Hey everyone!
With Update 1.3 released, and the game now having better graphics, rain, and lots of new gameplay mutators, let's talk about what's next in store for Intravenous update-wise.
Before I go on, I'd like to clarify that my busy-time period, which I mentioned in the previous "What's Next?" post is now over.
Despite being busy, I still managed to release this update not in January, but in December. I love it when my estimates are wrong in everyone's favor, haha!
Anyway, let's get into what to expect with the next update.
User friendliness update for the map editor
This was mentioned in the previous post, but this is something that's still on my to-do list.
The map editor seems to be easy to grip for those who have some kind of software development background, but those without any programming experience find it daunting to get into.
I'll try to remedy a couple of spots that I believe people need guidance with.
Unfortunately, since I'm the game's creator, I know everything there is about it, so it's super hard to judge what is and isn't easy to grasp.
This is where you, the community, come in. If you find something unclear, then please state that in Steam discussions or on
the official Discord server.
Currently I am working on a new level upload utility for the game. Instead of having to edit several files to upload a level, the entire process will now take place in the level editor.
Once you have a level you'd like to share with the community, all you'll need to do is simply click on the button which says "Publish to Steam Workshop..." and follow the steps there!
I will to upload a beta version of the update which brings this utility soon.
Aside from that, I also intend to make a couple of videos on YouTube to better introduce people into the level editor.
Modding support
For the time being, I've decided on adding the ability to easily (in modding terms!) add new weapons to the game. Adding animations to the game is a whole different topic, and will require some extra work from my part, so modding support will come
after the Map Editor friendliness update. The extensiveness depends on how many people show interest in the level editor, and so far the folks that have been actively making maps are very few and far between.
Thanks for reading, hope you're enjoying the game!
