v1224 - Endgame + Special Events Reloaded!



After completing all 50 missions (including the new Special Event missions) the end game mission is available.

In addition to the new maps and missions, I have been busy prettying up the UI:


- NEW:
skill and suit mod icons.

While these are marketplace assets, they look way better than anything I can design! While the visual aspects of a game are important, the actual core gameplay has always been my focus. I will be putting together some custom artwork to replace these once I have the full set of skills and mods programmed into the game.

RECENT BUG FIXES:
- FIXED: mission select preview images where the wrong image would show
- FIXED: broken navigation meshes (squirrels would only hop slowly around map)
- FIXED: map loading bug for Paradise Squirreled missions where it would crash to logo / restart
- FIXED: mission select screen where accept mission button no longer shows if no missions left
- FIXED: XP transfer to never before loaded character in character select
- FIXED: Player squirrel death events. AI no longer tracks phantom squirrel.



- NEW: Main menu 'Continue' and 'New Game' buttons

Creating a new game will clear all progress in current save! Be careful... a pop up confirmation dialogue coming soon!

- ADDED: all missions now have corresponding Steam Achievements. Currently 55 Steam Achievements active. More artwork coming soon!

- BALANCE: specials will spawn at an increased rate.

Instead of spawning 1 per wave, the number will increase per subsequent wave. This is still experimental and may be modified depending on player feedback and game performance.



- MULTIPLAYER: added multiplayer explanation and notes to host setup screen

Explains listen server + note: you can host a game and play the missions just like single player, but any players that join while in a mission will spawn as a 'chipped squirrel'.



- UNLOCKED: special event zones added with Squirrelloween and Winter Wonderland maps + 5 missions

- REVERTED: Quad Bike handling (needs work!)

Дотэйн has been working on completing every mission and getting every achievement. No wonder they are the World's #1 with a high score of 2,523,200. Дотэйн has also been helping out with some bug reports via Steam Chat - which has been extremely helpful! Thank you!!!

v1121 - Hotfixes

- BUGFIX: XP transfer on character select
Sometimes when first selecting a character never before selected after a mission, the current character's XP from the last mission would be transferred to the newly selected character

- BUGFIX: accept mission button no longer shows if no missions available

- BUGFIX: map selection bug after adding Paradise Squirreled mission and map
Sometimes after selecting a mission the previously selected map would load instead

v1198 - Hotfixes

- fix: navmesh Desert Squirrels
- fix: objective 'Crane Climb' in Deadlands mission zone

NEW MISSION MAP: I have added the very 'early alpha' retro map "Paradise Squirreled" to the game. It's a Summer Squirrels mission. Play on an old, but fun map that I just had to bring back to the game!



YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED THESE FEATURE UPDATES!
Most of my changes I put in as small updates / fixes
- character training system active
- suit mod system active

OTHER FIXES / IMPROVEMENTS:
- CPU usage optimizations (improve performance on lower end machines)
- added point lights to all weapons and bodies (easier to find, especially at night)
- removed mouse speed limiting (more player speed control of mouse)
- removed mouse smoothing (as above)
- new more detailed overview map: Summer Squirrels
- removed quad bikes from Summer Squirrels
- fixed player pointer icon 'dead zones" on HUD Overview map: Summer Squirrels
- fixed 'Big Bertha' weapon pickup failing to register in 'Grandpa Had a Gun' mission
- fixed Hive Merchant item buy / sell: Automatic rifle
- fixed Persistent Inventory (mission collected items were not clearing at start of mission causing previous mission items to be added again to inventory).
- fixed Intermediate Squirreling training mission (was spawning a test squirrel training mission)
- fixed First Person aiming (now shoots from Camera not weapon muzzle)
- fixed firing weapon at window when standing really close does not break window (First Person)

TODO / CURRENT FOCUS:
- revert quad bike changes / improve handling
- fix weapon reload animations for shotguns!
- fix / replace HUD Overview Map on all missions
- squirrel sounds for each squirrel type
- more Steam Achievements + Images

v1173 - Achievement Hotfixes

- fixed skip Rookie 50 kills achievement if kill 150 first. Added achievement check at end of next game that will retro check kill achievements
- added achievement check for completed missions at main menu in case there was no internet connection to Steam at the time of achievement completion
