War Robots: Frontiers News

Hotfix Patch Notes — April 17, 2025

Attention, Pilots! The following hotfix will be deployed for War Robots: Frontiers following a short period of maintenance on April 17, 2025.
Matchmaking
• Players in Gold League will only match with other Gold players, and no longer match with Platinum and above.
General Adjustments
• Prepared the upcoming Battle Pass: Smuggler’s Run, which launches on April 22, 2025.
  • Adjusted the level requirement to show the Shop Banner which includes information to where to obtain Robots and Robot Modules for players at Level 10 and below.
Gameplay Adjustments
• Added a new Daily Job, in addition to the existing three Jobs (five for Premium Account holders). This new Daily Job will always have the same completion conditions: Win 1 Battle.
  • Updated a job description to include that a specific Torso is needed to complete the job for the following:
    • Capture 6 Warp Gates using Orochi or Harpy Torso.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where weapon hit registration was inconsistent.
  • Returned the missing description for Typhon’s Core Gear: Blackout.
  • Fixed a bug where the Bulwark’s Core Gear “Absorber Sphere” would treat shots from “Thunder” weapons as one projectile. “Absorber Sphere” now correctly recognizes each pellet as a projectile and absorbs them as intended.
  • Fixed a bug where the rarity of Warp “Infinity Breaker” was incorrect.
  • Fixed a bug where the weapon “Shocktrain” would deal 200% of the intended damage when the game was set to 30 FPS.
  • Fixed a bug where Pilot Talent trigger notifications for proximity based Pilot Talents would repeat endlessly.
  • Fixed a bug where players were able to increase the aiming height when aiming down sights with specific weapons, which allowed them to aim over walls and cover.
  • Fixed a bug on the map “Fissure” where the camera would clip through certain parts of terrain and structures.
  • Fixed a bug where purchases on PlayStation could timeout which would result in a “Failed to get purchase” error.

Balancing Playtest: Test Out Weapons From April 17–18

Ready to put the battlefield to the test, Pilot? Play our Balancing Playtest from April 17–18 and help shape the future of War Robots: Frontiers.

This Playtest will introduce new balancing changes for Pilot Talents, Weapons and adjustments to the Respawn Buff. We look forward to hearing your feedback about these features!

IMPORTANT: This Playtest is only available on PC (Steam and MY.GAMES Launcher). This allows us to test the stability of new builds with a clean slate before deploying to all platforms.
Balancing Playtest Dates & Times
• April 17: 18:00 UTC - 21:00 UTC
  • April 18: 18:00 UTC - 21:00 UTC

[remindme][/remindme]
Balancing Adjustments
During the Playtest you will be provided with ready-made War Robots equipped in your Hangar for playtesting. Individual War Robots and levelled-up Pilots will also be available to quickly assemble builds you are familiar with.

We are interested in feedback from players who play as or against these War Robot playstyles, so please let us know your thoughts on Discord!

These changes are in testing and may not be implemented in the live game.
Weapons

Incinerator
We received feedback from players that Incinerator felt overly powerful in battle. After reviewing the data, we agree with these concerns. Previously, the damage-over-time effect would not stack, so regardless of the number of weapons applied to the War Robot, the damage did not scale.

Our goal is to make this weapon feel more strategic and balanced when incorporated within builds. To achieve this, we are making adjustments to how the stacking mechanic functions for this weapon:

Updated Mechanic:
  • Damage-over-time now scales based on the number of Incinerators equipped.
  • The effect from a single flamethrower will be lower than before.
  • When multiple flamethrowers fire simultaneously, the damage-over-time effect remains high.
Damage Adjustments:
  • Reduced damage to Armor per second from 18,000 (overall) to 7,000 (per weapon at max level).
  • Reduced damage to Shields from 3,000 to 1,000.
Lighter
Based on data, we felt that the spread of the area-of-effect was too large, requiring less focus to target specific Armor zones. We would like players to focus more on hitting their target directly rather than relying on splash damage, therefore we will be making the following adjustments:
  • Redistributed damage output by reducing area-of-effect damage and increasing direct hit damage for both Armor and Shields.
  • Reduced the area-of-effect radius by 28.6%.
Vortex
We received varying feedback that it could be difficult to hit fast-moving targets but also could be difficult for fast-moving targets to quickly evade in certain circumstances. Due to this, we will be making the following adjustments:
  • Projectiles no longer predict the future position of the enemy, instead, giving the target a chance to dodge.
  • Projectiles will now travel directly to the enemy targeted (not a specific location).
Noricum
We are making the following adjustment to Noricum:
  • Increased time between shots from 0.2 to 0.25 seconds.

While increasing the time between shots is a step towards addressing excessive spam in lower matches, we understand that this adjustment alone is not sufficient. We are actively working on more substantial changes to balance this weapon, but these adjustments are still under development and require further testing internally.

As such, they could not be included in this current playtest. We remain committed to refining Noricum to make it inline with players expectations and we will be sharing updates on these changes in the coming weeks.
Gear

Core Gear: Cold Snap (Siren)
Players have expressed that countering Cold Snap during combat can be particularly challenging. To address this, we aim to refine its functionality by allowing its use in combination with other gear, while increasing the precision required for effective aiming. In light of this feedback, we are introducing the following adjustments:
  • Removed the area-of-effect, making it no longer possible to hit multiple targets.
  • Increased the cooldown from 25 to 45 seconds.
  • Reduced the Freezing time from 6 to 5 seconds.
Pilot Talents
We have been closely monitoring feedback regarding certain Pilot Talents and analyzing their usage across the board. Some Talents have sparked more discussion than others, leading to interesting insights from players regarding how pilots are utilized in battle.

Based on our findings, we are going to make the following adjustments to associated Pilots:

Gear Resonator
  • Using any Gear reduces incoming damage by 7% (previously 4%).
Available via the following Pilots: Alex Cage, Max Monroe, Continuum, Scarlett Rose.

Quick Reflexes
  • Activating any defensive Gear reduces shield cooldown by 25% for 15 seconds (previously 5).
Gameplay

Respawn Buff
Players have highlighted that the Respawn buff currently grants an excessive advantage to highly skilled players, rendering them nearly invincible during its usage. While its intended purpose was to address spawn camping, we recognize that its offensive power when utilising long-range weaponry requires a relook.

Responding to this feedback, we are making the following adjustments:
  • Removed the +50% damage buff after spawn on initial spawn points.
  • Spawn points in Last Robot Standing have been moved further away from the map center.
  • Removed the timer cooldown on additional spawn points in Last Robot Standing, making the spawn points available from the beginning.
Balancing Playtest Rewards
Participants will receive a “Playtest Crew” Sticker, 4,000 Credits, and 40,000 Salvage for completing the in-game survey. Make sure you use the correct username and platform when completing the survey, as your rewards will be sent to that account. Your rewards will appear in the participating account by April 25.

Hero Pilot Spotlight: Idy “King” Demerost

Pilots are the final puzzle piece in your loadout, and choosing the ideal companion for your War Robot is critical to your success…or failure.

Bow down to Idy “King” Demerost, a gentlemanly gunslinger on a mission to keep war as civilized as possible.
BACKGROUND ANALYSIS
• Name: Idy Demerost
  • Call Sign: King
  • Class: Assault
  • Dominion: Freecon

Idy grew up on Mars as part of a group of Freecon settler families who were offered positions of authority on colonized outposts due to their reliability and traditional values. His father did not share Idy’s moral compass, and would often sacrifice other colonists for “the greater good”. Seeing this cruelty, Idy ran away to the Wild Ten at a young age, finding a new family in a band of mercenaries led by an old-school merc known as Ever who showed him the ropes.

During a mission, Idy’s code of conduct was put to the test. He lost an arm during a warp malfunction on the battlefield in an attempt to save a teammate. His squad gave him the call sign “King”, to demonstrate his leadership and sacrifice that day. Unfortunately, this also effectively ended his career as a Pilot.

After Idy was maimed, work was slow, and he was at a loose end back on Mars, hitting rock bottom. One day, there came an intriguing offer: an opportunity to return to his Pilot duties for a small favor...

King suddenly resurfaced on Tortuga, with his body rebuilt and his mind ready for action. Back in the driver’s seat, King takes his duties seriously, and will not engage in any type of criminality on or off the battlefield. He sees mercenary work as a noble profession, not a free pass to commit atrocities, and has made a number of enemies due to his belief in “gentlemanly warfare”. Heavy may be the head that wears the crown, but King’s unwavering honesty makes it feel lighter than air.

Hotfix Patch Notes — April 8, 2025

Attention, Pilots! The following hotfix will be deployed for War Robots: Frontiers following a short period of maintenance on April 8, 2025.
Gameplay Adjustments

Progression
Last week's Hotfix included an unlisted backend adjustment to expand the range of actions players could perform during Battle to earn Impact Points. While the average number of Impact Points per Battle was expected to remain unchanged, Credits earned during Battle were unintentionally reduced.

To address this issue, this week’s update increases the amount of Credits awarded for certain actions to restore balance and ensure a fair gameplay experience.
Balancing Adjustments

Gear
Core Gear: Blackout (Typhon)

We wanted to give players greater control over deciding the optimal moment to fire during combat encounters. As a result, we are adjusting how the lock-on and firing mechanics work for this Core Gear:
  • Homing missiles will no longer automatically fire upon target lock-on.
  • New Mechanic: When pressing the Gear button, “Blackout” will lock-on to a target. Players need to press the “Fire” button to shoot the homing missiles towards their targeted enemy.
General Improvements
• The drop-down menu for muting or reporting a player in the Teams Interface now requires only a single click (previously required 2 clicks).
  • Players are now shown a “Press T to Toggle Zoom” hint when switching aiming modes when aiming down right. The hint is displayed below the crosshair.
  • Added a timer in the player HUD (bottom left next to Robot Health) that displays the remaining time of the 2X Damage Power-Up during Team Deathmatch.
  • Improved overall performance and stability of the game.
Technical Improvements
• Improved overall performance and stability of the game.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where double the amount of acquired Experience was shown in the Battle Pass section of the Post Combat interface.
  • Fixed a bug where names were occasionally not displayed in the Leaderboard.
  • Fixed a bug in the Leaderboard where the name was not updated when a player changed their name.
  • Fixed a bug where “Ghost Turret” would not be deployed where the player intended.
  • Fixed a bug where “Ghost Turret” would occasionally not shoot at enemies.
  • Fixed a bug where a debug sphere could become visible to the player when using Core Gear: Napalm Shell (Harpy).
  • Fixed a bug where all projectiles would launch to the same place when using the Core Gear: Steel Feathers (Raven). The projectiles will now correctly fly to the location the player is actively aiming towards.
  • Fixed a bug where the timers for Stickers and Paints in the Store did not display the correct end time.

Follow the game on X and Facebook and join the official Discord server to get all the latest hotfix info.
