Game patch 1.3.22

Hey folks!

This update brings a big improvement in framerate thanks to a simple optimization. It also bundles various example mods in the game files.

Version 1.3.22:
- optimized CPU performance by rate-limiting NPC logic update for out-of-view enemies:
* a framerate improvement of up to 36% can be observed
* this optimization helps primarily when the majority of enemies on the level are off-screen
* high refresh rate monitor users will benefit from this optimization the most

- the mods "Bullet Time", "AS VAL Silent Assault Rifle", "M79 Grenade Launcher", "PSS Silent Pistol", and "All Suppressed Weapons Quieter" are now packed with the game in the folder "mods_example"

Community Mod Showcase!

Hey everyone!

You might've missed this, but as of game version 1.3.10 Intravenous supports officially modding. For the time being the supported mods are weapons, since this is what the community is most interested in aside from extra game levels.
Almost two weeks have passed since the update was released, so let's check out some of the weapons made by the community!

Community-made weapon mods
Remington M700 - a bolt-action rifle. This is a very creative addition, and frankly made me think "why didn't I add any bolt-action firearms to the game?". Sure, there's the tranquilizer rifle, but no bolt-action guns. Either way, this mod adds just that and is honestly a really cool addition.
SilencerCo Maxim 9 - a different take on suppressed 9x19MM pistols, and a really cool one too! Really enjoy the firing sound.
FN Five-seveN - this is a pistol that I actually wanted to add to the game, but completely forgot about it while I was working on it. Now you can have it in mod form!
MP5SD - a suppressed MP5 - what more could you ask for?! If you end up using this gun, you'll notice the game gets a lot easier. ;)
Glock-18 Silenced - this one adds a fully-automatic suppressed Glock-18. Totally not overpowered, eh?

Official example weapon mods

With these listed, here are several official example mods that were released to show how various weapon config files are set-up, and how various gun-related functionality is adjusted.
The stats on these weapons are tweaked to be in-line with the rest of the base game weapons balance-wise.

AS VAL Silent Assault Rifle - maybe not as silent as you'd expect it to be, but definitely quieter than the rest of the primary weapons in the game.
M79 Grenade Launcher - Somebody asked whether the game would get a rocket launcher weapon mod, and a friend of mine had a similar idea - a grenade laucher. How did the Accomplice get his hands on this one? No one knows, and frankly no one cares. What matters is it goes "boom".
PSS Silent Pistol - like the VP9, except semi-auto, is a bit noisier, and has inferior range... and you also won't find any ammo for it on any of the base game levels.
All Suppresed Weapons Quieter - does exactly what it says! With this installed, all suppressed weapons in the game become 40% quieter.

Bullet Time

Finally, this mod, I believe, deserves it's own separate mention.
It's an example mod which serves the purpose of showcasing how to do something as complex as adding a new gameplay mechanic altogether.
In this case, it's Bullet Time. Combine that with some of the mod-made weapons, and you're in for a vastly different gameplay experience - one that's a welcome addition to the base game.

Tonemap mods

If you were looking for something to change the feel of the game... well, there are a few of these.

Sin City Tonemap - an interesting take on a tonemap, no doubt! Makes the game black & white, while highlighting things like blood.
Noir Tonemap - an example tonemap mod which adds a black&white shader.

Levels

This announcement would not be complete without some community-made levels, so lets check some out!
Something in Roskilde - CHAPTER 0 - a series of FIVE levels, featuring it's own soundtrack and storyline made by a community member that has been actively using the level editor and reporting various issues with it. A special thanks to the author for all the feedback!
Breynac Castle - I'm honestly confused. I think it's some kind of meme. Anyway, it doesn't matter - what matters is it's a pretty cool level!
Street Shenanigans - a pretty linear, but nicely detailed level. Like with a lot of mod levels, it departs from the usual level philosophy of Intravenous, and instead opts in for a more linear experience.

Phew, this list got pretty long, but that about wraps up this mod showcase.
I hope to see more of these, as I'd be happy to showcase the stuff you guys can make.
If you're unsure on where to start with modding, refer to this guide.

Finally, I'd like to thank all the folks contributing to the game on Steam Workshop. The new weapons make replaying the game's base campaign that much more fun, while new levels provide with even more scenarios to sink your time into.

Game patch 1.3.21

Hey folks!

This update brings various fixes related to the map editor.

Version 1.3.21:
- (MAP EDITOR) when exporting level in mod-ready format, the game will also try to export localization strings to the mod's "maps/" directory, and will load it in the mod's "main.lua" file
- (MAP EDITOR) fixed a problem with dialogue and talk text being unregistered when returning from test mode to edit mode
- (MAP EDITOR) fixed a crash that occured when using the "set talk text" action, but providing an invalid talk text ID
- (MAP EDITOR) added failsafes to most cutscene/scene actions related to actors to prevent the game from crashing when the target actor is misconfigured in the level editor on custom levels - they will now instead finish instantly
- (MAP EDITOR) fixed bad export of miscellaneous localizable strings
- (MAP EDITOR) fixed duplicate localization key export
