Commandos: Origins is the long-awaited sequel to the Commandos series, taking you back to the roots of the real-time tactics genre. It delves into the days when Jack O’Hara – the Green Beret – and his five comrades became the infamous squad renowned for taking on missions no one else would dare attempt.
YOU have been chosen for a special mission that will determine the fate of the world and give rise to this legendary elite unit.
A new chapter awaits in the shadowy depths of World War II history, where heroes are born, and legends are forged. Whether for a daring raid, covert sabotage, or a heroic rescue mission, the Green Beret, the Engineer, the Sniper, the Driver, the Marine, and the Spy must combine their skills to accomplish their challenging objectives. Success will only come if you craft a thoughtful plan and cleverly combine targeted attacks with stealth maneuvers.
From the icy plains of the Arctic to the vast deserts of Africa, from the western coasts of Europe to the Eastern Front, it’s up to you to lead the Commandos in high-stakes operations to combat the Nazi occupation and achieve victory.

Commandos: Origins takes the complex tactical gameplay of the classic Commandos games to the next level.
It features even larger maps, an isometric 3D real-time environment with zoom-in and rotation capabilities, and more interactions with the environment, such as the ability to use surroundings to eliminate enemies.
These elements significantly enhance the replayability of the game. The combination of massive maps and various approaches to solving missions offers players a wide variety of tactical options and ensures each map remains engaging over multiple playthroughs.
Additionally, multi-story buildings are now seamlessly integrated into the maps, removing the need to switch to a separate gameplay window.
[h2]What is the core gameplay in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
In
Commandos: Origins, tactics are key. Use the Commandos' abilities to your strategic advantage—in real-time! Coordinate multiple complex actions and execute them simultaneously to reach heavily guarded objectives (Command Mode).
Achieve your goal by navigating through detailed, diverse, and interactive environments, using stealth gameplay (daring, loud actions may get you ahead faster, but be prepared for a possible "ALARM!").
Pay attention to the various conditions of the map – on certain surfaces, the Commandos may leave footprints that enemies can detect. At night, the enemies' field of vision is smaller, but be careful.
[h2]Are there one or multiple ways to complete a mission? [/h2]
In Commandos: Origins, there are multiple approaches to fulfill the mission objective – based on the available Commando units, their unique abilities and your preferences. It’s up to you to choose your path.
[h2]How many missions does Commandos: Origins have? [/h2]
Commandos: Origins has 14 missions, each featuring 1 to 2 unique objectives that appear only once in the game. Additionally, there are numerous side tasks to complete within the missions.
[h2]How does the stealth system work in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
In
Commandos: Origins, both lethal and non-lethal enemy takedowns are possible. Dispose of enemies out of sight of others and avoid the enemy's line of sight. When you move while prone, enemies won't see you within the striped area of their vision cone.
[h2]Will there be a modern planning system in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
To help you to strategically plan and execute your actions, we implemented the Command Mode: With this, you have the option to queue actions from your different Commando units so they can be performed simultaneously.
[h2]Can you collect loot in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
Yes, you can collect loot in
Commandos: Origins. Our modernized loot system aligns with our vision of staying true to the Commandos series’ core, prioritizing stealth rather than giving the player the ability to just blast into enemy territory. What does this mean for Commandos: Origins? Some enemies have ‘lootable’ items such as ammunition and first aid kits when they are eliminated or killed. You can also find loot, such as collectibles and uniforms, in certain locations in the environment. Once you pick up an item, this is directly available for the selected Commando via his abilities without needing an additional inventory (i.e. backpack).
[h2]Is there a way to adjust the difficulty in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
Yes! In
Commandos: Origins, you can choose from three difficulty levels:
Beginner: Suitable for recruits who are playing for the first time. You’ll learn how to approach scenarios with some room for mistakes. Enemies react more slowly, and your Commandos have more health.
Normal: Suitable for recruits who have experienced combat before. You know advanced strategies and have mastered various combat skills. Enemies react faster, and your Commandos can withstand a moderate amount of damage.
Hard: Only for veterans. You must plan and execute your actions perfectly on the battlefield. Enemies react immediately, and your Commandos have very limited health.
[h2]Are there different enemy types in Commandos: Origins? [/h2]
In
Commandos: Origins, there are multiple enemy types which have different traits. For example, Guards are usually stationed around locations of high tactical value. With their watchful eye and an MP40 at hand they are not to be underestimated. Guards will not move from their assigned post which makes entering the guarded area quite challenging. Officers, however, oversee the local forces and are often in charge of patrols, manning a Luger.
It's on you to find the best tactics for each enemy!

In
Commandos: Origins, there are environmental takedowns and clues that you can collect, offering you additional and alternative ways to complete objectives. Additionally, you can collect items such as first aid kits, ammunition, enemy uniforms for the spy, and more from the environment.

In
Commandos: Origins, the following vehicles will be available:
- Opel Blitz (4 variations)
- Kübelwagen
- Jeep Willys
- Panzerkampfwagen 3
- Zodiac boat (mission-specific)
Additionally, there are several stationary objects that can be used, such as the 50mm PAK 38, Flakvierling, Flak 88, or the MG34.
