🔧 Horse Tales patch 1.1.4 is live 🔧

Hello Riders,

A new patch for Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is now available! Here is what you can expect:
Major Improvements
  • Several improvements to performance optimization and resolution scaling. What this means for players is reduced ‘blurriness’ and fewer hitches/lags when moving through the world. This will be most noticeable on Nintendo Switch, but may improve the experience on other platforms as well.
  • Extended Camera Settings: You now have several more options to customize your camera behavior
    1. Locked Camera Mode means the camera stays behind horse and rider and you have to press the camera toggle button (Middle Mouse Button or Period on PC) to move the camera freely. (This is a new, simplified mode!)
    2. Free Camera Mode means that you can always move the camera with your mouse. The camera toggle button then simply re-centers the camera behind you. (This is how it’s been working so far!)
    3. Simple vs Dynamic Camera Movement determines how the camera moves and pivots. Select “Dynamic” for the camera to behave as it has been so far, or switch to “Simple” if you’re looking for a more immediate response that is always centered on the player. You can set this separately for the movement on foot and on horseback.
    4. Auto-Reset Camera is a toggle that determines if your camera occasionally resets behind you. Disable this if you always want full control over the camera.

Try the different settings to find the experience that works best for you!

  • Fast Travel between Home Bases: You can now unlock fast travel between the Emerald Estate and your Homesteads!
    1. To fast travel to a home base, you need to visit it on foot/horseback first and find a ticket that unlocks the location for fast travel.
    2. Keep an eye out for the hot-air balloons on each of the bases. The tickets can be found nearby. Interact with the balloon to fast travel.
  • Balancing Adjustment: We’ve added more Sandcastles in the world and increased the number of peppermints you get from Esmee for a favor point.
Bugfixes
  • Fixed a critical issue where the Completionist Trophy couldn’t be unlocked on Steam for some players.
  • Fixed a bug where all collision triggers (resource collecting, race checkpoints) would stop working.
  • Fixed the availability of the “Lucha Libre” tack set. The set can now be found as intended by the Chasms race near Withers’ Ridge.
  • Fixed the availability of the “Horse Walker” blue print: The blueprint is now a mission reward for the “Horse Expertise” side mission. If you’ve already completed this mission, the Horse Walker should be buildable as soon as you update the game to version 1.1.4.
  • Fixed issues with the Out of Shape, Lazy Jumper and Lazy Sprinter traits: These traits can now be trained/improved correctly and should not return once the relevant training mission has been completed.
  • Fixed multiple issues with fear-related Trait Missions: Traits like Fear/Uneasy in the Dark and Fear of/Uneasy with Heights should now work correctly and not return once the relevant training mission has been completed.
  • Fixed an issue where the trophy cabinet would become empty when rebuilding the player home.

Fixed minor localization issues, such as horse parentage getting displayed the wrong way around in the horse’s history.

If you encounter further problems, please report them to [email protected] as before. Remember that:
  • Receiving multiple reports for the same issue helps us gather valuable information and prioritize based on frequency and severity
  • For any issues with your saved game (i.e. any problems that persist after exiting and re-loading the game), you can help us by sending us your save files to investigate. Your save files for the game are located in Save games can be found in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\StableGirl\Saved\SaveGames

Thank you all for your patience and all your feedback! ✨✨

Keep having fun with Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch! 🐴🐴

An Update from the Dev Team

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and reviews. We’re thrilled to see so many of you enjoying the game, sharing your horses and screenshots and more. At the same time, we are monitoring reviews and discussions for your critical feedback as well and of course tracking and tackling the bugs you’ve been reporting.

We’re happy to have gotten Patch 1.1.3. with a few further urgent bugfixes out before the winter holidays – find the detailed patch notes over here:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1474740/view/3649634703655132260
Upcoming Bugfixes

With that, our work on Horse Tales is not done, however.

We’re aware of several more issues that still need to be resolved, including, but not limited to:
  • Further fixes for horses’ genetic test results, unfortunately some additional issues have snuck into the face markings. If you encounter any further issues with your horses’ gene testing, please make sure to report them in detail.
  • Further fixes re. trait training. We see some of you report that traits like “Out of Shape” and “Lazy Sprinter” aren’t removed from your horses properly after completing the relevant trait missions. If you’re affected by this, please consider sending us your save game so we can investigate.
  • Some of you noticed that one tack set and one building blueprint are actually not findable in the game! This is not an intentional omission and will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Even if we’re aware of a problem, additional bug reports can help us gather more information on it, and reports from multiple players help us prioritize the issues based on their frequency. Additional screenshots, info and save games can help us a lot too!

With that in mind, please keep sending us details on any issues you encounter to [email protected], we hugely appreciate your support 💪

Upcoming Improvements

Apart from Bugfixes (and after greenlight from Microids), we’re also planning to take some commonly requested improvements to heart and will be hopefully tackling these soon:
  • Misc. Performance Improvements to reduce resolution scaling (blurriness) on Switch
  • Extended Camera settings based on commonly reported issues with the current camera
  • Balancing adjustments, specifically for easier access to peppermints*
  • Fast-Travel between home bases (Emerald Estate and Homesteads), once each base has been reached once

* Note: If the peppermint balancing is currently keeping you from breeding horses, remember that the treats needed for breeding depend on what the parent horses prefer. Horses that prefer apples, carrots or sunflowers tend to make for easier keepers!

Content and Project Scope

We also see that many of you would love for Horse Tales to be bigger than what it already is: more story, more NPCs, more horse breeds, more things to do and see in the world…

We love to see your enthusiasm for this and completely agree that there’s a lot of potential in this genre.

We cannot announce or promise any content updates or big expansions at the moment. But both developer Aesir Interactive and publisher Microids are eagerly listening to all of your feedback and requests and taking notes for the future.

Thank you all for your support, your feedback, your reviews and for your patience while we react to them 🙏❤️

🔧 Horse Tales patch 1.1.3 is live 🔧

Hello Riders,

A new patch for Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is now available! Here is what you can expect:
  • Fixed a critical bug where the game would stop saving eventually. With the patch, your autosave should work as usual again if it previously stopped saving. Unfortunately, we cannot restore completely corrupted save files, but the patch will greatly reduce the chance of save game corruption in the future.
  • The save game changes also fix decoration slots within building slots (including obstacles in riding hall and riding space). These were previously not saved correctly. It’s possible that some decorations need to be rebuilt after the patch, but they will be saved correctly from now on.
  • Fixed a bug where gene test results would not be cleared properly when switching horses, and some horses would show the wrong genes as a result.
  • Fixed gene testing for leg markings. Note that unfortunately some issues with the face markings remain. Also note that in some cases the Tobiano gene will cause more white leg markings than what the Markings section displays.
  • Gene testing now displays the full pattern string, including dominant and recessive genes.
  • Fixed a bug where horses with the “Food Lover” trait would be much slower than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where wild horses would not respawn properly after resting. Note that sometimes, the same horse may reappear multiple times after being scared off.
  • Fixed a bug where a chest would spawn a small Gazebo instead of the Gazebo blueprint.
  • Fixed a bug where some quest horses would be ‘mixed warmblood’ instead of purebred Selle Français. This fix will only affect new saves, not horses that were already caught/found.
  • Fixed a bug where the player would fall through the ground if they chose “Reset to Estate” while leading their horse.
  • Removed pink face markings that were wrongly displayed on the horses.
  • Fixed that some areas would not count properly towards completing “Vertigo” or “Afraid of the Dark” trait missions.
  • Fixed that wild horses would sometimes have both “Vertigo” and “Uneasy with Heights” (or: both “Afraid in the Dark” and “Uneasy in the Dark”) traits and that the relevant trait mission couldn’t be completed as a result. Unfortunately, further issues with some traits not getting removed after completing the missions (Out of Shape, Lazy Jumper, Lazy Sprinter) are still being investigated. If you have this problem, please consider sending us your save file!

More bug fixes are works in progress at Aesir, and we’ll update you further on upcoming changes soon. Until then:
  • Remember to report any bugs you encounter to [email protected] 📧
  • Receiving multiple reports for the same issue can still help us gather information and prioritized based on how many players experience an issue

Thank you all for your reports and your feedback, and thank you for your patience while we’re fixing things 💪💖

  • Fixed a bug where the mission marker would not show up during the mission “A Lesson in Style”
  • Fixed a bug where the race timer would show up during gameplay after the user quit during a race

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when repeatedly jumping off the vantage point above the estate
  • Horse no longer comes into the player’s home when whistled for (this led to camera issues when mounting indoors)
  • Fixed a display issue where the construction slot pole for a bridge on the estate would go missing
  • Breeding Menu now shows Traits instead of Conditions

  • Game menu no longer gets truncated on 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratios
Known issues
Aesir Interactive is working on further bugfixes and performance improvements.
These are some of the most urgent issues we are aware of and working on fixing:
  • Working on fixing Genetics Testing, currently the same result is shown for different horses.
  • Working on fixing building placement issues, decoration slots within other buildings are not getting saved properly
  • Will fix button mapping of Rename Horse function on Switch. Can be worked around by tapping the name on the Switch’s touch screen.
  • Investigating Performance issues and improvements on Switch (blurred rendering)
  • Investigating Savegame issues (autosave no longer working)
