Pegasus Spiele, we wanted to create a version that makes it easier to take Dorfromantik with you – whether you’re traveling, visiting friends, or just want a quick round without a big setup. You can find the game directly at Pegasus Spiele.[/p][p][/p][h3]Why we made the Light Luggage Edition[/h3][p]When we first brought Dorfromantik to the table as a board game, we were amazed by the love it received – even being honored as Germany’s Game of the Year 2023. Many of you told us how much you enjoy the calm, cooperative feeling of building landscapes together.[/p][p]At the same time, we often heard the wish for a more compact version: something lighter, quicker to set up, and easier to carry along. That’s why we worked on the Light Luggage Edition.[/p][p]Compared to the original:[/p]

• [p]It comes in a smaller box with fewer components, so it’s easier to take with you.[/p]
• [p]The setup and playtime are shorter, making it a good introduction for new players.[/p]
• [p]Despite being compact, it still includes unlockable content for replayability.[/p]

[p]The original game remains the more complete experience with longer sessions, more variety, and the bigger campaign. The Light Luggage Edition is our way of making Dorfromantik accessible in a different context: smaller, quicker, and hopefully just as cozy.[/p][p][/p][h3]About[/h3][p]This version offers a quick and easy introduction to the high-score hunt. Dorfromantik – Light Luggage is a cooperative tile-laying game. Work together to create a beautiful world of hexagonal landscapes and earn as many points as possible. Institutions like our home university HTW Berlin are shaping the next generation of game creators and proving how powerful public education can be for the creative industries.[/p][p][/p][p]... speaking of ...[/p][p][/p][h3]Noteworthy German Indie Studios[/h3][p]We’d love to highlight some incredible German developer projects that we truly admire—starting with WANDERBURG and the fantastic team at Randwerk. This is one of the most exciting indie projects we’ve seen in a long time. Wanderburg is a minimalist open-world roguelike set in a fascinating ecosystem of castles on wheels. Consume, grow bigger, upgrade your modules, and survive! Unlock new weapons, build your castle, and explore a procedurally generated map filled with opportunity and danger. It’s bold, fresh, and full of style.[/p][p]Another game close to our hearts is Thronefall, a minimalist game about building and defending your little kingdom. GrizzlyGames stripped a classic strategy game from all unnecessary complexity, combining it with some healthy hack and slay. In Thronefall, you build up your base during the day, and defend it til your last breath at night.[/p][p]From the creator of SUMMERHOUSE comes the brand new game SLOTS & DAGGERS - a compact retro-fantasy roguelike where battles play out on a slot machine. Arm yourself to the teeth and set out on an adventure across strange and dangerous lands, where every spin could be your last![/p][p]Next up is REKA, a cozy and atmospheric witchcraft adventure. Build your chicken-legged hut, gather herbs in autumnal forests, and uncover the mysteries of Baba Jaga. We’re especially excited to follow this one—not least because the team studied at HTW Berlin, just like we did.[/p][p]For the automation fans in our community, we'd like to recommend shapez. shapez is a minimalistic factory building game about the automation of shapes through extraction and satisfying production lines. Last August, the successor, shapez 2, was released. With the second part of shapez, you get the chance to build huge space factories. Tackle increasingly complex automation challenges at your own pace – you won’t have to worry about enemies.[/p][p]Our fellow-developers of Gentle Troll Entertainment introduce us to the world of Tavern Talk. A cozy visual novel about running a tavern in a Dungeon and Dragon-inspired fantasy. New up in the universe is the title Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker. Meet adventurers, gather rumours and mix fate-altering drinks to stop dreams from twisting into nightmares.[/p][p]And finally, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, the thrilling follow-up to Lonely Mountains: Downhill by Megagon. Crash again and again until you master the mountain. Now with 2–8 player cross-platform multiplayer: descend the slopes together or go all-out in a race to the base. Fast, fun, and beautifully chaotic.[/p][p][/p][p]Games Germany – Regional Funds and Networks is a unique cooperation between 12 regional institutions – six funding bodies and six industry networks. Due to Germany’s federal system, these institutions operate locally, but under the Games Germany umbrella, they come together with a shared goal: to strengthen and showcase the national games industry. [/p][p][/p][p]For the past four years, they’ve been organizing a recurring Steam event featuring local players from our neighborhood. We’re excited to be part of it and to celebrate friends and partners we've known since our university days and the early years of Toukana. Companions on our journey, creative minds, and fantastic game makers.
